Love or Infatuation

I get into my house to see my parents sitting, staring at the blank TV screen. I walk into the kitchen and pour myself a glass of fruit punch.

"Sam sweetie, please come out to the living room." My mother calls. I place my glass on the counter and walk out, this can't be good.

"I got a call from your teacher today, do you know why?" My dad asks, this isn't a real question, it's those fake ones. "Your math teacher said you and another student walked out of his classroom."

"Why'd you do it Sam?" Mom asks.

"Mom can I talk to you in private?" I ask.

"No, whatever you can say in front of her, you can say in front of me." Dad says.

"I started my period and the teacher wouldn't let me go to the nurse's office to get a tampon." I lie, I can't let them know I do drugs. That's how I get sent to counselling, rehab, and any other shit hole. I'm already going to high school, it's best I don't make it worse.

"I probably should have let you talk to your mother alone. Forget everything that was said, you can go to your room." Dad says awkwardly. I grab my glass of juice from the kitchen and retreat to my chamber.

It's time I get to sleep. I'm ready to forget today. I want to forget the disappointed face of Mr Smith. I want to forget Andy being mad at me for no reason. I want to forget Jeremy shouting at me. I want to forget it all and more. And of course, that's what sleep is for. I fall onto my queens size bed and fall asleep instantly.




Wednesday.

Andy didn't speak to me at all yesterday, which I am thankful for. I wasn't prepared to be shouted at of nothing. And yesterday I found out who was at the skatepark. Kat told me about her boyfriend, Ashley, and also pointed out who the others were. I told her that I knew Jinxx and asked why he called himself that. She simply shrugged and carried on telling me about Ashley. Unlike Kat I am a virgin, whereas she is not even close. She's hot and has a great personality, hell if I was gay I'd go for that. But I'm not and I'm still a virgin.

It's lunch already and I decide not to eat. I'm not starving myself or anything, I'm just not hungry. I decide to take a walk for the lunch break instead. I glance over at the smokers section, there's a couple of popular people, a few stoners, and Andy. He sees me staring and walks over.

"I'm sorry." What? I thought I was gonna be yelled at.

"For what? I'm the one who angered you." I ask.

"Can we take a walk away from the school?" He asks and I nod.

His arm goes around my shoulder and we walk a couple of blocks away from the school. He turns to face me and my eyes go to my favourite thing, the ground.

"I'm sorry for getting all pissy with you. The reason I was mad is because I hate drugs and I hate the fact that you do them. Drugs kill people and your someone I don't want dead." He says bringing a huge smile to my face. He doesn't want me dead, that's the sweetest thing a guy has ever said to me.

"I'm sorry I made you upset, I'll try to keep off them." I say bringing a soft smile to his face. Oh those lips of his, just one touch and I can die a happy soul.

"We should start walking back to the school." He says and his arm slides around my waist. We walk back to the school and get there just as the bell rings. Too bad I have to wait seventy five minutes to see that face again.




Math.

Today we have a test on how much we know so far, it's twenty minutes in and I already finished. I hand my paper to the teacher and ask for the bathroom pass. He hands it over and I wink at Andy in the way out. I walk down the hall and to my locker. I throw out any empty water bottles or last year's papers. I come across this one paper.

This obviously isn't meant for me. This is probably meant for the locker next to mine, a simple mistake. But I'm just gonna hold onto this for awhile. I put it on the shelf in my locker and shut it tight. At least while I have time off, I might as well go visit my favourite teacher. I run to the art room and knock on the already open door. Miss Green's teaching a class, oops.

"Sam my dear, come in. I was just teaching the class how to work with chalk." She's obviously working with a grade nine class.

"I just thought I'd stop by and ask you a question." I say.

"I'll be back in a minute class." We walk out to the hall.

"What would you like to ask Sam?"

"Jeremy Ferguson is your nephew right?" I ask.

"Yes, he goes by Jinxx now for some reason."

"Do you happen to know the reason?"

"I'm sorry dear, I don't. But I can ask him for you."

"No, I'll find out, you carry on with the freshmen."

"Bye Sam."

I walk back to class and place the pass back on Smith's desk. I sit in my desk, take out my earbuds and press play. 'A Match Into Water' by Pierce The Veil plays and I tap along to the beat. Soon enough, the final bell rings and we're all set free.

"Samantha, you free to hang out tonight?" Andy asks. We walk down the hall.

"I thought you were done calling me that." I say as I throw my stuff into my locker and grab my board.

"What? Calling you your name?" He asks with a smug smile.

"I can't hang out tonight, the folks are out of town and will be till Sunday, so they want me to stay home after school."

"So what you're saying is you're home alone now?"

"Well yes, but no. My brother didn't go with them but seeing I'm in charge, I'll let him hangout with his friends."

"We can still hangout."

"No, rule number one is no boys in the house."

"One, I'm not a boy, I'm a man. Two, who can stop me?" He asks biting his lip.

"Okay fine." I regret this already.
