If Heaven were on Earth

Nikki's POV:

I couldn't fall asleep that night. No matter how many times I tossed and turned, nothing seemed to help, leaving me staring at the annoying blinking digital numbers on my alarm clock.

The events that had transpired that day happened quickly, and confused my injured head. Apparently, I had dreamed up almost everything that had happened, except the events taking place earlier that day. And now, my head throbbed and the stupid medication the doctor had given me had failed to work.

My room was dark, a soft breeze blowing through the open window opposite my bed. The nurse had told me that fresh air would help with my headache and clear my thoughts, but so far, no such luck. The only thing it did remind me of was that vampires could potentially exist, and one could just fly through my open window, and either devour or ravish me on the spot, depending on which version of the undead you believe in: Twilight or Dracula.

I gazed up at the night sky through my window, catching the faintest glimmer of moonlight as it cast down upon my wired form. I hated being alone, especially at night; ay night my parents chose to abandon me and give in to their drunken desires. Maybe it was better being without them, but I was still alone nonetheless.

My face lit up as I saw an all-too familiar car pull up in front of my house, followed by a dark-haired teen climbing out and glancing up to my bedroom window. And then he was here, clambering through the open pane and I was in his arms. Andy pulled me to his chest, running his hands through my hair and kissing the top of my head affectionately, holding me close against his strong hold.

"What're you doing here?" I asked against his chest, and he puled away enough so he could tilt my chin up so he could gaze dreamily into my eyes. "I missed you," he answered, cupping my cheek.

I grinned and pulled him down for a quick kiss, feeling at home in his arms.
