Two Years Later
I stand in front of the mirror, admiring my beautiful dress and my golden blonde locks. Alexis and my mom are fixing my veil and perfecting my makeup. I listen as the soft church bell rings. I tell my mom to leave the room for a moment so I can speak to Alexis in private.
"Who would have thought Andy and I would last?" I ask.
"I kind of did, it just the way that you two look at each other. I wish things would have lasted between me and Ash, but I'm with your brother now so no regrets." She says.
"Are you sure there's no regrets?" I ask.
"Okay so sometimes Ricky can be a bit of a handful, but I love him."
"Good because if I had to pick a sister, it'd probably be you." She gives me a hug. "Can you send my mom in?" She nods and leaves the room. My mom enters and smiles at me.
"I'm so glad you're my daughter, you've turned out to be a beautiful woman." She says.
"I love you mom. And the only reason I'm like this is because of you, so good work." I say.
"I love you too honey, the wedding's going to begin soon."
"I know, can you send in Jake?" She nods and leaves. Jake enters and gives me a hug.
"Andy is a lucky man." He says.
"But you're an even luckier one. You've got Ella and baby Jessie." I say.
"And today you'll get Andy, and one day you'll have a baby Jessie of your own."
"Yeah one day, I'm just so scared yet excited to go out there."
"I know, it's just the nerves. You'll be fine, just keep your head up high and smile wide."
"Thanks Jake, can you send in James?"
"Yeah and don't forget what I said."
"I won't." He leaves the room and James walks in, head down.
"What's wrong?" I ask.
"After today, you'll be a wife." He says.
"Yeah and what's so wrong about that?" I ask.
"You don't understand, you've never understood." He says and looks up at me.
"Then explain."
"Funny, you've always wanted to be Juliet Capulet and now you are. But soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun."
"James what are you saying?"
"Except not through my perspective. You are the Rosaline to my Romeo, I'd rather you a Juliet."
"So we can die?"
"No you're still not getting it."
"Then explain or forever hold your peace!"
"I don't want you to be my Rosaline! I don't want to mop over the fact that I can't have you! I love you! I have since the moment we met! I never wanted to get close to you because I'm a rehabilitated drug addict, and you are too innocent. I didn't want you getting hurt if I ever went back to doing cocaine again. You are a white dove among crows, you an angel sent from the gods, I never want to put you in danger. But this is my last shot, this is my only chance to win your heart, and I want you no matter what the cost may be."
"James I'm flattered but-"
"Please let me finish." I nod and he continues. "I know how you feel about Andy, you love him, I understand. I'm just hoping your love for me tromps your love for him. I do love you and will love you for whatever decision you make. I just hope you'll choose me. I've done so much just to see you standing here in that dress. You look so beautiful, though even without all the makeup and the dress, you are still the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. I know I'm making this awkward for you, but I really hope you'll pick me. If you want me, I'll wait on the steps of the entrance of the church. But if not, I won't ever see you again."
"What do you mean I won't see you again?" I ask, a tear running down my cheek. He wipes the tear away with his thumb and gives me a kind smile.
"I can't stay and watch you be with him. I've watched for too long and can't bare it any longer. I got this job opportunity in Toronto to be an actor in a TV series. I already said yes so there's no turning back. If you come with me, I can give you the world."
"But I don't want to lose my best friend."
"The choice is all yours." He kisses me and walks out of the room.
I break down crying, unsure of what to do. I don't want to lose James, he's been by my side through all the bad times, he's helped me when no one else has, I don't know what I'll do if he's not with me. But I love Andy, I'm in love with Andy. He's able to make me feel like I'm flying when no one else can. I can't live without him. What the fuck am I supposed to do? The door creaks open and Andy steps in.
"Why are you crying? We're getting married today." He asks grabbing a tissue. He wipes away my smeared makeup and tilts my head up.
"You're not supposed to see the bride before the wedding, it's bad luck." I say taking a seat.
"Screw luck, I don't need it. What's going on?" He asks sitting next to me.
"It'll upset you."
"Seeing you like this upsets me."
"James loves me and wants me to run away with him to Toronto."
"Wow, you're right that does upset me."
"I love him, but I'm in love with you. But I don't want to lose my best friend." He kisses me.
"You already know I love you to the end of the world and back, and I'm not going to be the one who gets in the way of your happiness. Whatever you choose, I'll love you." He walks out of the room. My decision is as clear as day. I exit the room.

So it's the end and I'm bawling my eyes out. I'm such a baby, but it's all over now. If you have any questions about the book, I will answer each and everyone of them.
