Rise From the Ashes

Chapter Three

Andy's POV:

I ran a hand through my black hair, reaching the side that was shaved. The sun was beating down on my back as I watched construction on one of the gates.

In total we had about 54 people who lived in this camp. We called ourselves the Wild Ones and my friends and I led them all. My father had run this camp before me and his father before that.

Five years ago an attack from F.E.A.R. changed I and my friends lives forever.

All of our parents were killed and captured. Then over a live transmission, they were murdered and I will never forget the pain and emptiness of my fathers screams.

That's when we found about her.

My father left behind a note that told of a young girl who was the six of our little group. The Iridescent. Or Violet Frost.

We had to save her and it took us forever to find which prison she was in.

Thankfully we did and I had to be the one to explain the earth shattering news to her. Oh joy.

"Hey, you think it's time?" Ashley asked me, coming to my side. I looked up at the construction again and shook my head.

"I'll let her relax for a bit then I'll go talk to her." I said, rolling my eyes as a group of the girls winked at me. I've probably had sex with all of them but it's never meant anything.

No one has ever meant anything.

Violet's POV:

I took a sip of the water some nurse brought me and leaned back on the pillows of my bed. I had no clue what was going on around here, everyone seemed to have a place to be and something to do except for me.

A knock sounded against the door and I looked up to see The Prophet standing there. "Uh, hi.." He said, swallowing. I didn't say anything as he walked in. He nodded to the tray of food by my bed. "You should eat."

"I'm okay." She said, biting her lip. She watched in distaste as he sat on the edge of her bed.

"I'm sure you didn't each much in the prisons." He shrugged.

"Yeah, well.." I looked away from him but I knew he was still staring. "It must be different when you're The Prophet."

He was silent for a little while and I feared that I had crossed the line. "Yeah. I guess I've been a little more fortunate.." I stared up at him and for the first time noticed how attractive he looked.

"Look, I'm sorry." I said, swallowing.

"Could you do me a favor?" He asked. I nodded. "Call me Andy. Not The Prophet."

"Why?" I asked, furrowing my brow as he stood up. He stopped at the door frame once more.

"It would be nice to hear my real name again."
