No One Does It Better

I started to exercise so I could lose all the baby fat, because it wasn't going to go away on its own. It took months for all of it to go away, and when I noticed it was gone, I was so excited.

"Ashley! It's all gone!" I exclaimed, exiting the bathroom with a wide smile. He grinned at me.

"That's great, honey. Can we start planning our wedding?" He asked. I smiled and approached him, placing my hands on his chest.

"We can finish planning it, if that's what you mean," I said gently, placing a kiss on his lips. I walked away to the baby's room, all three of them soundly sleeping in their cribs.

My phone rang from the kitchen, and I rushed out to answer it.

"Hey," I said.

"Hey Audrey. Are you busy today?" Juliet asked me.

"I'm not sure. Why?" I asked.

"Just wondering. Can you and Ashley stop by Andy's today at like... five-ish?" She asked. I furrowed my eyebrows together.

"Sure," I said.

"Okay, cool. See you then," she said. She hung up, and I hummed in confusion. Weird.

"Apparently we're going to Andy's at five-ish," I told Ashley. He looked up from his spot on the couch as I walked into the living room, setting his coffee down on the table in front of him.

"Oh. Alright," he said, "so what do you want for your birthday? I know that's coming up soon," Ashley said.

"You don't need to get me anything, Ash. I'm only turning twenty," I said. Ashley hummed.

"Okay, so nothing too fancy. I can work with that," he said, winking at me before taking a sip of his coffee. I sat down next to him on the couch, leaning against him.

"Can you go to the store and get me some tampons?" I asked, remembering I didn't have any left, and that I was do for my period sometime soon. Ashley looked down at me and smiled, kissing me softly.

"Of course. What kind...?" He asked, standing up and stretching.

"Just regular," I said. He nodded and left to go get his wallet and keys. He left minutes later, accidentally slamming the door behind him as he went. I heard crying soon after, and I stood up to retrieve whichever baby was crying.

They were all up and running around as fast as their little legs could carry them soon enough. I made sure to keep my eyes on them, making sure they didn't hurt themselves or the others. I watched with a smile on my face, thinking about how lucky I was.

"Honey, I'm home!" Ashley yelled a while later, and I smiled as he stepped into the living room with a WalMart bag in his hand. I stood up and took the bag from him, kissing his cheek as I did so. I took the box out of the bag, and I put it in the bathroom before discarding the bag in the pantry with all the other plastic bags. Plastic-bag-ception.

At four-thirty, Ash and I left the house with the kids in the backseat. I didn't know what Andy wanted, but apparently it was important. For some reason.

We pupulled up in the gutter in about fifteen minutes, and Ashley and I got out of the car. We both went to each side of the car, and I unbuckled Matthew while Ashley got Anne Marie and Noah. I grabbed one high chair, knowing that this was a two trip process, because it always was, and I headed up to the house, knocking on the door and finding it unlocked. I looked at Ashley and pushed the door open with a shrug. I stepped over the threshold with Ashley behind me.

"SURPRISE!" I jumped slightly with a small shriek, dropping the high chair I was holding to place it on Matthew's back.

"God. You guys," I said, and they all laughed at me.

"That's for both of you, you January babies," Andy said as he approached.

"Well, I didn't expect a surprise party!" I said. Ashley chuckled from behind me.

"Audrey," I heard. Hunter say, and I spotted him standing next to someone who looked vaguely familiar.

"Hi," I said to him, hoping he wouldn't say something that would go against something in my life.

"I wanted to say sorry... and that I found out that dad wasn't actually dead. He was in a coma for a while, but he was fine after he woke up, and I wanted to let you see him," Hunter said.

"That sounds extremely made up," I said, though I was hoping it was true. Hunter shook his head, and he shoved someone forward. I looked up as he walked over to me, and gaped up at him.

"Daddy," I gasped, handing Matthew to Andy and throwing my arms around my dad's neck, hugging him tightly as I fought back tears. I heard everyone awe in unison, causing me to bury my face in my dad's neck. He squeezed me tightly, rocking me back and forth slowly. I stepped back, taking hold of his shoulders and smiling as tears rolled slowly down my cheeks.

"I can't believe you're actually here. I've missed you so so much," I said. My dad smiled, his eyes brimming with tears as well.

"I'm just glad to be here. Who's this?" He asked, gesturing to Ashley who was standing behind me. I looked back as he handed a baby to CC and one to Jake. I grabbed Ashley's hand, pulling him forward and smiling.

"Dad, this is Ashley. He's my fiancé," I said. Ashley smiled nervously.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, sir," Ashley said, sticking his other hand out to shake. My dad smiled, taking Ashley's hand and giving it a firm shake.

"When's the wedding?" He asked, smiling brightly.

"Sometime soon. We haven't settled on a date yet," I told him, "But I have a surprise for you." I took Matthew from my cousin, smiling as he giggled and pointed at my dad.

"Who's that, Matthew? Is that grandpa?" I asked, smiling wide. I looked at my dad.

"Grandpa? I'm a grandpa?" He asked. I nodded.

"Do you want to hold him?" I asked. He took Matt from me gently, and I was handed Noah next.

"Dad, this is Noah. Your other grandson," I smiled.

"Twins?" He asked. I took a step back and Ashley stepped next to me with Anne Marie.

"Triplets. This is Anne Marie," I said.

Definitely the best birthday ever.
