Alura had spent the whole night crying her eyes out. It was hard to see her like this. She tried to stop crying to let me sleep, but I knew she was in pain. Eliza had asked Andy for her plane ticket and had left yesterday night on a flight back to Philadelphia. Andy didn't stop her, even though she had won the contest and this trip was for her, she left. No one had expected this contest to turn out as bad as it did. Which I guess for me it didn't turn out bad. I have the girl of my dreams.
Sometime during the night she had fallen asleep between sobbing and sniffling. I held her close to me, even though I know it hurt her because of the sunburn. I didn't want to let go. I felt as though I needed to protect her from the wrong in the world. I fell asleep finally while propped up on a mountain of pillows. Needless to say my neck was killing me in the morning. When I woke up the next morning Alura wasn't there. I heard water moving in the tub and got up. Just to sooth my own mind to make sure she wasn't trying anything stupid. There was Alura, sitting in a tub full of tea. I leaned against the door jam and crossed my arms over my bare chest. She looked up at me as the wall cracked with my added weight.
"Morning Ashley." She said. Her eyes weren't puffy or red and she looked good for having just lost her best friend. Some friend right?
"Morning Alura." I responded. I pushed off of the jam with my shoulder and walked over to the toilet. I sat down on the seat cover and looked at her.
"Today we are going to an amusement park over on one of the other islands." She smiled and I could see a shot of pain that crossed her eyes.
"It will be easier when you leave Philadelphia. It will be a new place with no memories of her." I said and reached over to run my hands through her hair. She nodded and I could see it hurt her to think of that. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly. I could hear the rattle that came out as she collected herself. It was like she put everything into a little box and stored it away for later.
"I know. It was going to happen anyway. Our relationship had been rocky for a while, it's just hard when it happens so suddenly. I was trying to pull away slowly, but it wasn't quick enough for her." She looked to me and there was that mask again.
"Why do you do that Alura?" I asked and she shook her head.
"I don't do anything. I'm still in pain. You know I am, so why cry? You'll be there to comfort me. I can cry later."
"You can cry later." I said looking at her.
"Yea, right now is supposed to be full of fun, I'll cry later."
"You know that isn't healthy." She nodded and looked up at me.
"Just because I'm a psychologist doesn't mean that all my emotional choices are the best. I just need to have fun. You guys are my friends now." She smiled weakly and then moved to get up. I helped her out of the tub. She had a point, but I still didn't like this ability of hers to just turn her emotions on and off like a faucet.
"Promise me, that when we get home, you will let those emotions out." I said. My eyes unfocused ahead of me. Did I just call my house home to her?
"Well, I have a nice plane ride home alone to look forward to." She said and sighed deeply. I wrapped her up in a towel and then in my arms. She sniffed and nodded. I didn't know if it was a tear or water from her hair that landed on my shoulder.
"Well, how about I come with you to help you pack up your stuff?" I asked and she just shook her head.
"I won't be able to come out there for another couple of months. I have one last client that absolutely needs me." She broke away from me and I sighed. I knew it would come to that.
"Well, I can recommend you to people out in Cali." I smiled and she looked at me with a weak smile of her own. At least she knew I didn't want her to fake anything in front of me.
"Good, I'll need a new client base. I rather not work for a company. I like keeping my own hours that aren't restricted by the buildings office hours." She looked in the mirror. "I look like a fucking lobster." I laughed. She had the biggest sun tan line that ever was. She smiled genuinely and I couldn't help but double over as she made her hands into little claws and snapped them beside herself. She winced at the pain and took out a big bottle of sun block. "Wanna help me put this on?" She asked and I nodded. About ten minutes later we had her red skin so sun blocked it looked pink.
"Now you're a shrimp." I laughed. "Or a fruit loop." I laughed harder at my own inside joke and she looked at me.
"My music teacher used to call our class fruit loops." She smiled and looked at herself in the mirror. "Now I'm a fruit loop that you eat with tea instead of milk." I made a face to that which made her giggle.
"That sounds disgusting." She nodded and we walked out to the bedroom and she put on a bikini. I looked at her and she just shrugged.
"It only touched the areas that don't hurt. We are in Florida, no one will think any different." I nodded and put on some shorts and a wife beater. I put on my converses and she put on some flats and grabbed a drawstring bag. I looked at her and she looked at me.
"How many bags do you have?"
"A metric fuck ton." She said and we both laughed at the reference. Off we went to the lobby. Andy and Juliet were already there, sitting in one of the chair, sucking face. I put my hand on Alura's back and stood with her next to Andy and Juliet, but far enough away to not disturb their spit swapping. It wasn't long before Jake, Ella, Sammi, Jinxx, and CC all came downstairs. We all hopped into the two cars and we were off. It was Jinxx, Sammi, CC, Alura, and I all in one car. That wasn't an easy fit, especially with Alura's sunburn, but after she glared at CC for five minutes about him wearing jean shorts to an amusement park they started play fighting in the back seat. It started with CC poking Alura's now pink skin. She had squealed in pain and slapped him hard on the leg.
"Woah! Watch the goods Allie!" He said guarding his penis with his hand.
"I'm not going to hit your dangly bits." She said and we all laughed.
"I have more than just some bits." He said and Alura nodded.
"Yea I'm sure." CC poked her again and she slapped him again.
"I said watch my dick!" CC said poking her again.
"You started it!" She hit him again.
"You started it!" CC mimicked and poked her again. I just watched the two fight from my seat by the window. Alura somehow in the middle of the fight had found her way into my lap and was nearly out the open window. Then came the sirens. Jinxx groaned and pulled over to the side of the road. The cop came to Jinxx's window and looked into the car.
"Ma'am you can't hang out of car windows like that. In this state everyone must wear a seatbelt." Alura looked at her seat belt, which, was on and pointed to it.
"I'm wearing one." The cop looked at her seatbelt and shook his head.
"You have to be sitting in your seat. You could be a distraction to the driver of the car and cause an accident. I'm sure you don't want to be the cause of getting your friends into an accident." He put his sunglasses back on and she took off her seat belt and leaned into the front seat. She leaned across Jinxx's lap and gave the cop a full view of her cleavage. I on the other hand had a very nice view of her fine ass, which was perfectly fine and had no sunburn, so in light of the situation I slapped it, hard. A moan escaped her mouth and she just smiled up at the cop.
"I promise it will never happen again officer." She said and wiggled her ass in front of my face. CC laughed as I slapped her ass again and caused another moan. Jinxx looked back at CC and glared at the only person he could see. CC put his hands up in defense.
"Alright ma'am." The cop said and walked off. Sammi started laughing the second Jinxx rolled up his window. Alura gave Jinxx a kiss on the forehead and smiled.
"Sorry about that Jinxx." She sat back down in the seat and in revenge massaged my package slowly. Instead of making my younger brother feel any more awkward I bit my lip to hold back a moan. CC looked over and shook his head.
"If these two are going to fuck in the back seat, can I get in Andy's car?" Alura took her hand from my dick and folded her hands in her lap.
"Little ol' me? Why good golly gosh! I would never do such a thing!" She smiled innocently and CC shook his head.
"Yea you would!"
"No I wouldn't! I would be nice enough to ask you to join!" CC looked at me and I shrugged.
"I wouldn't want you to join, but that doesn't mean she doesn't."
"You sure are a little whore Alura." Sammi giggled and Alura laughed.
"Yea I guess so. Or maybe this world is too uptight." Sammi turned around and high fived Alura. Obviously the two would get along great.
"Wish I could get Jinxx to have a threesome." She said and Jinxx blushed. She leaned across the seat and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"You're driving home Ash." He said and I shrugged.
"Alright."
We got to the amusement park about an hour later. It looked awesome. Alura grabbed my arm and CC's arm and ran off toward the nearest ride. It was something easy, which was alright with me. It was something that was able to sit three people per row. With Alura in the middle of CC and I we got on the ride. Alura called it a warm up ride. Since CC didn't have anyone to ride with, until halfway through the park he found a girl that was a "third wheel" as she called it. They ran off to ride on their own. I grabbed Alura and we headed toward a funnel cake stand. While we walked through the park we ate the funnel cake and talked.
"So, how are you feeling?" I asked and she looked at me. I saw a flash of pain and then it was concealed, like a big bruise behind cover up. I sighed and threw out the plate for the funnel cake, grabbed her and hugged her. She hugged me back. She clung to me like her life depended on it. She was so hurt and in so much pain. I didn't want to let her go. People passed us and I could feel some tears run down my chest.
"I feel like someone is trying to pull my heart out from my throat." She said and tears started flowing. I looked around and saw Jinxx and Sammi walking toward us. I gave Jinxx a look and he stopped Sammi. They stood there and waited. I wouldn't be able to get Alura to open up if there was someone else there other than just me. "I have been so angry with her for so long, but I put up with her shit this whole time, and it turns out she is the one that leaves just because I want to move to California. She is the reason why! It's not fair. I've put up with so much shit and she just fucking leaves. I hate her for it, but that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt!" More tears were streaming down her face and I just tightened my grip on her.
"She wasn't a friend if you didn't like her." I said and she looked up at me, her makeup wasn't running, but that was only because of how waterproof Mac was. "Your friendship was an illusion you had. Friends don't do things like that to each other and you have to realize that for a while now you two have just been people to spend time with, like how you spend time with people at school or at work. Friends support one another, no matter what choices they make." I hugged her close to me and sighed. "Even if you wanted to stay in Philadelphia and stay there. I would support you. We wouldn't be able to be together if you decided to do that, and only because long distance relationships all come to an end eventually, but we could still be friends." I looked down at her and she gave me a watery smile.
"That isn't going to happen." She said and I wiped a few remaining tears from her face.
"I know this doesn't help much, because it still hurts, but I'm here for you, no matter what." I leaned down and kissed her forehead. With a look to Jinxx he and Sammi continued to walk toward us. Sammi grabbed Alura and ran off with her to have some girl time. Jinxx stayed behind and we both talked.
"Eliza is a bitch." I said and Jinxx looked at me. It was weird to hear me call a woman a bitch because, after all, I do worship them. Jinxx sighed and I shook my head.
"This needed to happen. The way she was, and the way Alura is…it wouldn't have lasted much longer anyway. Eliza is bad for people. Did you notice how you would feel extra tired around her?" Jinxx asked and I looked at him and smiled.
"Is this another one of your weird theories?" I asked and he punched me in the arm.
"Not a weird theory. It's proven!"
"So you say." I laughed and got punched again.
"Anyway, people that are negative most of the time carry with them something similar to a magnet. They suck away all the good energies and leave behind negative emotions and anger. Anger and sadness cause people to be more tired. That isn't good for when you are around someone all the time. I bet you Alura feels tired almost all the time. Well, that is because of Eliza. When she has been gone for a while, she will feel more energized and she will feel a lot better." Jinxx finished his little lesson and I shook my head. I would ask Alura about it, because no matter how crack pot I think Jinxx's theories are, most of the time, they are right. We walked through the park and eventually we caught up with the girls.
"There is this ride called thunder and lightning, it's in Hershey Park. If you guys ever come to Philadelphia you have to put aside two whole days to go here. It's awesome and I used to go there every summer with my family. My mom would get tickets from work. It was awesome. Anyway, there are two roller coasters and they race one another. Sometimes thunder wins, sometime lightning wins. It's awesome. I used to race my friends all the time when we would go." She didn't say which friends and I didn't know if she was talking about Eliza or not, but she didn't mention her name.
"That sounds awesome. I've always heard about The Great Bear. Does it really sound like it roars?" Sammi asked and Alura smiled and nodded.
"I've been on the great bear once, awesome ride!"
"Why have you only been on it once?" I asked as I slid my hands around her waist and held her close to me.
"I used to be deathly afraid of roller coasters." She said and blushed. I didn't know how I could notice with her skin already being pink from the sun block that she had just reapplied, and was getting on my skin, and her sunburn.
"Aw, Alura was afraid of roller coasters?"
"And needles." She said I laughed and flicked her earring.
"Well, how about we get you a facial piercing?" I asked, "Or a belly button ring." I continued.
"no facial piercings unless you get me a clear one, I can't just go running around with a facial piercing and expect people to take me seriously as a psychologist." She had a point.
"Well a belly button ring it is then!" I said and hugged her closer to me. She visibly paled and I laughed.
"I still don't like needles." She said and I gave her a kiss on the cheek.
"Well, you get blood drawn right?" I asked and she nodded.
"It's just like that!" Sammi chimed in and Alura sighed.
"I'm being morphed into an LA native already!" She said clenching her fists and raising them above her lowered head. We all laughed.
"Well, it will be fun. Maybe a tattoo here and there." I said and ran my hands over her flawless skin. Well, as flawless as you can get with a one day old sun burn that was already pealing.
"Well, maybe I don't want a tattoo." She said and poked me in the side. She had a thing with poking.
"What is up with you and poking people?" I asked and she laughed.
"Maybe I'm into strap ons and want to poke you huh?" She said and I was the one who ended up paling that time. Everyone laughed. I just shook my head to get that image out of my head and put my hand over my ass.
"You are not getting anywhere near my ass with any type of sex toy." I said which only made everyone laugh. After a few more rides it was dark and it was a half an hour until the park was closing. Happily all the couples agreed to get on the Ferris wheel. I wrapped my arm around Alura and as she leaned into me I sighed. This was a great first date to me. Although she cried in the middle of the day, she was still with me and enjoying the day. As the wheel went around we happily joined in with the rest of the couples and made out with each other. To make everything even better, a fireworks display had started about 5 minutes before we had gotten on the ride. Best. Date. Ever.
On the way home, I drove. Alura had happily leaned her chair back while CC rode with Andy in their car. Sammi was laying across the back seat on Jinxx's lap.
"Is Alura going to be ok?" Jinxx asked. I looked in the rearview mirror to him and sighed.
"I don't know. She is pretty shaken up, but she seems like she is doing ok. Only time will tell." Jinxx shook his head and ran his hand unconsciously over Sammi's hair.
"Is she moving to Cali?" He asked, that was more personal, only because he didn't want to see me getting into a relationship only to have it end because she isn't willing to move.
"Yea, but not right away. She has a client that she needs to make sure is ok before she leaves. I'm glad she is making sure she has everything tied up with a nice bow before she moves out with me." I reached across the seat and held Alura's head from hitting the window as I turned a corner.
"Well, she has her shit together." He said and adjusted the blanket that was over Sammi.
"Yea, she does have her shit together. I can't wait until she gets out there with me." I smiled at Jinxx and he smiled back.
"I haven't seen you this happy in a while. I'm glad you two met. You needed a good girlfriend." He said and I just nodded, focusing back on the road. Finally we rolled into the parking lot of the hotel. Jinxx and I carried our women to our rooms. With a nod to each other we went into our rooms. I took off Alura's bikini and covered her with the blanket. Once that was done, I went to the bathroom, brushed my teeth, undressed, and slid into bed next to her. She hadn't moved. Good, she needed her sleep.
"Night Alura." I kissed her on her forehead and drifted off to sleep myself.
