My Reality

"Why are we in a bridal boutique?" I ask Alexis.

"Because we are going to find you the perfect dress for spring formal. You are going right?" She asks.

"Well I wanted to a week ago but lately not so much." I say.

"Well you're going now and you're going to have a great time. And if you don't have a great time, find me and we'll go back to my house and watch some movies or something. Now let's get you some dresses to try on."

She hands me a few bridesmaids' dresses and I go into the change room to try them on. Some of them are too small, some of the colours don't look nice on me, others are just very uncomfortable.

"None of these look good on me." I say handing her the dresses.

"Well there's this one dress you might want to try on before we leave." She says.

"Okay go grab it." She runs over to a rack of dresses and picks out a beautiful wedding dress. "You want me to try that on?"

"Yeah."

She hands me the dress. I go back in the change room and put on the dress. I look into the mirror and smile. I don't look like that fearful teenager anymore, I look like a princess.

"Let me see it on you!" She requests. I walk out and she looks stunned, but then I see her eyes wonder. "What's on your arm?" I hide my arms behind the dress.

"It's nothing." I say. She grabs my arm and looks at my scars.

"Those are really deep." She comments. "I know how to hide these." She runs off and comes back with gloves. "These are white lace gauntlets, also known as your saviour from everyone finding out you cut."

"Thanks Alexis." I say.

"You're my friend, I'm going to look after you."

"But what about Katie and Taylor?"

"They're stuck up bitches, I'd rather have a real friend like you than those cunts."

"I'd love to buy this dress, but I don't have the money. Wait a sec..." I take out my phone and call Blake.

"Hello?" He asks.

"Blake it's Scarlet, can I barrow money for a dress? I promise I'll pay you back." I ask.

"You don't have to pay me back, I'll give the money to your mother to give you." He says.

"Thank you so much." I say.

"As long as it'll make you happy." He says and I hang up, and I text my mom.

"Aren't you going to get a dress?" I ask.

"Matters whether Ashley's going to grow a pair and ask me to go." Alexis says.

"I think I can persuade him to." I say.

"Really you don't have to." She says.

"Friends are supposed to look after each other. We are both going to dance the night away with our men and have a great time."

"Okay I'm going to try on that black one."

She grabs the dress and runs into the dressing room. My mom arrives and gives me the money. I thank her and she tells me to be home by ten before she leaves. Alexis walks out and she looks stunning in the black wedding dress.

"So what do you think?" She asks.

"Beautiful, just beautiful." I say.

We buy the dresses, they didn't cost that much because the place is a second hand shop, and we go to the mall. Alexis decides not to go see her friend and we go into a costume shop.

"We need masks, it is a masquerade ball." She says and we go to the back of the shop to look at the accessories. We found the perfect masks for our dresses and grab a bite at the food court.

"Ooh! Maybe we should see a movie tonight." She suggests. We both buy a slice of pizza and sit at a table.

"Well it matters which one." I say.

"50 Shades Of Grey?" She asks.

"Isn't that like porn for girls?" I ask.

"Yes but in a BDSM form."

"Any other movie?"

"The Kingsmen?"

"What is it about?"

"No idea."

"So why should we go and see it?"

"I don't know, what do you want to do?" She asks.

"We could dye my hair." I suggests.

"Yes! Okay I'm think light purple." She says.

"Won't that attract a lot of attention?"

"Well yes, but you're going to look really pretty."

"Okay let's do it."

By ten o'clock my hair is light purple, I have an outfit for the spring formal, and I have the mission on getting Ash to ask Alexis to the dance. It's been a long day, I'm just happy Alexis made me forget about Sam for awhile.
