The Boy With The Blue Eyes
First Meet
Angel walked through her front door, throwing her keys into a dish on a dark wooden cabinet in the hallway. She dropped her bag and walked through the door to the living room. "Mum, I'm home!" she called. There was no response. Angel walked back into the hallway, grabbed her bag and trudged upstairs to her room. She was about to start on her homework, when she heard a car door slam outside. There were usually hardly any visitors to their street, people only came to visit family who lived there, or to play dares in the forest behind the houses. She walked into her mum's room to see what was happening outside. "Angel! Get out!" Her mum shouted.
"Oops, sorry! I didn't think you were home," Angel said, running out of the room.
"It's fine, I was just changing. I'm going to see our new neighbours, and see if they need any help moving in, want to come with me?" Her mum asked.
"Sure," Angel said, walking back into her mum's room to look out of the window. She saw a big white removal van and three men moving boxes into the house next door. Angel ran downstairs to put her shoes back on and followed her mum out into the street.
"How do we know whose house it is?" Angel asked, looking at the three men.
"Well, that man has the name of the removal company on his shirt," her mum replied, pointing to a middle-aged, balding man,"so I doubt it's his, and that boy looks too young, so it must be this man over here." She said, walking over to a man wearing jeans and a plain black t-shirt, moving boxes from the van onto the grass, ready for the boy to move into the house. Angel's mum walked over to the man, and she followed close behind.
"Hello, I'm Judy, your new neighbour." Her mum smiled and extended her hand for the man to shake. The man stopped unloading boxes and turned to look at them.
"Chris," he said, returning the smile and shaking Judy's hand politely.
"This is Angelique," her mum said, motioning for Angel to stand next to her, "but she prefers to be called Angel."
"Pleasure to meet you both," Chris smiled and shook Angel's hand too, "this here is Andy," he said, as a boy with long dark hair wearing black skinny jeans and a black t-shirt with 'Nickelback' written along the top walked over to stand next to him.
"Hi," he said quietly, looking down at his shoes. Angel gave a small wave and smile.
"So, would you like any help moving in?" Judy asked, eyeing all of the boxes in the back of the van.
"That would be great, thank you." Chris accepted. Angel wasn't too sure, but something seemed strange about Andy, and she couldn't stop staring at him. She shook it off and helped carry the boxes into the hallway of the house next door.
For the rest of the afternoon, Angel and Judy helped Chris and Andy move boxes and furniture into their new house, until they were finished and Judy decided it was time to take Angel home to have something to eat.
"Thank you for your help," Chris said, waving goodbye.
"No problem!" Judy called from across her front garden, and walked back into her own house, with Angel following. "They were nice, weren't they, Love," her mum smiled at her.
"Yeah," Angel replied, "I have to finish my homework, see you in a bit."
"Okay," Her mum replied, walking into the kitchen to make some dinner for the both of them.
But Angel couldn't concentrate on her homework, she was too busy thinking about Andy. There was something about him which seemed familiar, but she wasn't sure what it was yet...
