I drove at what felt like breakneck speeds towards where I believed, no felt, Ashley was. Jinxx was in the passenger's seat, his nails making deep gouges in the leather of my car. CC was holding tightly onto Jake who was praying to someone. Sammi was shaking like a leaf in her seat, gripping the seat belt with an iron fist.
"Andy that is the main rebellion base. We don't go there because... over a thousand vampires have died on their grounds. And I kind of like being alive." CC said, and I chuckled.
"Chickenshit! You're such a pu-" Jinxx clamped his hand over my mouth and gave me a warning look.
"Andy, we all love you. But right now you just need to focus on driving!" Jinxx shouted the last part as I swerved to avoid a tree. There was the sound of screeching metal and I looked in the mirror to see the headrest of my seat ripped off. Jake was clutching it tightly in his hands and he he gulped audibly. I rolled my eyes and swerved onto a road that led to the base. There were vampyres getting killed left and right, and bullets began to pepper my car.
We finally pulled up to the main gate and I yanked off my white t-shirt and waved it around outside my window.
"We aren't here to fight! I need to talk to your leader!" I yelled out, and the bullets stopped. There was a grinding noise and the gates opened.
"If you are here to harm any of us, we will kill you in a heartbeat." One man yelled, and I drove quickly through the gates. Humans ran around, grabbing new weapons or getting more ammo. There was a tap on my window and I looked over to see a woman with fading red hair holding a double crossbow and had various knives all over her.
"Step out of the car and put your hands behind your heads." She commanded and I got out slowly with my hands behind my head like asked. The others did the same, and she eyed us before lowering her weapon slightly.
"If you try to attack anyone or attempt to gather information about the goings of this base I will kill you." She threatened before motioning for us to follow her. We walked down a series of hallways until we reached what seemed like a command center where in the middle was a man shouting out orders in a British accent...
"Holy shit it's Danny!" Jake exclaimed and he looked over at us. I could see both hurt and anger in Danny's eyes as he headed over to us. He grabbed a shotgun off of a table and cocked it at us.
"What do you all want? I'm in the middle of a battle here!" He yelled and I sighed.
"Ashley is in trouble... he's going to die if you don't let me help him!" I shook my hands at him and heard guns cocking all over the room. Danny gave me a dirty look before shoving the barrel of the gun right under my chin.
"Well Andy, he wouldn't be in this bloody mess if you hadn't of bitten him! He's already accidentally killed someone." Danny hissed at me, and I felt a sudden sinking sensation in my stomach.
"I honestly didn't mean to! Please Danny you need to let me help him." I pleaded and Danny sighed in frustration before lowering his gun. He started walking out of the room, and I followed him down another series of hallways until he reached a thick door. I could hear Ashley wheezing and coughing, along with a smell I was very familiar with...
Blood.
"He's bleeding..." I whispered and Danny yanked open the door. Ashley was sprawled on the floor, partially on his side. He looked up when the door opened and I saw his eyes flash a crystal blue before going back to normal. Blood was oozing out of his nose, the corners of his eyes, some from his ears, and then there was a lot dripping from his mouth.
"No..." He whimpered, his body beginning to tremble before he had to lean over to cough up some blood. I rushed over and knelt by him, not liking how cold his skin was under my touch. Mariah had said that I would know what to do when I was here, but I was still unsure. Ashley shivered in my arms, before coughing up even more blood. His blood didn't smell the same... like he hadn't fed in forever. I had come across vampyres like that, and they were on the brink of death.
"I know this seems like a stupid question but have you given him blood? Human, animal it doesn't matter. He needs it Danny!" I turned around and Danny had a look of both surprise and anger on his face.
"I didn't know he would need it! He's only a half vampyre!" I growled under my breath before turning back to Ashley. Then it hit me; I needed to give Ashley blood. Vampyre blood is extremely potent, and is only allowed to be used in extreme emergencies and only if allowed by the council. But Ashley needed it right now, otherwise he was going to die.
I lifted my arm and bit into my wrist and made sure that the blood was flowing freely from the bite. Ashley's eyes flashed back into that crystal blue and I heard a small moan of pain. I put my wrist right up against his mouth, feeling the blood begin to drip into his mouth. Hands gripped my arm as Ashley fed, and I felt moans bubbling in my throat. Another thing about vampyres feeding off each other; it was extremely... sexual. Ashley stopped and his head fell against my chest, clearly asleep.
"Danny I'll cut you a deal. Jinxx and Sammi are the council members of the area, and I can have them ban all vampyres, or most, from attacking the base. I could even get you some medicine and food if you really need it." I turned and saw Danny giving me a wary look.
"What's the catch?" He asked and I sighed.
"You need to let us teach Ashley how to control it. He's only a dhampir, meaning that he needs to exert more self control. He needs to drink blood, and if you don't like him drinking human get him animal. Please Danny, I lost him once already. If you don't let us help him he will die." Danny let out a deep sigh.
"Deal Andy. But if you betray us... I'll personally let Ashley kill you for doing this to him."
