Kissing the Concrete
Chapter 14: Breakfast on the roof
I pulled away from his lips after a while, since I was running out of breath. Our eyes met for a few seconds before I threw myself in his arms. His hands moved along my back and I smiled, despite still being in doubt over what I felt about him. I kissed his neck gently and he chuckled.
"I love you, Iris. I just hope you one day will be certain of what you feel."
"I-I just don't wanna lose you. I don't wanna lose this." I said, sobbing between my words.
"You won't lose me. Because I don't wanna lose you either."
"Thank you for being here when no one else was."
He kissed my neck lightly, still not letting go of me.
"Please don't leave me."
At around 6 a.m., I woke up, Andy's arm wrapped around me. We had fallen asleep, spooning on top of the covers, and I wondered what this meant for us. Were we a couple? Did I want us to be a couple? I tried to lift Andy's arm so that I could get up, but he tightened his grip around me. Suddenly, I heard his voice whisper in my ear.
"Good morning Iris."
Turned around to meet his semi-opened blue eyes. They were piercing, almost hypnotizing.
"Good morning Andrew. Do you want breakfast?"
"Yeah, sure." He closed his eyes and I felt his arm against the skin of my back, right underneath the edge of my shirt. His other hand grabbed the back of my bare knee. His grip of me tightened and he kissed my forehead. I could stay like this forever.
We got up without changing and went to the kitchen. Looking through the fridge, I realized there were not much breakfast food available, but I found the ingredients for pancakes in one of the cabinets. While I was cooking, Andy sat on the kitchen counter and drew, with the help of some charcoal he found in the cabinet.
"You know, I have an idea that I think you'll like, if you wanna come with me." I said, as soon as I was done with making the breakfast.
He nodded and grabbed my hand. I brought the tray with the food upstairs and up to the attic, opened the attic window and led us up on the roof. It was still slightly moist from last night's rain, but I didn't care. The view was marvelous, the city skyline against the gorgeous peach-colored sky made my heart flutter.
"This is beautiful!" Andy exclaimed, turning to me with a heartwarming smile.
"As long as we're careful not to fall down, everything is going to be just fine." I said
"I was never afraid of falling down from here."
"Well maybe I am. But I thought breakfast in a kitchen was boring, and I thought I'd be more exciting. Now we have breakfast of the roof."
"Don't be scared, I've got you. Breakfast on the roof huh? There's a rebellious side to you, Iris!"
"Guess so."
As we consumed our breakfast, we slowly watched the sun rise. The dawn slowly turned into day and the peach-colored sky slowly turned blue. This was our second sunrise we witnessed together, and it wouldn't be our last.
Notes
1,500+ views. I am amazed by this! First page amongst popular stories! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Once again, not much action. I wanted to update the story though, so I did my best. I really liked this chapter, although the endless morning-chapters might be annoying to read and a bit of a cliché at this point. I would love to hear your input!
I've updated this story a lot since I started, Atleast thrice a day with the exception of the first day, since I started this project a late evening. I think it has come a long way and I do enjoy it. Hopefully there will be more action with the rest of the band in the near future. I really love writing about CC for instance.
