Performing at the cafe

Today I have a performance at the café down the street. It used to be really run down, but ever since I played there one time when I had nothing to do, people have loved me. The café has been hiring me to play a few times a week. I love playing for people. It is relaxing. I am just about to leave for the café. It’s really popular in LA. It’s going to be great. Alright. I just got to the café. I am all ready to go on stage. Okay, I’m on! I’m going to be playing an original song I wrote called: The Cold, Hard, Truth. Alright, let’s look at the crowd tonight. It used to be a lot of older people, like people in their 40’s and 50’s. But now that I am playing, I guess the word has gotten out. Now the majority of them are in their 20’s or 30’s. The café really likes the new crowd. They get more business from younger people, because they buy a lot of coffee. So tonight, there’s a lot of young people. I recognize some of them from my classes. I get to the front by the microphone as usual. “Hi everyone. My name is Sara, and tonight I will be playing an original song I wrote a little while ago. It’s called: The Cold, Hard, Truth. I hope you guys enjoy.” I sit down on the stool they give me every time I come. It amazes me how much people enjoy my music. I never thought I would end up doing this. In high school, I wasn’t sure what I would ever do. To be honest, I thought I wouldn’t stay in college that long. I was almost done with my song when I heard the café door open. There’s bells on the door, so people know when someone comes inside. I didn’t think anything of it. I mean, how is it weird for someone to come inside the café. I finished my song, and stood up. “Thank you everyone.” I said into the mic. Everyone was clapping so loud. They love my music. I bowed a little bit, and then I turned around and walked off stage. I didn’t know whether to go home or stay for a bit. I was still deciding when all of the sudden someone tapped on my shoulder. Why was someone tapping me on my shoulder? That is a little immature. I turned around, and I jumped. There in front of me stood a memory. A memory that was shoved out of my head a long time ago. A memory that should’ve stayed out of my head. Now it was right in front of me. “Je-Je-Jeremy?”
