Our Family

I walk downstairs and wait by playing with Crow. He's such an old cat, older than me, but he's still as loveable as a kitten. I softly pet his little paws and my mom walks downstairs.

"I told your dad to get changed forty five minutes ago and he's just putting on his suit." She says laughing.

"That's sad." I say and turn my attention to my mom. She's wearing a knee length dark blue dress with black lace and her black pumps. She looks extremely beautiful. "Mom why are you so pretty?"

"The same reason you are, it's in our DNA." She says.

"Why does dad have to take so long at getting ready?"

"I don't know, sometimes it feels like he's the woman in our relationship." We laugh as dad walks down. He's looks so hot in his suit. What the fuck am I saying? He's my dad for God sakes. I need help.

"You girls ready to go?" He asks, we both nod and head to the car. Dad drives us all to an over expensive french restaurant and we sit down at Jake's and Ella's table.

"Sweetie how'd you get that black eye?" Ella asks.

"Mom I think it's best that you tell the story because apparently I never get it right." I say.

"She got into a fight at school." My dad says bluntly.

"Did you at least kick her ass?" Jake asks.

"The principal broke it up before I could throw a punch." I say.

"My little girl would have kicked her ass anyways." Dad says putting an arm around my shoulders.

"I'm guessing Ashley isn't here yet." I say. I actually want my uncle Ash to be here, at least I wouldn't have to choose between talking about clothes or whatever strange things that are going to come out of my dad's and Jake's mouths.

"He said he'd be here in ten minutes." Jake says reassuring me. I sigh and start playing with my utensils.

"El did I tell you Lily has a boyfriend?" My mom asks. Great, let's talk more about me, the one subject I hate.

"Lily tell me all about him!" Ella says excitedly, I sigh and rub my temples. Ashley arrives and my head shoots right up.

"Uncle Ashley I have never been so happy to see you." I say as he takes the empty seat next to me.

"Wow Lils, is your eye okay?" Ash asks as he rubs my cheek with his thumb.

"I'm fine Ash." I say with a smile as I slowly remove his hand from my face.

"Ash where's your date?" My dad asks.

"She bailed last minute, and I just decided to come anyways twenty minutes ago." Ash says.

"Good thing you did or I'd be the seventh wheel." I say and Ash winks at me. You know he always flirts with me, I'm gonna be a total tease.

"Ashley I saw that." Dad says and Ash rolls his eyes.

"So Lily, tell us more about your boyfriend." Jake interjects.

"It's not even a big deal, it's just Jack. Things aren't going to dramatically change between us." I say, these people are making it hard to be a tease.

"So do you think you'll last?" Ash asks.

"I don't know, might not." I say and 'accidentally drop my spoon between Ashley's legs'. "Sorry." I dive to retreat it and I can feel the rage my dad's having right now, it's just a plus. I take a few seconds before grabbing it and run my hand up one of his legs. I sit back up at the table and glance over at my dad's face. I have to look down so no one sees my silent laughing.

"Waiter!" My mom calls over.

We all order and we all dig into our meals. I got a caesar salad because I'm not that hungry, I just want to go home to my warm blankets.

"I think now is the best time to tell you Lily, seeing I'm leaving tonight." My mom starts.

"Where are you going?" I ask.

"I'm going on a UK tour, but I'll only be gone for a month." She says.

"And you only decided to let me know the night your leaving? I feel fucking special." I say.

"Watch your language young lady." She says. Are you kidding me?

"I'm so done." I say as I get up from the table.

I walk to the restroom, but it's locked. I sigh and turn around, accidentally running into my dad. He doesn't see it as an accident and wraps his arms around my small frail body.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you. Your mom said she'd do it, I should've told you when I found out." He says stroking my hair.

"Dad it's not your fault, sometimes and just sometimes mom frustrates me. But hey, that means a month of hanging out with you after school." I say remembering my grounding.

"A month alone with you sounds nice."

"We should probably go back to the table."

"Yeah, and please stop playing around with Ashley's flirting, it's giving me a heart attack."

"Okay daddy."

We walk back to the table and enjoy the rest of the dinner. I barely speak to my mom, and give more attention to my dad seeing I can't flirt with Ashley anymore. After dinner, dad and I drop mom off at the airport and dad drives us home. When we get in the door, I release a loud yon.

"Someone's tired." My dad states. I'm so tired I can barely speak, I just nod making him chuckle. "Do you want me to carry you to your bed?" I nod again and he picks me up bridal style, carrying me up to my room and softly placing me on my bed. He tucks me in under the covers and kneels down next to me.

"What do you want to do tomorrow?" He asks.

"I'm not sure." I say.

"Maybe we could just have a lazy pyjama day like when you were little." He suggests.

"We did that last week."

"Exactly, so what do you say?"

"Ask me in the morning, I'm too tired to be answering questions."

"Okay goodnight babygirl, I love you." He gets up to his feet.

"I love you daddy." I whisper. He leans in and pecks my lips before leaving my room. I wish his lips would have stayed for a longer visit.

I need fucking help.
