Elise's P.O.V.

When I woke up the next morning I was in a great mood. Apparently so was mom because she was cooking pancakes, which she never does. I swear something is going on with her and dad has been working more lately. Once she sees me she says, "Morning honey." I reply, "Morning." Then she hands me a plate with three pancakes on it and says, "Elise after you're done do me a favor. Go up to the attic and get the picture box for me." I say, "Okay", and when I finished I did as she asked. As I pick up the box a picture falls out. I pick it up turning it so I can look at it and what I see shocks me. It was a picture of mom and Jyrki 69 kissing. Did he break her heart? Is that why she gets mad when I play their music? I have to get to the bottom of this. As I put the picture in my pocket Mom calls, "Elise!!!" So I pick the box up and head back down stairs. She says, "There you are." Then as she starts going through the box I pull out the picture and ask, "Mom why do you have a picture of you and Jyrki 69 kissing?" She asks in a panicked tone, "Where did you get that?" I say, "It fell out of the box." Then mom sighs and says, "Elise sit down. I should have told you this a long time ago." I sit and listen intently.

Mom says, "When I was 20 I lived in Finland for a while. One night my friends and I went to a popular bar in the area. The 69 Eyes were playing that night. As I watched them I was mesmerized by Jyrki and when the show was over he came up to me and asked me out. Soon we began dating and one night things got....heated. Then I found out I was pregnant and when I told him he was beyond excited. The night you were born changed both our lives. We were so happy." I ask, "Then why did he leave?" Mom replies, "I left him. If we stayed together our lives would've been put in the public eye. I wanted a normal life for you. I still loved Jyrki but, I thought I was doing what was best for you. Not too long after that I met Eric and we married when you were tow months old. When we first got married he was all sweetness and smiles but, then he changed. He got jealous of Jyrki because we stayed in touch and he flipped when he found out. Not only that but I couldn't go anywhere alone, or dress a certain way. Before I met Eric I was a lot like you. Also he became more greedy and decided the money you made from your shows was his. He also made me mistreat you if I didn't he'd hit me. I know I could never earn your forgiveness darling but, I am so sorry." This was a lot to take in.

I ask, "Why didn't you leave him?" Mom replies, "I tried but, one night he grabbed you from me and put a knife to your throat saying he'd kill you if I did." Then I asked, "Has Jyrki ever tried to see me?" Mom answers, "He has seen you quite a few times. The last time he did you were about four. I gave him a picture of you on your 18th birthday. That's one reason why I wanted you to get the box." She pulls out all these envelopes handing them to me and says, "These are for you." I ask, "What are they?" She replies, "Birthday cards. He sent you one every year." I ask, "Why are you giving me these now?" Mom says, "I hid them before Eric could see them. I told myself I'd tell you about him when you were old enough." I needed some air I grabbed my jacket and walked out the door. Then I texted Jinxx:
Elise: Need to talk. URGENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Coffee shop?
Jinxx: On my way.
