We Are Unbreakable

Kimbers POV

CC left early for the studio again this morning, which left me to slowly get ready for my shift at the bar.
Throwing on the Youth & Whiskey tank top I realised how tightly it clung to my stomach. Soon enough I would have a baby bump and I wouldn't be able to wear it. For now I just looked bloated. Hopefully Riley would be okay with a pregnant person working at a bar.
I made my way over to the bar and upon walking in I heard Ashley and Riley fighting.
"Can't you just drop this topic!" Riley yelled.
"I would if you would just swallow your pride and believe there is something wrong! It is getting you down and I can't take it anymore!" Ashley yelled back.
I walked behind the bar and into the office where they were standing opposite each other, obviously very frustrated.
"Hey guys..." I said nervously.
Riley took a sigh of relief and sat down in her chair. Ashley rolled his eyes and leaned against the wall.
"Sorry you have to hear this Kimber, but Riley is being a pain" he huffed then walked out of the office.
"Are you guys okay?" I asked Riley.
"We're fine. We're just getting frustrated with each other more than usual now" she said opening her laptop and turning it on.
I placed my bag down and removed my jacket, when Riley looked up at me.
"I ordered you a new top. One that's a little baggy so you can hide the baby bump for a little longer. Cause in probably two months time you can take maternity leave."
"In two months! I can work longer that!" My voice going up an octave.
"I know, but it doesn't look good to have a pregnant person working at a bar. You would of had to realise that Kimmie."
I was in complete shock for a moment, but she was right. It would look bad for me and the bar.
"Why are you guys yelling now?" Ashley said as he re-entered the office.
"Nothing. Just Kimbers maternity leave" Riley said reaching out to take a glass of whiskey out of Ashley's hand.
"Okay, well, I'm gonna go. They probably need me at the studio now. I'll see you tonight Riles" he said kissing her forehead.
"Bye babe" she said with eyes still glued to her laptop.
After Ashley left I just stared at Riley.
"What?" Riley said after a minute.
"Nothing. You guys were yelling one minute then fine the next."
"Well, that's just how we are. We get everything out, then get on with our lives. We don't let things bug us."
I shook my head at her and left her to work while I attended to the bar.
"Hey there's this new band on the scene and they have a decent fan base. They are called Blood Promises. Have you heard of them?" Riley yelled from the office.
"Umm, the name sounds familiar. Are they gonna play here?" I called back.
"Maybe. I wanna see if they have a fan base in LA. I don't think they are from here."
I rolled my eyes at these conversations. Riley used them as fillers to avoid talking about how she feels. I wanted to ask, but I already knew and talking about it with me probably wasn't the best option.
"Babe, how do think Ash is taking all this?" I called out to her just lightly touching on the topic.
"What? Hold on."
I footsteps coming towards me and then Riley standing behind me when I turned around.
"I mean how do you think all this affecting Ashley?" I asked again.
She opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out. She stayed silent for a moment longer, thinking about what she hadn't considered.
"I suppose I have been a pain..." She said quietly.
"Ashley hates seeing you like this. He's only trying to help you so you guys can move on and fix this. He said you haven't been yourself for the last few months."
"I don't even know anymore. I don't know how I feel. I'm torn, it's like cause I can't have a kid, I want one, but if I had no problems... would I want one? You know? I'm just really confused" she sighed while pouring herself another whiskey.
"I suppose I get what you're saying. Why don't you guys take a break, like do something fun. Forget about all this baby stuff and just enjoy each other. You guys need to refresh. Why don't you take a couple days off? I can manage until the weekend" I offered.
"I'll think about it sweetie. Thanks though" she said walking back into her office.

When I finished work at 11, I had a voice mail from my mom back in Minneapolis. I clicked to open it and listened.
Hello Kimber, I hope you are well. Listen I have some bad news. Ryan's parents have passed away recently and as you know Ryan is still in rehab. I need you to call me back when you can. Love you sweetie.
All I could think was fuck.
This was a portion of my life I had always wanted to keep separate from CC, but I suppose I knew this day would come sooner or later. This was just really bad timing.

Thank you guys for the votes and subscribers already. That is so awesome! More stuff coming soon. Might be a little inconsistent since it is Christmas. I'll try and get a few more done before I break.
