All Monsters are Human

Eighth Murder

"Come on out, sweetheart," Samuel's voice echoed about the flat.

I could hear him outside the door, pressing against it and I could hear the humour in his tone. He was obviously enjoying this and I felt like throwing up. Good thing I was in the bathroom.

For the past ten minutes I had been sat on the bathroom floor. The door was locked and I really hoped that Samuel wouldn't find the key in Andy's bedroom.

"You can't stay in there forever," He mused. "I can help you escape, you know. You just have to do something for me."

At his suggestive tone I heaved, but didn't throw up. He slammed his fist against the door and I whimpered. He seemed to realise agressive behaviour wouldn't get me to open the door.

I heard him retreat and I hoped that he had left. I hoped he had given up and wouldn't be returning. Pressing my ear to the door I heard his approaching footsteps and held my breath.

"He's such a freak." He chuckled. I could hear pages being turned. He was reading those files.

"Y-you shouldn't be reading those." I stammered. This was the first I had spoken.

He merely cackled and continued to leaf through the papers. How could he laugh at someone's mental health issues. I had decided that Samuel was worse than Andy.

He had no compassion for human lives and for people with mental health problems. He was a loathsome human being.

"Don't tell me you feel sorry for him," He giggled. "He abducted you to be his little whore."

I winced at that word. I knew Andy wanted intimacy, but he had never forced himself on me and had reined in his temper since our first meeting. Call it stockholm syndrome, but my feelings towards him were changing. And that concerned me a lot.

He stood again and I waited with baited breath. Was he giving up?

"Guess what I found in the freak's bedroom." His tone was cold.

My eyes widened when the lock began to twist and I stepped back, grabbing a razor from the side board. The door opened and Samuel was there.

His suit was neat and tidy, but his tie hung slightly loose. There was a manic look in his brown eyes. He reached for me and I slashed at his with the razor. He stepped back, unsure of what my weapon was.

I used this chance of uncertainty to slip by and get to the lounge. My feet thudded against the carpet and my breathing was coming out in sharp pants, making my chest sting.

Before I could reach the knife rack I was grabbed and yanked backwards. I crashed to the ground, sobbing as I did so. Samuel was behind me, straddling my waist, holding me to the floor.

"L-let me go!" My voice was a hoarse scream and I tried to hit him.

He laughed and grasped my wrists in one hand. I flailed under him, trying to throw him off, but he giggled manically. When he grew tired of my struggling he slapped me.

My head lurched to the side by the sudden blow and I was dizzy with pain. I whimpered and continued to utter the word 'no' again and again.

Samuel didn't seem to care and I tried to squirm away when he tore my t-shirt open. Every part of me rejected him and I rekindled my struggle somewhat.

"Stop fucking struggling, whore." He hissed, striking me again.

Tears formed in my eyes and I sobbed desperately. I nearly vomited when he touched me through my bra. A sound behind Samuel made me lift my injured head.

Samuel didn't seem to notice. I opened my eyes and could see a blurry figure behind Samuel. The figure raised it's hand and I squinted. Samuel was struck over the head and he collapsed.

"A-andy?" My voice was barely above a whisper.

I was lifted by strong arms and cradled to a lean chest. I could see the blurry outline of a dragonfly tattoo and I realised it was indeed Andy.

"Sssh, kitten. I've got you." He carried me out of the lounge.

Something soft. He must have placed me on his bed. My vision was slowly returning and I could see him sitting next to me, stroking my hair.

"Andy, he let himself in. I never let him in," I gasped out. He probably thought I was consenting. "I didn't want him to touch me."

More tears leaked out and he sshed me again, brushing his fingers across my cheek, touching away the tears with a pads of his fingers. He stood and I grabbed his hand before he could leave.

"P-please don't leave me." I sobbed. He looked sympathetic.

"Stay here, kitten. I won't leave you. I just need to take care of something," He stood, leaning over to kiss my forehead.

He covered me with a blanket and grinned. His face changed in a split second and I flinched as he moved towards the door.

He closed the door till there was only a slither of light leaking in. I listened intenly, waiting for something, but I wasn't sure what.

I heard Andy speaking to someone on the phone then. He hadn't harmed Samuel anymore and I smiled, despite the pain I was in.

I must have dozed off because when I woke up Andy was walking back into the bedroom. He looked angry and I inched further into the matress.

"Andy, did you hurt him?" I whispered.

He apporached the bed and sat next to me, tracing his fingers over my hair so he could look at me.

"No, I called Aaron. He came by and took Samuel away." He replied, trailing his fingers over my cheek.

I flinched under his touch and he recoiled a little to allow my cheeks to heal. He leaned in and I thought he might kiss me, but his lips ghosted over my face, kissing the bruises on my cheeks.

"He was going to-" I couldn't even finish the sentence.

"I know, don't worry he won't ever hurt you again." Andy pulled back a little.

Andy shifted and stood. For a minute I panicked, thinking he was going to leave me. He kicked off his boots and sat down next to me again.

I curled myself up against his body, breathing in his scent and feeling very safe. My ragged breathing gradually evened out.

"Andy," My voice was starting to get better. He toyed with my hair to let me know he'd heard me. "Thank you for saving me."

I feel the bed shift again as he angles his body to look at me. He's frowning and I wonder if he's mad at me again. Have I said something stupid?

"I will always be there to save you." He smiled, and it changed his features, making him look gentler. "Get some sleep."

I nodded and closed my eyes again. Sleep came easily that night. The warmth by my side never left and when I woke a few hours later, scared by nightmares, Andy was still there.

He was lying next to me, smoothing out my hair. I soon fell asleep again.

It makes me sad this story ended (a sequel would make my life!), but I still loved it!

@NightFire
Awh thanks so much. I really appreciate the comments I receive. I don't always get the chance to reply as I work crazy hours. I've started on my new story now and it's called I Need You Here Tonight.

I love this story so much it's sad to see it end, but endings also lead to more stories, so I'll be looking forward to that story you're talking about in your notes there.
