Escaping Grace

Road Trip

"Isn't this great?" Vale whispered to me in the parking lot. I nodded, watching as all of our stuff was loaded onto the Black Veil Bride bus and the black van behind it.
Danny was standing beside me, looking excited. He'd never been to one of our concerts, and this was his first time meeting BVB members other then Andy. And I knew he listened to their music so his fanboy was bound to come out at some point.
"Look at CC," Vale gazed at her boytoy as he stepped off the bus, saying something to whoever was behind him. "Doesn't he look amazing in those pants?"
"Yeah, he looks great," I agreed; she'd bought them for him, and if I told her they looked like all his other black jeans she'd probably hit me.
Clarke leaned against the car behind us, talking on the phone to Nate, who was late of course. "I swear to god, Nate, I told you when to be here. If you'd get your head out of your ass or some girls for five fucking minutes you would know that," he was snapping.
I winced, my head ringing. I was pretty sure at this point that I didn't have a concussion. I'd had one before, so I had some experience with it.
Which made me worry even more because if I didn't have a concussion what was with this random sick bouts I kept getting?
I glanced at Andy. He was smoking over with Jinxx and Ashley by his car, and I really wanted to talk to him.
I don't think I could keep up my end of the bargain, and it had been my idea in the first place. We'd agreed that if one of us started getting too many feelings for the other that we would call it off, and now I was really confused about it.
Did we still have a deal? Had the rules changed and I not realized it? And how did he feel? I was pretty sure I was stressing myself out over nothing.
But I was really glad I'd decided not to bring it up yesterday. I didn't want to stop having whatever it was we had; I really enjoyed it actually.
We weren't in a relationship, and we weren't public with any affection we might show each other. But I could understand why everyone thought we were dating, too.
God, I almost wished I'd never met him.
All the anxiety curled up in my chest made me wish it more. I didn't know how to handle things like this, which is why I didn't put myself in the situation where I would have too and then no doubt humiliate myself like I always did.
"Leah? Hellooo?" I jerked, turning to look at Vale.
"What?"
"I said it's time to load the bus." she frowned at me. "Are you sure you're up for this?"
"Yeah, totes," I said hastily, seeing Nate had apparently arrived while I'd been lost in thought.
"Then let's go," she said brightly. I followed her onto the bus, glancing around. It was actually pretty spacious. The front had two rows of couches and a small kitchen, and farther back I could see bunks hidden behind curtains. Ashley was already half sprawled in one of the bunks, typing on his phone. I sat down on the couch closest to the wall, and settled back. Clarke and Nate sat down behind one of the rolling tables like you would eat a TV dinner on. Vale, of course, snuggled up to CC wherever he sat.
I pulled out my phone, checking my notifications. I had two missed calls from an unknown number, but no texts messages. I'd be damned if I ever answered another number I didn't know after the last incident. if they wanted to talk to me so badly they could leave a message.
"Everyone ready to go?" the driver called as he settled behind the wheel. "Everybody here?"
There was a chorus of yeahs, and so the driver buckled himself in and took off.
I was officially starting the ten hour road trip.
They almost drove my crazy.
Clarke, Danny, and Nate decided to throw a high stakes poker game between them, Ashley, Jinxx, and Jake that lasted through most of the ride. I sat and watched YouTube videos.
I glanced up when Andy sat down beside me.
"Tired of the tension of poker?" I asked, pausing the video.
"They're driving me crazy," he muttered, throwing his arms out along the back of the couch. I chuckled.
"They better not underestimate Danny, he could rip off a casino if he wanted."
Andy glanced over at the table. "He looks like he's losing."
"Unless Jinxx has some badass cards, he's never going to top Dannys game," I replied, leaning up slightly to look at the table. Even from here I could tell Jake was about to fold, and Nate was squirming. Clarke had a grin on his face, though.
"What are you watching?"
I looked down. "Markiplier. He does gaming."
"Is he good?"
"If you like comedy during the playthrough he's great. Here," I handed him my other headphone. He scooted closer until our hips were pressed together, and leaned over as I pressed play, starting from the beginning. I leaned my head back against the couch, and Andy chuckled as Markiplier began to scream in horror as a monster chased him.
We watched almost the entire playthrough.
The driver slammed on the brakes. There was a chorus of yells as everyone flailed, poker chips flying and I nearly lost my phone. Andy grabbed me, clutching at me as the bus finally squealed to a stop.
"What the fuck?" I heard Ashley demand, amd we all looked forward.
Shit. There was a wreck right in front of us, three cars all piled together. The police were already there but no one was flagging traffic. The car in front of us apparently hadn't seen the flashing lights, and our bus had barely stopped in time from turning them into a tuna can.
I leaned up from Andys lap, my hair straggling down in front of my face.
"Everybody good?" the driver called worriedly.
"Our game," Nate sighed. "It isn't salvageable."
"You're only saying that because you're losing," Jake told him. Nate glared at him, and they began picking up all of the pieces.
I resituated myself with a grumble, untangling my headphones. Andy sighed, and pulled me into the crook of his arm. I settled, handing him one side of the headphones again as we tried to resume YouTube.
"So is this what you do in your spare time?" he asked, my head leaned against his shoulder.
"Maybe. What else should I be doing?"
"Well, I have a few ideas."
I glanced back, hearing his tone, and blushed.
I quickly looked back down at the screen, but raised my head as I heard a camera.
"Vale!"
"Sorry! Too cute a moment to pass up," she sent me a grin, and I scowled at her. I hated getting my picture taken, even more so when I didn't know about it.
I grabbed one of the pillows and tossed it at her, and she smacked it out of the way easily.
"Do you always throw things at people?" CC asked, glancing up from his phone.
"Yes, she does," Andy answered for me.
"I do not!"
"Yeah you do," Danny suddenly piped up. "She literally threw a hairdryer at me a few years ago."
I glared at him. "Actually, he asked for one and I tossed it to him."
"Only after I told you ---."
"You're not remembering what happened right," I interrupted before he could finish. He actually was, but I didn't want everyone to know I'd freaked out on him because he was trying to get me to go to a doctor. They would think I was even more weird then they already thought. Danny raised his brows, but let it go.
'How much longer till we get to the hotel?" Clarke stretched.
"Like five more hours." Ashley informed him. "More if this traffic stays up. This is why we always come a day before."
I jumped, screams erupting from Markiplier unexpectedly as he died.
Andy laughed, and I scrunched up my nose. "I hate it when he does that. "
"I don't," he grinned.
I was starting to doubt I would survive this trip unscathed.
