Beauty and the Beast

Andy lay on the floor, gasping for air, bleeding out. I held onto his side as hard as I could to stop the blood. I was home alone, it was our day alone. What have I done? I was warned, and now what? Andy was slowly fading from me. He raised a bloody hand to my face and caressed my cheek. Tears streamed down my face, I was gasping for air as much as he was.

“It wasn’t your fault.” He whispered, barley inaudible.

I began chocking harder, feeling his breathing slow, and then stop… His hand fell from my face. I screamed, pulling his limp body closer to mine. I cried onto him, blood finding its way to all the cracks in the floor. My heart was crushed, there was nothing left of me.

They found me two hours later, brushing Andy’s hair behind his ear while his lifeless body laid on my lap. I protected his body against the others like a mother would to her newborn baby. The tears were still flowing, making my eyes raw. I wanted to go back, to listen to my mother. To run from the man I loved the most to keep him safe. To tell him that I no longer loved him, but that would break him, he would never get over that pain like I will never get over this pain.

The love of my life is gone. There’s nothing left for me. They had finally taken Andy away from me. I sat on the foyer floor, remembering every moment we had together. I looked into the kitchen and stood, my legs barely able to handle the weight of my pain. I lifted a small knife out of the drawer. Twirling it in my hands. My face held nothing but pain and loss. I broke the skin on my forearm and slide it downwards, feeling no pain from that. I proceeded with the next arm as blood gushed from my wrists.

“Forever and always.” I whispered.
