The Everburning Flame

~Arlean’s POV~
She’s been dead for a while. NObody who had just died could have just done that. It takes time to gain that much restrain.
~Andy’s POV~Faith woke up after about five minutes. I figure she blacked out because of low blood sugar, so I suggested that we go eat something. She looked so panicked after she woke up, kind of like how Darling looked when I told her I was going to be gone for a while. Like something was going to happen, and not something good. Darling was like that because of her family but I don’t know why Faith looked like that. When we got to McDonald’s I ordered us food and when we got it we sat in the farthest booth.
“Faith, I’m sorry about what happened to Darling I never-” I started but Faith cut in.
“Don’t call her Darling, please. It only makes it worse.”“Makes what worse?” I asked, confused.
“The pain. My ex-boyfriend, Darren, used to call her that. At the time I thought it was just his language. He called me Sweetheart, I thought it was normal. I dated him for three years, and then he left me, said I was too old for him now. He always liked younger girls. He was 21, I was 16, same as Elizabeth. Only then did ELizabeth tell me that he had been raping her for all of those three years. She thought that she had caused him to leave me but at the time I didn’t care I was solely focused on making sure she was alright. The girl already had a bad enough family, abused since she was three and now the jackass thought it would be a good idea to rape her. He threatened to hurt me if she told anybody. It’s all my fault.” She cried. At that moment I decided it would be better if we finished this conversation in the car. I picked up our food and told Faith that we should probably go somewhere more private. She took the hint and moved tearfully towards the car. Once inside the car, Faith unleashed a hurricane of tears.
“She never told me about it until after he left me. She wouldn’t even talk to me after that because she thought she had betrayed me. However, for some odd reason, she kept the name. Then Ashley came along, strung up my heart, and ripped it out o my body. I was scared you were going to hurt her like Darren did, and that’s why I told her to leave you… It’s all my fault.” Faith cried into my shoulder. I just held her unable to think of what to say. I’m sorry? You did the right thing? Just then my phone started ringing.
“Speaking of the devil,” I answered the phone, “What’s up, Ashley? No, we’re not there at the moment… I hope she does more than slap you.” I ended the call. Faith looked up at me with a questioning gaze.
“Ashley and his latest ‘partner’ are at the hospital and they want to talk to you.” I replied before she even had the chance to ask. Her eyes glazed over with fury. When she was angry she looked like a flame. Acted like one too, always dancing on the line between beauty and danger, unpredictable and able to lash out at anyone. Faith, the everburning flame. I smile to myself.
