I sat out in the middle of the ground, basking in the rays of sunshine that were left. This was going to be my last sunset, the last rays of sunshine that will touch my skin. If this was my last day alive, or as a human, I was planning on making the most of the sun. The golden orb up in the sky that has saved my life numerous times. Tears began to burn in my eyes as the sun began to dip below the horizon, and began to spill over onto my cheeks as the final rays disappeared into the dark.
"Come on Purdy, time to go." A gruff voice said above me, and I looked up and saw someone standing there. He gripped my upper arm, yanking me to my feet quickly. I grit my teeth against the pain, and followed him without questions. A mile away from the rebellion's base sat one of the prisoner transport trucks that the vamps used to move humans from city to city. He shoved me into the back and snapped a heavy chain around my wrist before slamming the door behind him and starting the truck. It was pitch black in the truck, the only sounds were my breathing and the sound of the truck moving along. The sounds began to lull me to sleep, and I slid onto the cold metal floor and drifted off.

I woke up to the truck stopping, and harsh voices yelling. Within seconds I had stood up and was fully awake, noting that the cuff was now detached from my wrist. The door opened, and the lights from the vampyre city flooded in temporarily blinding me. Suddenly I was thrown over a shoulder and hauled out of the truck. I fought against my captor, relieved when he dropped me to the ground. He glared at me, his eyes flaring a dull red.
"Watch it human." He snapped at me, before appraising me. His eyes raked over my body hungrily, making me feel sick to my stomach.
"Fuck off." I spit at him, hitting him dead in the eye. He growled angrily, grabbing me by my throat. I had been in this situation so much that the desired effect of me being scared had vanished. I raised an eyebrow at him, a small smirk playing on my lips.
"Oh, what's the big bad leech gonna do to me? Kill me?" I taunted, feeling his grip tighten on my throat. Black spots danced in my vision, but I refused to let him see my panic.
"Drop him Marcus." A familiar voice said, and I fell to the ground. I gasped in air, coughing from the feeling of my throat popping back. Looking up I saw Jinxx and Sammi standing there, glaring at the vampire, Marcus, in disapproval.
"I don't want you killing one of my best friends." Jinxx said, and I saw Marcus flinch. I also flinched when Jinxx referred to me as one of his best friends, and I saw Sammi wipe away a tear. She also saw me flinch.
"Ashley, come on." Jinxx said, pulling me to my feet. I recoiled at his touch, instinctively balling my fists.
"Ash, we're not gonna hurt you." Sammi said, but I refused to look at them. They allowed themselves to become this.

"Ashley!" I heard Jake and CC yell out, and I backed away farther into the corner of the room I was in. They both looked hurt by the action and the semi-murderous look in my eyes. I saw Jake sigh before leaning his head into CC's shoulder, and CC kissed his cheek.
"Well, I guess five years is the amount of time it takes for you two to notice the undeniable chemistry between you." I said sarcastically, seeing Jinxx and Sammi stifle their laughter.
"Sorry I'm late I-" Andy walked into the room, and this time fear made itself known. There was a small stream of blood trickling down from the corner of Andy's lips, and a fair amount on his clothing. His crystal blue eyes were a ruby red, slowly fading into their blue. This wasn't the Andy I remembered.
"Ashes?" I cringed at the use of my old nickname from Andy. He walked towards me, but Jinxx held an arm out and stopped him.
"No, let him adjust." Jinxx said softly, before walking out of the room with Sammi, CC and Jake. The door closed behind them, leaving Andy and I alone in the room.
