We Are Unbreakable

Kimbers POV

I never thought I would be so lucky.
A girl from Minneapolis, Minnesota. How could I ever imagine having a life like mine? I thought I would be stuck there forever, never getting the chance to get away.
But I did.
When I moved to LA at 22, I had no goal or dream, just a drive to get away from what I knew. My life in Minneapolis wasn't bad, but wasn't easy. I left behind a portion of my life that I knew would drag me down.
At now 27, I couldn't ask for anything more. Perfect husband, baby on the way, the most amazing best friend and a job where I call the shots... to an extent... until Riley over rules me...

As I drove away from Riley and Ashley's house I couldn't help but feel bad for them. They had been trying for so long and it was getting to Riley. Her confidence in it was fading and I probably made it worse. She'll probably be having an anxiety attack right now. Maybe I shouldn't have said anything yet.
I decided to stop over at the studio to see if CC had told the guys yet.
I reached the studio and silently entered. CC was in the recording both, full on pounding the drums.
"Hey Kimber, what are you doing here?" Ashley asked when he saw me.
"I wanted to see if CC had told you guys the news yet."
"What news?" Jinxx said as he walked past.
"Well obviously he hasn't told you. I'll wait till he's out" I said pointing towards the booth.
"You can tell me" Ashley whispered when Jinxx was out of earshot.
"I already told your wife. I would like CC to kinda tell you guys."
"Fine" he pouted.
Ten minutes later, CC emerged from the booth and looked surprised to see me.
"Kimmie, what are you doing here?" He asked coming up to kiss me.
"I wanted to see if you told the guys yet" I said wrapping an arm around his waist.
"Tell us what CC?" Andy asked getting up from the couch.
"Me and Kimber are having a baby" CC said triumphantly.
We got a round of congratulations from all of the guys, but just as I was about to leave, Ashley pulled me aside.
"How did Riley react?" He said nervously.
"What do you mean?" I said playing dumb. I didn't really wanna get caught up in their issues.
"You know what I mean" he said rolling his eyes.
I sighed. "She put on a brave face, but I know she's crying on the inside. She's just in denial. She knows there's a problem, but she doesn't want proof."
"Well tonight is going to be fun then" he said sarcastically.
"Why? What did I do?! Should I have not told her?" I said with a worried tone.
"Look, you'd have to tell her and it was better coming from you, but I just worry. I know her situation has been getting her down. She hasn't been herself the last few months. I want her to get checked out so we know our options."
"Do you think something is wrong? Like very wrong..." I asked trying to think how bad it was right before they got married.
"Definitely. She was pregnant when we were in Vegas. That guy just really fucked her up and we're paying for it now."
"Will she be okay?"
"I'll talk to her."
"Let me know how that goes."
"Ash! Get in here, we need you!" Andy called.
"Okay!" He yelled back. "I'll talk to you later" he said to me then went to join the guys.
I left feeling slightly sad. I was hoping Riley wouldn't react too badly. I knew she was happy for me and everything, but it only makes you reflect on your own life. Riley will be turning 26 this year, so I suppose time is running out.
I bit my lip at the thought. I was already 27 and having my first child. If me and CC were to have another one, I'd want to get pregnant straight after.
I shook the thought from my mind trying to focus on the current baby growing inside me. I smiled as I thought about how things would change and how great of a dad CC would be.

Later that evening CC came home around 11:30 to me curled up in bed on my laptop.
"Hey sweetie, sorry I'm late. Went longer than I thought" he said as he entered our bedroom and flopped down on the bed.
"That's okay. I had a feeling. Looked a bit intense in there today" I said pushing my laptop aside so he could rest his head in my lap.
"What you looking up?"
"Baby room ideas."
"Isn't it a bit early for that? We don't know the sex yet" he said, turning onto his back so he could look up at me.
"I know, but it doesn't hurt" I giggled. "Did the guys say much when I left?"
"Usual stuff. Their all happy for us. Ashley seemed distracted..."
"Yeah, he's stressed about Riley. You know they have been trying for six months!"
"Shit, really? Do you think she's jealous?" He said sounding surprised.
"I wouldn't say jealous, she's probably gonna stress out. It'll put the pressure on, that's for sure. Ashley knows there's something wrong, she just doesn't wanna believe it" I said catching him up on their drama.
Next thing I knew my phone was ringing with Ashley's picture was on the caller ID.
"Speaking of the devil" I giggled to CC before I answered the call.
"Hey Ash, you're on speaker with me and CC" I said placing my phone on CC's chest.
"Hey guys. Well, I tried talking to Riley..." He said, sounding defeated.
"And...?" I questioned.
"Didn't go so well. She's still in denial. Won't get checked. Believes it will happen, when it happens. I seriously can't keep having the same conversation with her!" He said frustrated.
"Man, why are you guys stressing so much? You guys basically get to have sex all the time, why are we complaining?" CC said sarcastically.
I rolled my eyes at him.
"Oh, I'm not complaining about that. The sex is the best. Like literally almost every night!"
"Okay, Ash, I don't need to hear about your sex life. I know it's active, but every time you guys try and don't get the result, Riley just gets discouraged" I said butting in.
"I realise that. I'm waiting for her to just get annoyed with me and hold out on me. Which I have a feeling will start tonight..." He trailed off.
"Why do you say that?" I asked.
"Well, okay. When I got home she was downstairs doing her stripping practice thing, which is fine, but she had been down there all day!"
"Why is that a bad thing?" CC asked jokingly.
"Today it was. She had been there since Kimber left. No breaks. That's over 12 hours! Then she gets all frustrated with me for asking if she's okay! I knew she wasn't okay, so I said to just go and get checked out, but yeah, she just thinks I'm being pushy" he said annoyed.
"Well, you know what Riley's like. Just let her come to you. Where is she now?" I asked.
"In the spa, ignoring me" he scoffed.
"Just go join her, but don't push her to talk."
"That's hard for me, but I'll try. I'll let you guys go. Have a good night guys, bye."
"Night Ash" me and CC said unison.
I hung up the phone and placed it back on the nightstand.
"So, they are intense" CC said, sitting up to remove his jeans and top and sliding under the covers with me.
"I know. Riley has her issues. This just got added to the list when they came back from Vegas."
"They'll be fine. Now lets stop talking about them so I can just enjoy being home with you and my baby in my arms" he said snuggling into me.
I giggled and rested my head on his arm as he spooned me.
"Love you C."
"Love you Kimmie."

Soooo, basically I kinda re-wrote the short in Kimbers pov..
It was just a good starting point.
