Kissing the Concrete

Chapter 28: Out of this town

I stood frozen to the ground as everyone started more or less panicking. What was happening? In just a few seconds, people turned on the flashlight on their phones and started looking around. I did the same, but I couldn't see further than my feet. The place was crowded, and so all the light that my phone sent off was absorbed by the people around me. A loud voice started screaming for everyone to keep quiet and slowly, the initial buzz from the upset audience lowered. I wanted to hold on to someone, but I didn't know anyone in the crowd. I was scared of what was to come.

"Okay!" The loud voice said. People aimed their flashlights at the man so that he was visible, he looked like he was in his mid 40's, somewhat overweight. "Somebody cut the powerlines to this place, so no instruments or microphones appear to be working. We have to interupt the show, so if everyone, calmly walks to the exit, everything is going to be fine."

Just as he finished the sentence and everyone started walking out the building, an arm grabbed me and tried dragging me away from the audience. In pure shock I screamed, which caught the attention of Andy from the other side of the room.

"IRIS!"

"ANDY!"

I still couldn't see anything of worth, all I could see was the arm that persistently tried dragging me away from the crowd and bodies moving towards the exit. With my other arm, I tried pushing the person away, but it was impossible. The person was insanely strong.

"IRIS WHERE ARE YOU?"

"ANDY!"

I could hear the sound of him trying to get through the crowd and I saw his flashlight, indicating that he was there struggling to get over to me. My entire body was leaning away, yet the dragging kept on. I didn't know what was in that direction, all I knew was that I didn't want to go.

Almost giving in to the dragging, I saw Andy's face about ten feet in front of me. We made eye contact for a brief moment and he rushed over to me. I still tried focusing on getting the arm away from me, almost falling to the floor doing so. As a final resort, I decided to lie down on the floor. The hands grip finally let go when Andy reached me and the perpetrator dissapeared. What did just happen?

"Iris." Andy said as he embraced me. I was still in shock, yet to have stood up from the floor. The crowd kept on walking out but for me, it seemed as if time has frozen.

"Andy." I whispered gently. "I think someone's after me."

I told him everything about the letter, about what had happened and a worried expression struck his perfect facial features.

"You should have told me Iris. It didn't matter that I would be worried, as long as I know what is happening. I would have come out looking for you as soon as the power went if I knew about the letter."

"I know."

We decided to get out of town for the weekend. Andy didn't want me to be alone as long as he knew that there was a potential stalker out there. As soon as we got out of the building we sat down in his car and minutes later we were driving. It was dark outside, but the city lights were enough to keep us going. The ride felt menacing for some reason. I felt as if every car we passed was going to hit us, hopefully Andy didn't feel the same. We were silent for most of the ride, holding hands. It took the longest time, I didn't even know where we were going. Atleast I would be safe.

As the night turned into dawn, I saw a city skyline rise before us. I guess we had reached our destination. Another city for a new weekend.

Notes

I am leaving in like, seconds, but I wanted to update this really quickly. This chapter was rather calm, but I will be having a scenario where every two or three chapters or so are more dramatic.

Also, 4000+ views! Wow, thanks! It is truly incredible to see the positive response!

I will attemp to update this story once more today, but I don't know if it will be possible. If it is, then you can look forward to a dramatic chapter...
