Finding Grace

Finding Out (3)

Andys POV

I held my head in my hands, staring at the floor between my boots.
"She's pregnant," I repeated bleakly. "What am I gonna do?"
"Suck it up."
I raised my head, looking at Ronnie where he sat beside me, holding a bottle of whiskey in his hand.
"Do you think when Crissy told me she was pregnant that I wanted a kid?" he asked, shaking his head. "I was floored. I didn't want that responsibility. But now that Willows born, I couldn't imagine my life without her. I love that kid. And I want to be a great dad to her too. And you're gonn be good one too, man."
He patted my shoulder reassuringly.
"I thought she was cheating on me," I muttered, shaking my head when he offered me his bottle. "With Ashley. I think I preferred it."
"Nah," Ronnie shook his head and climbed to his feet, yawning.
"Leahs a good girl, Andy, she's sweet. And crazy about you, everyone can see it. I've never Seen her give another guy a second look. She's for real, man. If she says she's pregnant, she is. And you better believe it's yours before you make the mistake of saying it's not. They don't like it when you do that." he sighed.
Why did I have the feeling he'd already tried that escape route?
I sighed, running my hands through my hair.
"I know it's mine."
"Then stop your bitching!" he sat the whiskey on the counter, screwing the lid on. "And pull on your man pants, because if she's as hormonal as Crissy was, you're gonna have a time with it."
Fuck.
I frowned down at my hands.
I hadn't known where to go, so I'd come to Ronnie.
If Ash hadn't already been involved, he would've been my go to guy.
Why hadn't he told me? Why had he known before me? Why had she waited so long to tell me?
Probably because she thought you'd react like you did, my mind told me grimly.
You ran out on her.
You weren't there for her, you haven't been sincd Warped started.
She'd had that burden to carry for a while. Leaving you to be completely oblivious and carefree.
Man up!
Call your dad!
Call the church!
You got a family to care for!
"I need to find Leah," I said after a moment. "Apologize. I just ran out and completely left her. Like an asshole. I thought my life was over."
"You think it now, but that kid will be the best thing that ever happened to you." Ronnie told me seriously. "And Leah is the equivalent to an angel. So don't fuck it up with her. She's been a very good girlfriend to you from the sounds of it."
She really had been.
And she was an angel.
My angel.
I stood, hearing thunder start in the distance.
"Thanks, Ronnie," I muttered, heading to the door, and he nodded.
"Take care of your family, Andy. They're all you got in the long run. Fame doesn't last forever."
Amen.
I hopped off the bus, glancing up at the angry clouds gathering in the sky as I made my way down the rows. I fished my phone out of my pocket and frowned, seeing eight missed calls from Ash.
"Ash ---." I started, wanting to apologize.
"Leahs gone!" Ashley burst, interrupting me. "I've looked everywhere for her, and there's a bad storm coming!"
"Have you tried calling her?"
"She left it on the bus! Dude, I've looked everywhere."
My chest tightened.
Leah!
"Keep looking," I told him, sprinting forward. "We gotta find her! Have you checked with Motionless?"
"No, I'm searching the grounds right now."
"Fuck. I'll check them, call me if you find her!" I said loudly, thunder booming over us.
Rain started to pelt from the sky as I pounded on the MIW bus. The door opened, amd Chris stared down at me in surprise.
"What ---?"
"Is Leah here?" I demanded desperately, praying she was.
"Leah? No, man. Why?"
"Well have you seen her in the last hour?" I pressed. "We had a fight and I left--- we can't find her anywhere and," I glanced up at the rain as it soaked me, "it's storming."
Ricky Horror appeared behind him.
"I saw her leaving the gates in a hurry about forty-five minutes ago," he said worriedly. "She looked upset."
"Which direction?"
"Left."
I tore away from their bus, and started running, heading for the gates.
I had to find her
! "Wait up!" I glanced over, seeing Chris keeping pace beside me. "I'll help you find her. The guys are gonna look around town."
"Thanks," I huffed. Reaching the gates. We turned left, the rain pelting our skin as we hurried forward, my eyes searching desperately for her.
I was so afraid.
Where was she? She was gonna get sick in this cold!
"What did you fight over that's so bad both of you ran off?" Chris asked, his breath visible through the rain. He shielded his eyes as he looked around, hair plastered to his face.
"I'm an asshole," was all I said, striding forward to find a playground, swings flying wildly with the rain.
Except for one.
"Leah?"
I ran to the small form huddled on one of the swings, and fell to my knees into the puddle at her feet. I placed my hands on
her face, forcing it to move, her skin chilled to the touch. "Leah," I said in relief, thunder booming over us and shaking the ground.
She blinked at me.
"Baby, I'm so sorry," I told her, brushing her hair from her face. "I'm so sorry."
Her lips trembled as she looked at me.
"I am t-too," she said after a moment, teeth chattering, and I shirked out of my jacket, knowing it wasn't much but it was more then she had. I draped it over her, flicking the hood over her hair
. "It's not your fault," I told her, slowly rising to my feet, mud running down my black jeans. "But let's get out of this storm. You shouldn't be out here."
She pulled away from me. "No."
"No?" I stared at her.
"You don't want it," she started to cry. "You don't want us."
"Angel, that's not true," I told her quickly, crouching beside her. "I do want it. You. Both of you. I --- I was just so shocked earlier, I didn't know how to react."
"No!" she shot to her feet, staggering away from me. "Don't touch me!"
"Leah ---." I cast a nervous glance upward as the sky sparked. "We can't be out here! We gotta go!"
"Leah," Chris jogged over to us, as soaked as I was. "Come on. You two can fight it out in a bus."
Leah stared at him, my hood falling off her hair. Her face was streaked with black, and her eyes were swollen and bloodshot.
She looked miserable.
And it was all my fault.
I stepped to her, and raised my hand to her face.
"Leah., I love you, so much. And I'm gonna love this baby, too. I'm not gonna leave you again, do you hear me?" I made her look at me. "Ever. I'm here for good. And we're gonna have this baby, and you're gonna move in with me, and it's gonna be great, okay?"
The words spewed from my mouth, but I meant every one. I did love her, I couldn't imagine my life without her. And my apartment had a spare room, we would make it work.
Everything would work out.
It would be fine.
Leahs eyes searched mine, and she seemed to believe me, her cold fingers clenching mine.
"Okay," she whispered, and I pulled the wet hood back over her hair. I pulled her to me, and then lifted her into my arms, feeling how shaky she was.
Chris was staring at us in shock.
"Baby he asked as we started back to Warped, Leahs face pressed against my neck.
"Yeah," I sighed. "We're gonna have a baby."
