"Here's to us," Shay grinned, holding up a wine glass. "And how awesome we are."

It was the end of March and we had finished for a few weeks. In the third term it would be exam time again and then we'd be going on holiday. I raised my glass as well and sniffed the wine.

It smelt vinegary and I wrinkled my nose. The dorm was packed with people. Shay practically necked her wine. Tay did the same. Hannah stood and sipped hers, demurely.

"Don't you like wine?" Jake asked.

He was sitting on the arm of the chair with his arm draped round my waist. I shook my head and he chuckled. We had gotten over what happened two weeks ago and seemed on the mend.

"Nope, no backsies," Jack said, grinning at me. "I wanna see you drink it."

Alex walked over, clouting him on the back of the head. Jack yelped, causing Alex to frown. I passed the glass to Jake and he took a sip and wrinkled his nose too.

"What is this shit?" He asked.

"Shit? We're uni students. It's all we could afford." Ashley laughed, stepping over and taking the glass. He sipped it and coughed. Shay giggled.

"Just pretend it tastes good." She smiled.

I accepted the glass again and debated on whether drinking the rest would be a good idea. The door swung open and Danny strolled in.

"Don't worry bitches. I'm here now." He shouted.

"And no one cares." Ben shot back.

Danny pouted and proceeded to try and shove Ben. Their play fights always ended badly. They stopped trying to hurt each other eventually. Danny sat on the floor and opened a can of beer, taking a huge swig.

"Alex," He whined.

Alex sighed and stepped over, rolling his eyes as he did so.

"Yes, Danny."

"You know we're going to that beach in June?" Danny grinned. "Can I invite some friends?"

Alex looked unsure. Tay latched onto his arm and grinned. She would always be agreeable and she nudged Alex.

"I dunno, there's already a load of people going," He sighed. "People are bringing sleeping bags. i mean, as long as your friends don't mind sleeping on the floor."

"Nah, they'd be down for it." Danny reassured him.

I faintly wondered who Danny was inviting. I knew he was really friendly with everyone. The door opened and Kellin and Vic walked in. Kellin rushed over, hugging me. He let go and hugged Jake. I giggled and Vic walked over, rolling his eyes.

"A simple hello would work, Kells." He nudged Kellin with his foot.

Kellin pulled back and pouted at Vic.

"So, how are you two?" Vic asked, ignoring his boyfriend.

"Yeah, pretty good." Jake replied. I nodded in agreement.

Kellin glanced over at Danny and he leaned in close to me. For a moment I thought he was going to kiss me, but he seemed to want to share some gossip without anyone overhearing.

"Word on the street is that Danny and Ariana are dating." He whispered.

"Wow, really?" I replied.

"Good luck to him." Jake chuckled.

Kellin muffled a laugh and Vic glanced over at Danny then back to us. I handed the glass to Kellin and he necked the wine without a second thought.

"I hate Ariana." Vic said, simply.

According to Kellin, Vic and Ariana went to the same secondary school and had a developed animosity. They loathed each other and Vic never tried to hide it.

"Join the club." Jake laughed. Vic grinned and they high-fived.

"How do you know her?" Vic asked.

"She's my sort-of ex." Jake sighed.

"Ouch! Well, we went secondary school together. She used to bully my best friend." Vic glanced across the way to be sure no one was listening.

I reserved my judgement on Ariana as she was probably just misunderstood. Although she'd been awful those two weeks ago, maybe she had found Danny and was really happy with him.

The drinking continued and I found myself getting a little bored. Kellin and Vic had disappeared after a while, possibly going back to Vic's dorm. Jake nudged me and I looked at him.

"You all right?" He asked.

"Yeah, just a little bored." I said.

He smiled and stood, motioning to the door. We quickly snuck away before anyone would notice. Luckily, my room was quite far down the hallway so the drunken noises didn't make it up the corridor. I unlocked my door and we entered.

I flicked on the lights and shut the door. I was actually itching to talk to him alone anyway. Jake sat on my bed and I sat next to him. We cuddled together and I rested my head on his shoulder.

"Ariana's going to Alex's beach house." I murmured.

I felt the bed shift as Jake turned to look at me. His hand lifted and he brushed some of my hair from my face. I smiled at the action.

"She can do what she likes as long as she leaves us alone." He smiled, tracing my face with his fingers.

I smiled and shifted closer. This was really amazing. I couldn't believe I was lying here with Jake, like this.

"I was wondering, say no if you want, but my mum wants to meet you." I whispered.

"Name a date and time and I'll be there." He replied.

"Even though my mum will ask twenty questions and Holly will be annoying." I laughed.

"That's fine. You can have dinner with Dad and I," He said, adding as an after thought. "And Maria."

"Maria?" I pulled back to look at him and he chuckled.

"Dad has found himself a girlfriend." He rolled his eyes.

I shifted to balance myself on my elbow and looked at him. He didn't look too bothered by this turn of events.

"Is she nice?" I asked, and he shrugged.

"Yeah, she's all right."

I laughed at that and decided to put Netflix on. I scrolled through the movies, pausing at a horror film.

"Horror films give you nightmares." Jake said, sitting up next to me.

I handed him the controller and angled my head to look at his hair. It was long, but seemed to be growing at uneven lengths. i reached up and traced my hand through it. I saw him smile.

"I know, it's uneven." He said.

"Won't it grow properly?" I continued to toy with his hair.

"I might need to get it cut." He paused at a film and shrugged, selecting it.

"Cut? Like, really short?" I sounded panicked.

He leaned back on my pillows and smirked.

"No, not really short. Just so it all grows back the same length."

We watched a couple of films. It was getting on for twelve and Jake would have to go and let Trixie and Ernie out.

"I know it's presumptious, but can I stay at yours tonight?" I asked, when he got up.

"Do you even have to ask." He replied.

I smiled and grabbed a bag, packing some clothes and my toothbrush. We were aiming to make a speedy escape from my crazy dorm mates.

They were all still quite drunkas we left. They seemed to be playing some kind of drinking game. Shay saw me and rushed over, hugging me.

"Wait, are you leaving?" She slurred.

"I'm stopping round Jake's tonight." I said, giggling a little when she swayed.

"Awh, that sucks. I love you so much," She grinned, then looked at Jake. "Take good care of her. She needs to be able to walk though so don't take too much good care of her, catch my drift?"

At those words, Ashley rushed over and pulled her away, smiling. I covered my mouth to stop laughing. Jake looked amused, but we left together, finally breaking down into laughter when we left.

The dogs were so happy to see us when we got to Jake's. I dropped my bag in the bedroom. Ernie was trailing behind me like a lost sheep. Once the dogs had been sorted, we sat on the couch under the blanket and watched tv until we fell asleep.
