Free Bird

"Babe?" Ashley asks coming up behind me
"Yea?" I ask, struggling to catch my breath
"Baby you don't look good, sit down." he panics, "What happened?"
"Just my vision got blurry. The heat in the kitchen was to much I'm fine, just have to deal with it."
I had gotten so used to living with my shitty vision, that when it gets really blurry like that it makes me freak out. I couldn't see anything, and the heat wasn't helping my panic attack.
"I am finishing cooking, you are ordered to sit here and relax." he demands
"No, I got it, it's just spaghetti."
"Exactly, it's just spaghetti, so let me finish cooking it, besides you still have to stuff the pinata with all the pink candy we bought, everyone will be here soon."
I sigh in defeat. He brings me the baby carriage pinata and the candy and I sit and stuff it as full as I can with pink suckers and mints. This is how we are announcing to everyone what we are having.
"Oh babe, the banner for..."
"Already got it, look above the T.V."

"Hey man." CC says when Ashley answers the door
"Where's Neva?" Amelia asks from behind him
I wave at her from my spot on the couch next to Juliet. Andy is on the back porch smoking. She runs over to me and hugs me, Shay following behind and Jake walks in behind CC.
"I'm hungry." I tell Ashley
He laughs, "Well you're the one that said we have to wait for everyone. Jinxx and Alice aren't here yet."
I give him a pout, but quickly smile and start laughing. There is a knock on the door, and when Ashley turns to answer it I use that as my chance to stand up. Juliet helps me and I waddle my pregnant self to the bathroom. When I get back everyone turns to me.
"What? Baby pressing on bladder, excuse me." I laugh and head to the kitchen.
"Where are you going?" Ashley asked
"Fooooooooooood." I say like a zombie
He turns me around and plops me on the couch, and returns with a plate covered in spaghetti.
"Purdy she can get her own plate." Alice says from the dining table
"I want her to relax, she gave me a heart attack this morning."
I groan and roll my eyes, because now everyone is looking at me.
"My vision blurred, and he walked in on me holding the counter and freaked out. I told him it's nothing, but I've been exiled to the couch since eleven thirty."
"I would too," I hear Andy say from the front door, "Nevaeh you have to learn to accept the fact that Ashley and the rest of us haven't forgotten what happened to you. That we will do everything to make sure you are okay, even if that means making you mad and 'exiling' you to the couch, or anywhere else for you to sit. Granted he might go a little too far sometimes, but it's because he loves you, and none of us can imagine life without you."
I look at my best friend and realize he's right, then I look at Ashley and I see he has nothing but concern for me in his eyes.
"I'm sorry. I'll learn to accept help. Now can I eat before my damn food gets cold and we can start this party."

"Okay so who says boy?" Ashley asks
Amelia, Shay, Alice, and Jake raise their hands.
"Who says girl?" I ask
Andy, Juliet, CC, and Jinxx raise their hands
I look at Ashley and he pulls the string on the pinata. The pink candy falls everywhere and everyone claps, the girls squeal.
"Daddy's little princess, batting her eyes at you and getting whatever she wants." CC says clapping Ashley on the back
"He already calls her his princess." I say as I put my hand over my tummy
The girls hug me and everyone gets comfy, but I look at Ashley.
"What are you guys doing? We still have two announcements to make. Name and Godparents."
Everyone looks at the banner.
"The Godparents decision was super hard because we love all of you, and we didn't want to hurt anybody. But eventually we decided. I pull the string on the banner...

"Oh my God! Really? Us?" Andy asks.
Juliet fights tears and she comes to hug me and thank me.
"Yes. You guys have been together longer than everyone here, and honestly Andy if it wasn't for you man, we wouldn't even be here. You became her friend first, you are the reason she's here with us." Ashley says
Everyone congratulates them and we just chill and party until everyone goes home.
"See you in class tomorrow?" Shay asks
I groan. I have been avoiding this class for three weeks, getting the assignments from Shay and turning them in online, but I promised her I would go. I have to face my mother sooner or later.
