A few weeks have past and we started recording a few songs. So far we are only a cover band. Since neither of us have experience in writing we decided to take it slow. We’ve covered many songs by Florence & The Machine, Marina & The Diamonds, and especially songs by Black Veil Brides.
The very first day of recording Andy stopped by with the rest of the band to introduce us and so he could show them what we were all about. They walked in halfway through Carolyn. I looked and saw Andy’s smile. He always said my voice brought him joy; he thought about how he started off like me and how I remind him of himself so much. I also noticed the other guys were impressed. I also noticed Jinxx eyeing Scar a little bit.

“You’re not alone, and we’ll brave this storm and face today. You’re not alone.” I finished off the song. I looked up and saw Andy clapping though I couldn’t hear him.

The girls and I walked out of the room to join everyone else.

“Once again you did amazing. You’re a better singer than I am Crystal!” Andy laughed.

“Ha! Please, I wish to be half the singer that you are.” I said and took a drink of water.

“Oh shut up. You are! Just ask anybody. Right Ashley?” Andy smiled at his friend who was eyeing me up and down. I couldn’t help but giggle a little bit when all eyes went on his now red face.

“Uh, yea girl. You are amazing. Way better than Andy. Good drummer too.” Ashley winked at Anna.

“Good luck winning her over Ashley. She’s a tough one.” I laughed. I turned to look at Anna who was clearly annoyed by Ashley’s ‘compliment.’ She loves this band too death, but she always said something about Ashley made her blood boil. Clearly this was it.

“Right… I should introduce you guys. Jake, Jinxx, CC, Ashley this is Crystal, Anna, Iris, and Scar. Other wise known as Literally Black. Girls, you know who they are.” Andy gave us a side smirk.

“Of course we know who you are, we wouldn’t be covering your songs if we didn’t” Iris said sarcastically, making everyone laugh.

“That’s right. You’re our heroes, inspiration, our dedication. Our-” I began but was cut off.

“Her obsession.” Scar yelled, making my face boil. They didn’t need to know that. “Your tight jeans are just a plus.” she continued. Our mouths flew open. My eyes darted at her. I knew she had a Purdy Mind, but to say it out loud.

She just grinned as if she accomplished something amazing. Which in her mind she probably did. Our conversation continued awkwardly after that slip made by Scar. The one thing I love about her is that she can come off as the shyest girl on this planet put push the right buttons and she unleashes in a crazy girl. Once you get to know her she is so much fun to be around; he dirty mind is just a plus.

The following days were a blast, they lads were always coming to watch us and we grew extremely close. They somehow become our close friends. They would always give us pointers to get better. Jake would help me learn some cool riffs, while Andy helped me learn how to do a high pitch scream like he sometimes does. CC would help Anna on some things. Ashley would help Iris, but mostly just flirt with her. However Iris knew better than to fall for him. He clearly had his eye on Anna.
The cutest little pair though was Jinxx and Scar. I didn’t know I believed in soul mates until I saw them together. They are literally made for each other it was too cute to watch. They way they would get awkward whenever he would hold her hand in place with the violin. Or how they would talk about classical music and play it, I couldn’t help but stare at them.

“What are you staring at?” I heard Andy ask. Jake had left to take a call on his phone and I was left with Andy.

“Oh sorry, I was just watching Scar and Jinxx.” I smiled.

“Aren’t they just the cutest. I told him to make a move, but he doesn’t want to scare her off.” he laughed.

“Well Scar’s not one to frighten easily. So you too think they are perfect for each other?” I asked him.

“I didn’t believe in soul mates till I saw them.” he laughed, “What about you? Do you believe in soul mates?” he asked.

“No, well…I don’t believe that someone is specifically made for you. You can have more than one person in this world that you will fall in love with, it’s just whoever you find first or whoever sticks around through all the crap in life.” I told him.

“I believed in soul mates once. That was a stupid mistake.” he grinned, then his face turned serious. “I use to dream about this. Being in a band with my four best friends. Touring the world meeting people just like me who like my music. This was always what I pictured myself doing. Making music and performing it for my fans. Though I always pictured someone by my side. Someone there for me to emotionally support me through it all. I thought I had that once, she thought she was strong enough to handle the pressure of dating a rock star, but she wasn’t. No one ever has been able to. I dreamt that I would have someone…” he grinned, “Guess that’s the only thing that hasn’t happened in my life that I want.”

There was a silence, “You’ll find her Andy. You’re an amazing person who has had the luck to achieve so many things in life at such a young age. Give it some time and she’ll come around. You didn’t become a rock star one night to the next. Besides you have nothing to worry about, you’re a good looking guy, I’m sure there is someone in this world who’s eye you’ll catch. Afterwards they’ll see the real you and how amazing you are. They’ll fall in love with you.” I smiled at him. He was looking down playing with his lighter.

“Do you think you’ll ever find that person?” he asked me.

“In all honesty, I haven’t thought about being with anyone right now. Especially now that I’m actually starting something big in my life. I don’t think I’ll have time.”

“Don’t you want someone to support you emotionally?” he looked up at me, his eyes narrowed.

“I have friends for that. My band mates and now I have you guys.” I gave him a small smile. “You’ll have me. Until you find that special someone, I’ll be here for you Andy.” he smiled at me and moved closer to me. Wrapping his arm around me.

“You’ll have me too, Crystal.”

There was a silence between us. We could hear the laughter coming from everyone else. I looked at their smiles, the joy in their eyes. Their dreams were coming true, all they ever wanted in life, they were living it.

“Andy? What would you have done if your life didn’t turn out the way you wanted it to?” I asked him.

“I don’t know. I think that one way or another I would have made this happen for me. I had no other plan in mind, no plan B. I think that’s what people need so the achieve their dream, no plan B. One way or another, I would be here. This was my dream, isn’t it yours? What do you dream about?” he asked me.

“This. This is what I’ve always wanted. I just want to sing.” I whispered.

“Then do it. Do what you want in this life, you only have one.” he said.

“You giving me YOLO advice?” we both laughed.

“I have a feeling this is the start of a really good friendship.” he smiled.

“Yea, I was thinking the same thing.” I smiled.

“Looks like our band mate’s think the same too.” he laughed, I turned and looked at everyone. They were all laughing, having a good time.

“C’mon lets go join them.” I grabbed Andy’s hand and pulled him with everyone else.

He was right this was the start of a really good friendship, not just between us, but with everyone. I just can’t help thinking that I’m living my dream, this is it. This is the best moment of my life. When we walked in they handed us the bottle they were drinking and two glasses. Andy poured us two shots, “Cheers to the good years.” he said, laughing. I clicked his glass and took the shot.
