Escaping Grace

Who's Got It Out for Andy?

Something kept buzzing.
Why did Andy have bees in his apartment.? I didn't like bees.
I opened one eye, and sat up. It was nine in the morning, why would anyone be calling at this time?
"Andy," I shook his shoulder. "Your phone."
"Answer it," he mumbled, rolling away from me. I frowned, then reached across him and picked it up.
"Hello?"
"Er --- I'm looking for an Andrew Biersack about a 2014 Mustang?"
"This is his phone. He's... Indisposed." He wouldn't wake the fuck up more like it. I gave him a rough shake, but he merely pulled the pillow over his face.
"Can I take a message?" I asked.
"Sure. I'm Rob Lowerry at Fensfield Mechanics. Just tell him to call me back, it's urgent."
"Okay, I will, thanks." I pressed End, then stretched and put his phone back on the night stand.
"Whowasit?"
"Rob something from Fensfield Mechanics," I responded, squirming back down in the bed and pulling the sheet over my face to fight the morning light.
"Whatdidhewant?"
"If you had talked to him you would know." He shuffled, and then the sheet was being pulles off my head. He rolled me onto my back, a sleepy grin on his face.
"Is my girlfriend not a morning person?"
"No." I tugged at the sheet, but he wouldn't give it up. He glanced at the time, and then flopped back down.
"Fuck, it's early."
"I know," I pulled on the sheet again.
"So," he rolled his head to look at me, "when do you move in?"
I finally got the sheet from him, and snorted, pulling it over my head.
"Baby steps, Andrew."
"You only call me that when you're about to scold me.or yell at me."
Well. The sheet was pulled away again.
I scowled. Andy chuckled, and pressed a kiss to my ear. He nibbled down my jaw to my throat, and I shifted. "If you give me another hickey I'll add to your current injuries."
I felt him grin. "I have to claim my territory," he murmured, and gave me a peck on the lips.
"Andy, you've officially reeled me in as your girlfriend, I think you're good."
"Am I?" he played with my hair. "Because if I mess up, I don't want you to run away from me".
"I'm not gonna run away." Andy shrugged, and then kissed me again and sat up. "How about a shower?"
I rose up on my elbows. I'd left some clothes here from my stay, so I was actually wearing my pajamas. It made me feel so much better to not be dependent on borrowing his clothes.
"You can't get your bandage wet. If you do you'll have to change it."
He frowned. "How long?"
"At least until tomorrow. You got cut up bad. "
He flailed back down.
"Aren't you sore?" I rolled onto my side, gazing at his profile. "You were in a wreck."
"I stay sore," he brushed it off. "I put my body through so much shit it barely notices anymore."
"As long as you stay in one piece," I sighed, walking my fingers across his chest. He had a few scrapes and scratches, and I pressed a kiss to all of them.
"You never did tell me what happened," I murmured, snuggling Up to him. He sighed.
"I was going to the studio to see John, and the light turned red. My brakes just didn't work, I don't know. I couldn't get stopped. Some asshole T-boned me. The windshield busted, which is where all this came from." he motioned at his cuts. "My poor car."
"That's why you shouldnt drive so fast."
Andy chuckled, and pressed his lips into my hair. "At least it got you here," he murmured. "I would do it again."
I rolled my eyes.
"Hopefully not," I raised my eyes to his, "or I'll have a premature heart attack."
He grinned slightly, and then cussed as his phone rang again.
"Hello?" he muttered. He frowned, and then sat up, his face turning serious. "Now? Fine, I guess. Oh," he glanced to the front door. "Gimme a few minutes."
He hung up.
"What is it?"
"Some cops wanna talk to me about my car."
"Your --- why?"
"I dunno." he threw the sheet off his legs and stood. "But they're here."
"Here!?" I scrambled out of bed. "I should get out of here then."
"No," I turned, and Andy was hovering at the end of the bed, about to pull a gray t shirt on. "Stay. They shouldn't be here long."
I hesitated. I did need to get back to my apartment, but I didn't want to leave Andy either.
"Okay, I'll stay. You want some coffee?"
"Yeah." I headed off to the kitchen, glancing nervously at the apartment door. I started the coffee pot, and then used a band off my wrist to tie my hair up.
"There's some hot chocolate in the cabinet if you want some!" Andy called from the bedroom, and I paused. He had bought hot chocolate?
I pulled open one of the cabinets, and smiled. He had bought some. Not the right brand, but I wasn't picky. I pulled a packet out and started to boil some water. After a minute, Andy emerged from the bedroom.
"Andy! You're not supposed to take that off!"
"It itched. I'll just put on a new one."
I scowled, my eyes flicking over the damage on his arm. "Where's the bandages at? I'll do it."
A few minutes later there was a knock on the door, and a newly cottoned Andy answered it. I grimaced, putting away the peroxide and the box of bandages.
"Mr. Biersack, I'm Robert Dunnigan, and this is my partner Dean Manchester."
"Cool, come in," Andy stepped back to allow them in, and the two men shuffled forward. They sent me a polite nod, and I forced a smile. I turned away, pouring Andy a cup of black coffee and mixing my hot chocolate up. Once I was done I could scurry my butt into the bedroom and pretend not to be here. I slid Andys coffee across the bar to him, and manners caught the best of me.
"Would either of you like some coffee?" I asked, "It's fresh."
"Sure, that would be great," the one I assumed was Dunnigan smiled. "Just black."
"Okay." the other one shook his head. Right. I hastily poured him some coffee and handed it to him, and then started to the bedroom.
"Babe," Andy caught the end of my shirt and tugged me back. He slipped his arm around my waist, forcing me to stay. The cop hesitated a moment, then shrugged.
"We recieved a call from Fensfield Mechanics concerning your car. Normally, we wouldn't have come so abruptly, but considering your status, we thought it was to come here directly."
I frowned.
"You said you had your car worked on last week, correct?"
"Yeah, I did. They said everything was fine."
"It looks like someone cut your brake lines."
It took me a moment. Someone intentionally cut them? So he would intentionally get in an accident? So he --- he ---.
"Stop freaking out," Andy squeezed me a moment. How could I not freak out?!
"Can you tell me anyone you can think of who would wish you harm?" the other cop asked.
"Dude, I don't know." Andy shook his head after a moment. "I piss people off all the time."
"Ex girlfriends? Jealous boyfriends?"
I frowned.
"Most of my exs hate me," Andy shrugged, and I looked down into my cup, still frowning.
"What about you, miss ...?"
"Kabinov."
"What about you, Miss Kabinov? Can you think of anyone?" Dunnigan glanced at my forehead, and I shifted uncomfortably.
Surely not. He wouldn't stoop to that, would he? Trying to kill someone?
"I doubt it," Andy answered for me. "We've not been together long, she wouldn't know anything."
"Ah." Dunnigan didn't look convinced. "Miss Kabinov --- Russian, right?"
I nodded, blinking. "Russian families are very close knit, I'm surprised you're out here on your own. Any family?" he asked casually.
"My brother."
"And he is fine with you and Mr. Biersacks relationship?"
"Fine." I glared at the cop. "My brother doesn't care."
"What about the ex boyfriend who did that to your face last month?"
I stiffened. A
ndy sat his coffee down with a clatter. "Get to the point, or leave." he snapped, and I sent him a nervous glance.
Dunnigan didn't seem bothered. "Have you spoken to Ross Conner any since he attacked you?" he asked, staring me down.
"No, of course not. You're the ones who're supposed to be finding him, not me," I glared.
"Fair enough. We're not accusing you of anything, but when you have a man as violent as Conner, there is no telling what he will do."
"You think he did this?" I stared at him. "That he tried to kill Andy?"
"It's possible."
I hadn't even been dating Andy a full day and already his life was in danger. Andy squeezed my hand. "Is that all you guys want?"
"Yes, thank you for your time. We'll be in touch," the cops moved toward the door and Andy let them out.
I started pacing. This was actually my fault. I was going to get Andy killed and I would never forgive myself for it.
"Hey," Andy caught my hand, and pulled me to him, locking his arms around my waist so I couldn't move. "You gotta calm down. No, this isn't your fault, and no, it probably isn't him. They were just freaking us out and wanting us to be on guard. It was probably just some girls boyfriend I pissed off months ago."
That didn't make me feel better. I started chewing my lip. "You need a bodyguard or something," I started.
"Leah, come on." Andy plopped on the couch. "It's not a big deal. It's not like it's going to happen again."
"What if someone breaks in here?" I demanded. "And you're asleep or something? You can't stay here."
"Oh? And where am I gonna go?" he raised a brow at me as I paced in front of the coffee table. "Our tour doesn't start for a bit. I can't stay with you with your brother crashing, plus Vale has me on a hit list. You could, however, stay with me for a couple days. I was just in a terrible accident."
"You can't guilt me, Andy." I frowned at him. "Or change the subject. This is serious. You could get hurt!"
"C mere," he raised a hand, and I took it, letting him pull me into his lap. He wrapped his arms around me, his bandages scratchy against my skin. "No one is going to come in here and attack me, okay?" he stroked my hair, like he was calming a child. "I can handle myself regardless. Plus I beat the shit out of him."
I smiled. "Have I mentioned how attached to you I am?"
"Is it me or my amazing powers of persuasion?" he asked, walking his fingers up my thigh.
"You know, you'd think your libido would be hampered by someone trying to kill you."
"Nah." he grinned. I chuckled, and then pecked his lips. "I actually need to get back, so I suggest you get dressed."
"Why?"
"After that, I'm not leaving you here by yourself." I ruffled his hair. "Only I'm allowed to cause you bodily harm. And Danny is leaving soon so I do have to spend some time with him."
"Fine," Andy turned my face to his, "but later."
