I'll stand up to the pain

I sighed and stared up at the night sky. No wonder it was so quiet. “There’s a way out.” I said, looking around. The perimeter of the wall could have a break in it. I began feeling along the wall, which seemed to run along the edge of the property. I kicked, tapped, and yelled at the glass as I walked along next to it, bouncing my voice off the surface. There had to be a break somewhere, how else could we have arrived?

“They dropped us off in an underground parking lot.” Jinxx said after I’d traced along the entire perimeter of the wall and returned to find him sitting on the ground, his head bowed into his hands. His bloodied knuckles were entangled in his hair; blood remained on the wall where he’d been hitting it. I’d rammed a piece of steel at the wall and it didn’t leave a mark. I threw it against the wall as high as I could, nearly hitting myself in the head a few times, but I figured the wall couldn’t run upward to infinity, there had to be a way out of the top.

I looked at the roof of the hotel. “You want to try the roof?” I asked, throwing the steel rod at the hotel.

“What’s the point?” He said bitterly.

“Escaping.” I grinned. “We’ve come this far, where’s your sense of adventure?” I added. He glared at me. “I’ll be on the roof.” I walked away, taking the steel rod back to the front doors and throwing it majestically. I stepped back, expecting to hear shattering glass. The doors didn’t break.

“The wall's not made of glass.” Jinxx pointed out the obvious. “So if it’s plastic we can burn our way out.” He grinned.

I went to pull my lighter out of my pocket but remembered I didn’t have smokes or my luggage.

“We could pile your chair shards up next to the wall and use the sparks from the recip saw to light it on fire.” He suggested.

“Damn.” I was impressed. “I was thinking of burning my initials into the wall with a lighter but your idea works too.”

He laughed and pointed to the wall. “I already tried burning it.” He tossed a lighter to me and went back to the window we’d broken out of.

I didn’t want to go back into the hotel ever again, so I found the spot in the wall Jinxx had singed a black burn mark into. I heated the plastic with the lighter and shoved the steel rod into it.

“Maybe we can heat the steel and shove it through the plastic.” I said as Jinxx dropped a chair filled with broken pieces of chair onto the ground next to me.

“Maybe we can set this fucking night on fire.” He smiled and walked away.

I stood watching him walk away for a moment, wondering which of us had drifted further away from sanity before I began heating up smaller slivers of wood and tossing them onto the pile of chair remnants.

@Bethylee
I was going to write a part 2 and have CC trapped in some kind of Water/Earth related theme this time. Jake Pitts has a youtube vid of the Bellagio, so I was thinking what if CC fell into it during a light show and landed in another world?
