Free Bird

"No, it's fine," I say as I pause. I take a deep breath, do I really want to tell him what happened that day? I moved out here to make my past disappear, not relive it, but he's curious..., "you want the truth?"
"You don't have to..."
"Do you?"
He nods, curiosity completely consuming him at this point. I take a deep breath and look at his blue eyes as I tell him about that day, weeks ago, in that dreaded high school bathroom. After he hears what happens, I tell him what the nurse at the hospital told me, and I watch as the tears that began to form while I told the story, spill over the edge of his eyes and down his cheeks.
"Neveah, I am so sorry that..."
"Stop," I cut him off, this is one of the reasons I didn't want people to know, "I don't want to hear 'I'm sorry' from you, you did nothing wrong, you actually helped me. I thought I'd b all alone out here, who would've thought I would meet one of my favorite people my first day out here and actually become friends with him? I don't want pity, I got it for thirteen years of my life, that's enough to last me to my grave. I understand you care, and you're sad I got hurt, and I thank you for caring, but please, don't pity me."
He nods as he stands and joins me in my booth seat. He wraps his arms around me in a friendly embrace, letting me know he cares, and like his song says, I am not alone...

Well, my Spring Break is over and I head back to school and work tomorrow, so updates might be slow, but I will not forget. I promise!
