Rise From the Ashes

Violet's POV:

I sucked in a quick breath, "what did you just say?"

Andy's grim expression never wavered as he repeated, "F.E.A.R has captured more if our recruits."

I glance at him expectantly, waiting for him to continue with with his grand rescue plan, but he stays silent. My gaze wanders to the four other guys around the room, but they all avoid my glance and stay silent. My eyes widen at their silence and I approach the table, placing my palms flat on the map, my eyes smouldering as I look into Andy's baby blue ones.

"What are we going to do about that then?" I saw slowly, keeping my tone monotone.

He answers just as flatly, "nothing. We can't do anything."

I punch the table angrily, "bullshit! We can do something, anything, but you're just choosing not to. There are people, innocent people who are currently in F.E.A.R's clutches! And you say we do nothing?" I raise my voice.

Andy's nostrils flare, indicating that I'm crossing a boundary, but I'm too wound up to care. "None of you experienced what it's like! You've never been beaten and tortured until you forget your own name. You've never felt pain even when your unconscious, or found yourself edging over insanity due to isolation. You don't get to answer, I say, my voice wobbling and tears filling my eyes.

There expressions soften and Ashley reaches to pull me into a hug, but I flinch away, my eyes wild. "D-don't touch me!" I yell frantically, backing away.

I back against the door, shaking my head, lips trembling as my mental barrier begins to crumble again. My eyes zoom back into Andy, whose cautiously approaching me, "Violet, come down."

I point a shaking finger at him, my entire body shuddering, "y-you don't get to talk to me! Stay back!" I sink to the floor, holding my head in my hands as I rock back and forth, "don't hurt me," I whisper.

I barely notice Jinxx slowly moving towards me, and then blackness.
