when the bands gets together
I'm a little skeptical about meeting this girl. I've been looking for a band for a few years but always seem to come up empty. This is the first time I've used craigslist to find a band and this girl seemed promising. F!R3L!llY sounds like a cool name. We're meeting at Starbucks and I've decided to be a little early so I go in grab some coffee and find an empty table.
Hey, it's Matt. I'm a little early. lmk when you get here.
Hey, M I'm here by the window.
I look up and see a girl with her hand in the air waving at no one in particular. she looks a little silly. I start walking over and see she's with another guy. "Hey, Jade right?" "yeah, It's nice to meet you, matt. this is my big brother, Andy. He's just leaving." she says giving the other guy a look. The man stands up and sticks his tongue out at her before he leaves. She giggled. the sweetest sound in the world.
Jade sat at a park bench with her guitar and notebook while she waited for the band. She hummed to herself and stopped to jot down a note. Matt like usual was only slightly less early then herself. Jade smiled and waved energetically. "hey, love. How are you?" "same, shit. you know." he said matter of factly. He sat beside her picking up her notebook in the process. "Hey! that's not finished yet." she complained. Matt stuck his tongue out. "play it." he said pulling his drum sticks out of his back pocket. Dude was like a 4 year old and a blankie when it came to his drum sticks. Jade smirked and started strumming. She sang the words closing her eyes as she did. Matt used the bench to drum. the wood of the seat, the metal arm rests and his legs, it was almost comical but he made it sound good.
A few passerbys stopped to listen to them. Jade stopped suddenly, "That's all I've got so far." and looked up. Jade blushed as the crowd started to clap. Matt laughed at her. Jade stuck her tongue out. Jason and tyler pushed their way through the crowd. "you couldn't wait for us..?" tyler asked, he looked annoyed as he crossed his arms over his chest. Jade and Matt laughed together. Jay and Ty always got mad at them for being early and getting bored. Tyler held out his hand for the guitar. Jade handed over her baby and Tyler started playing what she had just finished adding his own style to it, slightly faster more rhythm. Jason started head banging acting silly. Matt and jade started laughing again as the crowd disappeared.
When the guys stopped Jade took her guitar back and put it and her notebook in her guitar case. "We aren't here to practice. We are here to enjoy a beautiful day." Jade started. They all looked at her like she was crazy. Jade smirked and started to walk away. She brought them to picnic table that was decked out in different lunch items. Fruit salad, pasta salad, and a hero. Also there were an array of drinks, juice, water, beer. Jade pulled a laundry basket out from under the table. It had a frisbee, soccer ball, flags and a football. "Who else is coming, Jade?" Jade shrugged. "I don't know what your talking about." "Well, you have enough food and drinks to feed the entire park so spill..." Tyler demanded. Jade smiled and waved to a group of people who were coming up behind tyler. Jade ran to greet the tall one and jumped into his arms.
Andy lifted Jade and spun with her. He was excited to fully meet her band for the first time. He let her down as she greeted everyone. Ash was still being short with him. today would hopefully break the chains. May bounded up to Jade stepping between her and Ash and hugged her best friend. CC and Jinxx had already reached the table. CC was stuffing his face as Jinxx scolded him and told him to save some for the rest. Jade took May's hand and brought her over to the guys. "Matt, Jason, tyler. This is May my best friend, Andy my big brother and his band; Ash, CC, Jake and Jinxx." she introduced. Matt smiled at Andy and held out his hand. "We've met once before. Nice to see you again, man" he said as andy took his hand and smiling in return.
After eating Jade decided it was time for some fun. The BVB boys were a little tipsy as well as may and tyler. Matt isnt a huge drinker and Jade needed to be the DD if it got to that point, as for Jason he seemed to shy away from everyone. Jade wasn't sure why.
Picking teams...
Andy and Jade were voted to pick the teams. They decided on an old fashioned way of picking the teams. Jade went first and chose May. Andy chose Matt who gave Jade a pouty face. Jade then decided CC would be fun. CC ran over and tackled the two girls to the ground making everyone laugh. Andy chose Jinxx, Jade picked Tyler who dragged his feet. Andy then gave Jade a helpless look before picking Ash. Jade picked Jason which left Jake for Andy's team.
Andy, Matt, Jinxx, Ash and Jake VS Jade, May, CC, Tyler and Jason
They all agreed on flag football. Each team had a 10 min huddle before they started the game. Andy and Jade synced their timers on their phones. Each team huddled and began to form a strategy.
Jade looked over her motley crew "Hmm, May and CC defense.. i think. Tyler I want you to start and Jason you're gonna try to get as far as you can with the ball and I'm going to run head long into the goal. Jason throw to me and easy win." she said. May chuckled. "It does sound easy but we need a back up. what if Andy's team gets the ball and we deflect the goal or obtain it somehow...?" she trailed off. Jade gave it some thought before answering. " either you or CC whichever gets the ball. Fake to either Jay or Ty whichever is closer. then whoever was faked is gonna run fast toward our goal and then you can pass the the other of the two who can pass to me." "So a decoy? smarty pants." the timer went off and they all smiled and cheered before meeting the other team who seemed to be fighting. Jade sighed. "Ten minutes are up guys. Lets go." Andy straightened and walked to Jade. He looked worn, Matt looked annoyed, Ash was pissed, Jake amused and Jinxx looked like himself completely closed.
The game started. Jade's team started... the used their original plan but everyone was a little scattered so Ash got the ball from jason who wasn't near anyone he could pass to. Ash ran headlong toward may. May charged and grabbed his flag. Ash dropped the ball looking annoyed. May took the ball and smiled at him for the first time that day. Ash was a little stunned giving may plenty of time to fake it to Ty who ran and quickly passed to Jason who was not far from Ty. Matt caught the move and went running toward Jade anticipating the next move. Jade tried to get herself open as CC came running toward her flailing his arms. Mat was confused but didnt budge. Jason passed to CC who jumped and using matts shoulder propelled himself upward handing the ball to Jade who turned and skipped into the goal. Matt huffed and laughed at Jade who began dancing.
Ash started yelling at Andy who was watching Jade. His eyes bright with pride. He glared at Ash who continued his rant. "You fucking airhead. You're so full of it. for ten whole minutes when we could have been planning on how to kick their asses you had to zone out letting matt take over who doesnt know any of our strengths." He went to continue but May jumped in. "Stop! Just stop. We get it okay. you're mad but you dont have to constantly remind us all of that obvious fact. If I have to apologise one more time I'm done. I'm sure Andy's fucking done with this bull shit also. So cut the fucking crap." she screamed inches from his face. Ash looked stunned for the second time that day. "Now if you don't mind I'm going to hang with my best friend and until you lose the attitude I will have fun without you." May snapped before walking away. Andy sighed and followed. The two of them went straight to Jade who hugged them both.
"tomorrow. lets forget this for now and have some fun. Kay?" Jade suggested. they agreed. The entire group except Ash who was still standing in the same spot went back to the table. Andy Jade and Matt sat ontop of the table looking out onto the field. Jade took out her guitar and started strumming a few cords that kind of highlighted the day. It began sweet and light. Andy on the spot came up with words and started singing along and matt tapped away in his lap and on the table not bothering to take out his drum sticks this time. As the song progressed it got bitter sweet and Tyler joined in screaming a Andy's chorus. The song picked up a bit adding to the angry sound and then went back to the original chorus. They repeated the bitter sweet chorus one last time slowing it down as they did ending on a soft note. Andy hugged Jade then. "Thanks, Little B I needed that." he said and kissed her forehead. Just as his phone rang....
