Free Bird

We didn't get there that night, but I didn't mind. When I get there, I walk into the office to figure out my living situation. The lady behind the desk looks at me wondering why anybody would be walking into her office three weeks into summer.
"Hello, my name is Neveah Tanner, I was told I could move in early" I explain
She looks me over once, and starts clicking away on her computer before pulling up all my information and handing me my schedule along with a map with a highlighted path on how to get to my dorm. Ryan helps me get all settled in, and than refused to take any money.
"No, this move is all on me. Good luck Neveah"

Classes don't start for another two months, and by the looks of it I am the only soul on campus. I decided to look around and figure out where my classes will be and how long I can sleep in if I really feel like it. I end up near the art lab, and I stood there for a while. I finally decided to risk it and take a look inside. When I opened the door I saw a woman with wild red hair and amber green eyes, she was startled when she saw me, "My goodness you scared me half to death, may I help you?"
"I'm sorry, I hadn't realized that anybody was in here. I'm going to be starting school here in a couple months, and I'm hoping that if everything goes according to plan I can get my Bachelors in art in about two years, I just wanted to get a quick look of where I will probably be spending most of my time." I respond in a hurry
"Oh, a fellow art lover. Do you have any of your work with you? I'd love to take a look."
I pull my sketch book out of my backpack and hand it over. As she flips through she comments on every page, "very haunting", "I love your color scheme here, I think it works well with the message", "Oh, I love this one", but my last sketch leaves her speechless. I couldn't figure out why she hadn't made any comment yet, but when I realized what exactly she was looking at I knew why. On the bottom of the page are the words, "'Never Give In, Never Back Down' I will never give in, I will always fight, I... will SURVIVE!" She puts a hand on my shoulder, and what she says next were not the words I was expecting to hear...
"Survive you did, my precious piece of heaven, my daughter"
My jaw hit the floor. Her eyes, her laugh, her smile... mom?
