Shadow Children

Fights and Vic

Later that evening…
Jay’s POV: I laid down on my bed thinking about how much fun the day was. I wasn’t expecting anyone to come into my room, so I was in shorts and a tank top. But CC walked in. “JAY!” He yelled jumping on top of me. I giggled. I saw him looking down and I realized that he could see my arm. I jumped off my bed and ran over to the closet and I pulled a sweatshirt over my head and sweat pants over my legs.
“Jay… I thought you promised…” He whispered.
“I tried I really did…” Tears formed at the corners of my eyes. CC started looking angry, I didn’t know why… Normally he is so sweet. He is the “We’ll get through this together” type of guy, but I guess I was wrong because right then he started to yell at me.
“That isn’t trying! Trying is when you have one or two… That is not even caring about what we all feel! How could you do this? Seriously Jay!”
“I’m sorry that I’m not fucking perfect or little Miss FUCKING sunshine!” I yelled tears streaming down my face. All that I could remember from that point on was running. I had no clue where I was going but I ran as far as I could from that house. And then I fell underneath a tree. I crawled over to the trunk and leaned up against it. My mind was a blur.
Just do it, you know it makes you feel better. It helps you think clearer… My hand reached into my pocket, and as if it was habit I pulled out my phone, slid off the case, and took the blade into my hand. Once… Twice… Five times…
“Jay is that you?” I heard a familiar voice say from across the street. He came closer and through my blurry vision I saw Vic.
“Vic…” I croaked. “Don’t worry, I’ll get you cleaned up.” He said picking me up bridal style and carrying me into his house. He sat me down on the kitchen counter.
“This may sting a little bit…” He said taking a soaked in burning hot water cloth to my arm. I flinched.
“Vic, who you talking to?” I heard Mike call.
“It’s Jay!”
“How does she know where we live?”
“She doesn’t… I found her…” Vic said once more. Mike ran into the kitchen with a box of band-aids.
“How did he…?” I started to ask.
“Care to give us the full story?” Vic asked. I started from NYC when Kellin helped me.
“No, the full story…” Vic said again. I nodded and gave them full disclosure. When I was done they just pulled me into a very comforting hug.
“You’re welcome to stay here for a few days…” Mike offered.
“Thanks…” I smiled.

Jake’s POV:
“Hey guy’s where’s Jay?” I asked walking into the kitchen.
“Where’s CC? Seriously… If we get another call from the police that he peed on a playground at the elementary school again I’m not bailing him out…”
“How many times has that happened?” Niki asked.
“Enough to make him a registered sex offender in the L.A. region.” Ashley answered. My phone started ringing and I saw it was CC.
“DUDE! Where have you been?” I yelled.
“It’s Jay! She ran away… We got into a huge fight and now I can’t find her!” I heard through muffled tears. My eyes grew wide.
“Don’t worry, we’ll find her I promise!” I yelled and then hung up.
“CC can’t find Jay!” I yelled to everyone. Jagger did a priceless spit take.
“I’ll go drive around…” Ashley said running out of the room.
“I’ll call 911…” Blade said panicking.
“Jagger and I will call the bands!” Niki yelled. The only words running through my head were, “We’ll find her, I promise…”

Blade’s POV:
I ran into my room and grabbed my phone. 9…1…1… I slowly pressed.
“911 please state your emergency.”
“It’s my sister…” I struggled getting out of my mouth.
“Sir please state the problem.”
“No-one can find her, she ran away…”
“When was the last time you saw her?”
“Three hours ago…”
“Is she in any danger? Has some one tried to abduct her?”
“Yes she’s in danger.”
“How?”
I stood there for a moment trying to formulate how I should respond.
“Sir? Are you still there?”
“Yes, I’m still here…”
“How is your sister in danger?”
“She’s been on suicide watch…” Tears slipped from my eyes as I remember the first time she was in a hospital with bandages on her arms. We never said anything that day. I wished I did, but what could I say?
“Sir? Hello? Can you tell me your current address?”
“470 North Sunset…”
“Okay. A police car has been sent on it’s way.”

Jay’s POV:
I sat with Mike listening to Vic record a demo of a new song that he wrote in the past thirty minutes. He said it’s for his new album.
“If you want I can set the TV up…” Mike said. I nodded. I hadn’t said much since I told my story. I turned on Spiderman and lowered the volume still wanting to hear Vic sing.
“Your just wasting and thinking ‘bout the past again… Darling you’ll be okay…” I heard the recording. I ran into the bathroom and started crying. Soon enough there was a knock on the door.
“Jay? Can you open the door for me?” Vic asked softly. I reached up and turned the knob. “Shh… It’ll be ok.” He said sitting down next to me and cradling me in his arms
“Vic!” Mike called.
“Yeah?” He called back.
“The news… I think you need to call Andy now…” Vic helped me up and brought me into the den where I was watching TV. The news was broadcasting me… as a missing person’s report.
“That doesn’t make sense, she’s only been gone for a half a day…” Vic whispered. I knew why it was so quick; my brother told them that I’ve been on suicide watch before.

Vic’s POV:
I found Jay outside by a tree trunk and I saw red dripping from her wrists.
“Jay is that you?” I asked just making sure.
“Vic…” She struggled getting out and when she did it sounded like she smoked ten packs a day.
“Don’t worry, I’ll get you cleaned up.” I picked her up and carried her back to the house, “This may sting a little bit…” I said taking a soaked hot water cloth to her arm.
“Vic, who you talking to?” Mike called.
“It’s Jay!” I called back.
“How does she know where we live?”
“She doesn’t… I found her…” I answered. Mike ran into the kitchen with a box of band-aids.
“How did he…?” Jay started to ask.
“Care to give us the full story?” I asked. She told us what happened in NYC when Kellin helped her, but I already knew that because Kellin told me. I knew that there was more, “No, the full story…” I said again. When she was done we pulled her into a big hug.
“You’re welcome to stay here for a few days…” Mike offered.
“Thanks…” She answered. Since that moment I had this idea for a song. A song for Jay, a song for all of the people out there going through the same kind of pain, and in half an hour we were already recording. Mike set up camp for Jay in front of the TV. When he came back we started recording the bridge, and I heard a door slam.
“Mike, stop recording!” I yelled and ran out of the booth. I found the bathroom door in the kitchen locked and the light on. I knocked on the door.
“Jay? Can you open the door for me?” I asked softly. She turned the knob and opened the door. I saw her sitting on the floor, “Shh… It’ll be ok.” I said sitting down next to her.
“Vic!” Mike called.
“Yeah?” I called back.
“The news… I think you need to call Andy now…” I helped Jay up and brought her into the den. The news was playing a picture of Jay. She was a missing person…
“That doesn’t make sense, she’s only been gone for a half a day…” I whispered. I ran upstairs and grabbed my cell phone. I dialed Andy’s number from memory.
“Vic what’s up?” I heard the strain in his voice.
“I found Jay out side, she’s at our house.”
“Is she okay?” He asked slightly relived.
“Yeah she had some cuts on her, but we cleaned her up.”
“She relapsed?” He asked.
“Yeah… but I don’t think she wants to be found as of right now, she and CC had some fight earlier.”
“I heard, but what do we tell Blade? Or CC? Or the Police?”
“Just tell them all that you found her but she wants to be left alone for a few days.”
“Got it. Text me what she needs and I’ll drop it off.”
“Okay, I’ll go ask her.” I answered and then went to ask Jay what she needed.
“If you’re staying here until Friday make a list of what you need and text it from my phone to Andy, okay?” She nodded and I hugged her.
“Do you want to do something really cool?” I asked. She nodded again.
“Would you mind singing part of the song I was working on before on the album?” I asked. Her eyes lightened up.
“Could I really?” She got all giddy and excited. I showed her the studio after she texted Andy. She started the first take with Mike when I heard the doorbell ring.
“Dude, how the fuck do I keep getting your mail? Seriously, you’re the Mexican and I’m not! Like just have people send you their shit directly, and not to me first! Like really? I’m Kellin Quinn and people sometimes think my singing makes me sound like a girl and you’re Vic Fuentes and you just are the Mexican… Can we go to Taco Bell?” Was all I heard when I opened the door. Not even a hello or anything, nope nada… nadie, He wasn’t even looking at me until he asked if we could get Taco Bell.
“Kellin, calm down. You live at 21 I live at 12, I get your mail too. And I know I’m a Mexican thanks for pointing out the obvious-“ He cut me off.
“Sh! I hear singing… What girl do you have in your house Victur? If it’s Copeland I swear you will have no head!”
“KELLIN! Copeland can barely talk let alone sing, and no it’s not her.”
“Well then I demand to know who it is!” He yelled running into the recording studio, “Jay…” he gasped.
“I already called Andy, so don’t call anyone else. She doesn’t want to be found right now.”
“She has such a pretty voice, can we keep her?” He asked me.
“Dude, she’s not a puppy!” I told him.
“But… but… FINE! I’m just going to steal her for our next album!” As soon as we raised our voices she looked up.
“Kellin…” She looked scared. I noticed how her hands were shaking. She was having a panic attack. All of us ran into the booth trying to get her to calm down.

@Bree Barham
Just got caught up and I understand having to end a story. However, I am going to give you the best writing advice that my mom ever gave me.
"Don't write for others; write for you."

I look forward to seeing how things tie up.

@Raven_Marie_Black
