Can you ever forgive me?

My whole life was a lie

Cassidy's POV
I went downstairs after having talking with Andy. "Mom." I said, looking in the kitchen. She was sitting there with 2 beer bottles next to her. She took another drink from one and looked at me.

"What do you want?" She said, slurring her words.

"I-I'm moving into my own apartment." I said. First she sat there quietly. I couldn't tell if it was because she didn't know what to say, or if she was too drunk to comprehend what I was saying.

"Why?"

"I have enough money and you always say how you want me out of the house." She picked up the beer bottle and made an attempt to throw it at me. It flew 2 feet in front of me. I the shards of glass went flying and I covered my eyes.

"How would your father feel if you did this? He loved you and wanted you around forever. He didn't want to let you go... And neither do I." She sniffled and rubbed her eyes from the tears. She came closer and wrapped me in a hug. As soon as her arms were around me, she slammed me into the wall repeatedly. Then she threw me onto the glass and kicked me in the legs. "But he's not here! BECAUSE OF YOU!" She screamed. I started to cry while protecting myself. "If he wanted you to stay here, then you're staying here. It was one of his wishes." She stopped kicking me and went to the fridge.

"You're wrong." I said, standing up slowly. My leg was bleeding from the glass and the kicks. "He only wanted me here so he could-"

"SHUT UP, CASSIDY!" She yelled. "I don't want to hear anymore of your bull shit. That is no excuse for what you did." She shook her head and went towards the microwave. Then she turned around with one of the butcher knives in her hand.

"Mo-mom. Stop." I said with my hands up. She took a step closer and I took a step back.
"I have been living in grief for the past 5 years. What about you?" She asked. I was going to die anyways, so I told her the truth.

"I've been handling it fine." I said with a smug smile. That ticked her off. She came closer and closer. "Mom! I'm sorry. It was 5 years ago! You need to let go. You need to forgive me like all mothers would."
Fire burned in her eyes. "Well, I'm not your mother. You were adopted." The words stung me harder than the knife would of. I choked on my next words.

"You don't mean that." I said shaking. "You're drunk."
"Really? I have red hair your 'father' had blonde hair. You dye your hair from brown to blonde every year. We both have blue eyes. What do you have?" My eyes were a light brown, almost green color. I did dye my hair. "Your 'father' and I are both short-"

"And I'm tall." I said understanding. "My whole life was a lie. I thought you guys really loved me." I cried, choking back my tears. All the birthday presents I gave them, the Christmas presents, school projects.

"We were forced to look after you. I should of killed you a long time ago." She said, her eyes full of hope. "I got calls from your school when you were in 11th grade. They were about you bullying other kids."

"It was because of you. You hurt me, forced me to take my anger on someone else. But I've changed." I said in my defense. I looked her in the eyes and saw everything. She meant everything she ever said.

"Sweetheart, people don't change. Seasons do." Then she lunged out at me, knife pointed at me. I quickly dodged it and she landed in the bookshelf. I ran upstairs, limping the whole way, to my room and locked the door. The slid my desk in front of it, along with other chairs and heavy stuff. I heard her grumbling down stairs. I quickly went to my closet and grabbed 2 duffle bags. I filled them with clothes, little makeup, and other tiny necessary items.
"LET ME IN YOU LITTLE BITCH!" She was clawing at the door, hitting it over and over again. God, was she drunk. Lastly, I grabbed my secret stash of money from under my bed. I wiped the tears and sweat off of my face. "OPEN UP!" She banged on the door again. It wouldn't hold for long. I opened the window and got onto the sill.
"Fuck You 'mom'. I'm glad I'm leaving this nightmare." I jumped from the window and onto the tree. I ran far away from my 'house'. I collapsed at the smoothie shop and sat at the curb, crying. My leg hurt so bad. Then a hand went on my shoulder and I turned around to see the last person I wanted to see.

Jessica's POV
I was sitting under a giant oak tree at the park across from the smoothie shop. Then a girl came running past me, carrying 2 giant bags. She just fell at the edge of the curb and she started crying. Everybody was watching her. I went closer to her and noticed that it was Cassidy. Yes, she bullied me when we were younger and a couple of weeks ago. But that doesn't mean I should be mean to her. Andy taught me that. Sometimes everybody needs a shoulder to cry on. I walked up to her and out my hand in her shoulder, prepared to talk.
"Cassidy, are you ok?" I asked. She looked up and wiped off her face. I looked down at her leg and saw blood oozing out. "Let me see your leg." She jerked it away and started shaking. I demanded to see it and there were tiny pieces of glass inside. "We need to get you to a hospital." I said.

"Jessica, why do you want to talk to a bitch like me?" She asked.

" Sometimes even the people that seem the strongest need a shoulder to cry on. " I replied with a smile. I sat down next to her and gave her a hug. "Now lets go."

"I was so mean to you. Why are you so nice to me now?" She asked.

"You've changed. You stopped being mean to me, so it's my turn to be nice to you." She smiled. "What happened?" I asked.

"Everything went wrong." She muttered. "You wouldn't understand.

"Believe me, Cassidy. I know how you feel. Especially after your dad..." She shook her head and stood up.
"He wasn't my father. He was a lying bastard. They adopted me. My whole life was a lie." She started to sob and I gave her a hug.
"I'm so sorry. Everything will be ok."
"Thank you Jessica. For being here when I needed to cry on someone, after everything that happened."

"Don't worry about the past. It's over. We live in the present now. Now lets go." I pulled her up and carried her bags.

"To where?"

"The hospital. Your leg..." She looked confused, like her memory was slipping away from her. And then she feel to ground. "Cassidy?" I bent down and put my ear to her lips. "Someone call 911!" I shouted.
