Stitch These Wounds With Me Tonight

[Jessa's POV]

It's been a few days since Jake was shot and I was going crazy not being able to check in with him. I tried relentlessly to focus on work,reading a book, organizing my office, anything. Nothing helped. I felt lost. I plopped down on the couch and laid my head on Jeremy's lap.

He ran his fingers through my hair making me sigh.

He leaned down and kissed my temple. "Babe, he'll be home before you know it. Try to relax, Jake is in great hands. His nurse has kept in touch and he'll be coming home in a few days."

I rubbed my hands over my eyes, "I can't relax. I keepworrying about the little things that could go wrong."

He grabbed my hands and pulled me up off the couch. "Come on, let's try to keep your mind off of things."

He took me to the kitchen. "Teach me to make something. Anything."

"Um, okay..." I hesitated and turned to the cupboards and started pulling ingredients out.

[Jake's POV]

I closed my eyes and drew a breath. "Thank you for keeping me company on your days off Billie. I've really liked getting to know you, and I have to say, I really like you. Would you like to go out sometime after all this is done?"

I rehearsed what I was going to say over and over before Billie came back with real food. I really hope I don't blow it.

"Where do you have in mind?"

My eyes sprang open. "What? You heard all that?"

The smile she gave me was amazing. It made her eyes sparkle in this dull hospital lighting.

"Yes, and to be honest, I really like you too. I was trying to think of what to say the entire way up here. I was going to tell you pretty close to the same thing."

"I was thinking of something low key."

"So dinner, tattoos, and gun range?" She laughed and it sounded like bells.

"You're making it really hard not to fall for you."

[Jinxx's POV]

Slowly but surely Jess walked me through making muffins. The kitchen smelled absolutely fantastic. I peeked in the oven to check them quickly. "These look amazing babe, you did a good job."

"I just told you what to do, you did it all." Jess said trying to look happy.

"We make a good team, we should get married."

"Sorry Jeremy. I'm already engaged to someone. He's a hot shot rock god, that knows exactly how to treat me." She grinned.

"Does he sweep you off your feet?"

"Mmm... even better. He cleans up the messy kitchen while I go get a shower."

"That sounds like a good way to relax."

"It helps."

She started to walk out of the kitchen and I couldn't help but watch her hips sway.

"Would it help if he washed your hair for you?"

She stopped and turned slightly so I could hear her and whispered, "I love when he does that. Hopefully he will when he's done in the kitchen."

I pulled the muffins out of the oven and quickly tossed the rest of the dishes into the sink before racing up to our room.

"SHUT THE DAMN DOOR ALL THE WAY THIS TIME! I DON'T WANT TO HEAR OR ACCIDENTALLY SEE ANYTHING IF I WALK BY!" Riley shouted from the living room.

"No promises Riles!" I laughed taking the stairs two at a time.

Sorry it's a short chapter, I'm working while my little girl is sleeping. I'm trying to get back into this now that she's getting into a little routine. Life has changed sooooo much since she got here. I adore her to no end, but my time for anything other than her is nearly nonexistent. I'm working on this whenever I can.
