Life's Passing

I sat in the drivers seat and drove up the road that let to the hell hole I was growing too familiar with. I must have been doing ninety miles an hour. I took each turn and twist until I reached the top of the mountain. My heart was beating out of my chest and I could feel my lungs on fire as they struggled to breath in and out. I got out of the van after parking it on the side of the street reached for my gun and handed it to Ashley. "Uses this if he tries to come after you." I said. We ran forward onto the trail then. Ashley was in front of me pointing the gun into the darkness. Juliet behind him, then Jinxx behind me. CC and Bekah followed behind with wings out. I'd seen CCs' but never Bekahs'. She followed behind him with her hand twisted in his.

We ran over the rocks as fast as we could trying to get there in time. I hadn't wanted to think what he might have done to Leslie. I was just getting to know her, but I felt like I was really going to feel for her one day. She understood how I worked and how to calm me down when I needed help. I ran a little faster now thinking about her. I jumped over the last log that lead into the small platoed clearing. I began to look everywhere for some sign of Leslie but there was nothing at first. Only when I heard Juliet gasp, did I finally see. MY heart fell into the pit of my stomach. I saw Leslie hover above Devil's Chair just like Andy had. She hung limp in the air like someone tied a rope around her waist and was holding her up by it. "Leslie!" I called out and made an effort to climb to rock to try to get to her. I was half way up when I felt someone pulling at my legs. "Get off of me!" I yelled back down. I turned to see Jinxx. Though it wasn't Jinxx again. He didn't climb up the rocks like I had. He hovered a bit below me. I knew at once that Matthew had possessed him again. Was this how he was going to fight us? I guess he didn't have any choice since he was a spirit himself.

"I'm sorry Jinxx." I whispered and then turned my body slightly holding on to the rock with all my might and kicked Matthew in the chest making him fall. "Take care of him!" I yelled down to the rest and turned to climb back up the rocks. I heard the wind rush behind me and turned once more to look. I saw CC and Bekah in the air pulling Jinxx back down towards the ground. Juliet stood in a cat like stance ready to lung at him and Ashley point the gun towards him preparing himself to pull the trigger.

I made my move then and climbed up to the top of the chair. As I did I could feel my powers coursing threw me and becoming more prevalent. I remembered Leslie's thought about this being an opening to Hell and figured that must be why. I finally reached the top and stood on top of the chair. I looked up to see Leslie just above me, her eye were black as night as she floated in the air. I reached for her hand to try to pull her back down. My hand burned like it was on fire. I assumed he had some sort of shield around her. I took in a deep breath and felt my eyes go black. I reached for her one more time and felt the burning again only to engulf my hand in water to try to help the pain. I felt her hand in mine and pulled her down a bit. She let out a scream once I did this. No doubt she felt the fire as well. I never wanted to her that sound again. I let go and quickly thought of a plan. I was most likely going to have to get rid of Matthew before I could get her down. I looked down in time to see Jinxx grab Ashley and rip the gun from his hand. With one solid movement and turn the gun on him.

My anger raged again and I jumped from the rock and landed behind Matthew. He sensed me instantly and turned around throwing one punch that collided with the side of my face. I fell to my knees with the force of it. My vison was a little blurry as it seemed to reverb from the power of the blow. I looked up then to see him turning back to Ashley. "Run Ashley." I heard Juliet say as she lunged for Matthew. She managed to get her arms around him fast enough. She bent to dig her teeth into his neck but he wrapped one of his hands around her throat and ripped in out. I stared in horror as her body fell to the ground before us. She looked over to me before she finally closed her eyes and I felt the tears welding up behind my eyes. What had just happened.

We all were frozen for a second, but that second felt like an eternity. It was broken by Ashley running towards Matthew. He grabbed Matthew at the shoulder blade and pushed him into the ground. Ashley grabbed the gun and pushed the barrel into Matthew's forehead. "How the fuck could you just kill her?" He yelled in pain. At that moment Matthew began to squirm under Ashley's hand. "Please no! Don't shoot it's me Jinxx I swear! Please Ashley don't!" Ashley looked over him trying to figure out what was going on. He dropped the gun then with a trembling hand and let go of the devil he was holding. Ashely backed away and sat on the ground contemplating what he was about to do. I looked to Jinxx to see a grin on his face and knew that 'he' was up to no good. Matthew started to move his hand towards Ashley in a threating way. I had had enough. I tackled Matthew to the ground and started punch him over and over again. Each punch filled with more rage than the next. He reached up and put his hands on my chest and push with a preternatural strength. My body flew into the air and backwards into the rock cliffs behind me. CC lunged on him next trying to go for his heart. CC picked Matthew up and flew high in to the air with him as they hit each other back and forth then CC, using all of his might threw Matthew to the ground. With a thud Matthew landed leaving a small crater in the ground.

The night seemed to pause again as we collected ourselves standing up and brushing the dirt off. CC had landed next to Bekah making sure she was okay. Ashley was sitting beside Juliet's body and I walked over to them. Ashley cried over top of Juliet. His sobs the only sound in the night. I looked up to Devil's Chair and saw Leslie still hovering above. "It's not over." I whispered. That moment I looked over to see Matthew crawling out of his hole. Bekah flew at him them. Her hands projecting flames trying to collide her fist with Matthew. He seemed to dodge every swing that came his way. CC flung him self into the fight next and I followed. CC and Bekah would throw punches and I would use my powers to either push him into a sharpened rock or fling his body to the ground.

We seemed to be wearing him down when CC misjudged on of his punches. He missed and Matthew's hand went straight threw his chest. Matthew ripped his bloodied hand away and CC fell to the ground his body hitting a rock on the way down. Bekah screamed out in terror as her recent love dissented onto the ground. She flew to him instantly and put her hands on his chest. I knew instantly what she was trying to do and ran over to try to help. I put my hands on CC's chest and tried to heal him. Our hands together glowed a slight golden color over the hole in CC's chest. "Please, stay with me!" Bekah yelled at him and I saw CC"s had move. I was hopeful as he took her arm in his hand but as I looked to his face all that was destroyed. He nodded his head at her and she began to cradle his face and whisper there last good byes to each other.

I looked else were not wanting to interrupt their moment. I looked over to Ashley who was looking around for the gun. I went to him then and noticed something was off. "Ashley?" I asked him, scared. He seemed to not be in control of himself. "Ashley?!" I asked one more time as he picked the gun up. I expected him to point it at me. I stood frozen as his hand moved around the gun. I looked to see Matthew not breaking eye contact with him. He was making him do this. "Ashley you don't have to do this!" I yelled at him. He brought the gun higher up then and placed the barrel against his temple. "What the hell are you doing?" I yelled at him. I looked to Matthew again who was smiling hugely . I moved then to try to pry Ashely's hand away from the gun but as I moved one foot forward Ashley's finger moved and pushed the trigger. Ashley's body fell beside of Juliet's then.

I never knew that I could feel this angry. My eyes went black then, and I could feel the power pulsing inside of my veins. I looked down to see my hand pushing flames out from my palms. I felt the weight of my strength boiling over. I looked at tree near Matthew and watched it as it flew threw the air towards him. He dodged it. I looked at a boulder then and lifted it with my powers a chunk of earth flew with it as Matthew moved with demon speed out of the way. I lifted my hands into the air then and the ground rose in front of me. I shoved the mound of earth in his direction. Matthew rose into the sky then and out of the way. I was fuming. "Why wont you fucking die already?" I yelled and heard my own voice echo with a fantastic loudness. "It's funny, your ancestors asked me the same question." He yelled in his demonic tones. He floated down out of the sky now and landed right behind Bekah. "You see, every life that I take. I get stronger. And the stronger I get... " He reached down and took Bekah by the neck. "...I can kill off your fucking blood line." I moved then, flying across the distance between us. He blocked me by pushing me out of the way again. I flew across the clearing now as I heard Bekah scream out in pain. I looked over to see his hands pushed down on her shoulders making her kneel in front of him. She writhed for a moment before a fire sparked and began to consume her from inside of her own body. She screamed out again before falling into ash that dusted over CC's body.

I looked over to Matthew, he was elated with his progress. "All of this time I was using your little friends to get to you. Oh how I hoped that it was you who had leaned against my tombstone in the cemetery that night, but Andy came along and sat down right beside me. He is a kind soul like everyone had always said. Which those are usually the easiest to manipulate, to eradicate!" I pushed my hands forward and a ball of fire flew threw the air at him. It clipped his should leaving a part of his sleeve on fire but he patted it out before it could burn threw him. "You don't have any right to talk about Andy, or the rest of them." I spat the word at him. "Does it offend you? Did I make fun of your friends too much. I don't think it matters that much now anyways. " He said kneeling down to CC. "I don't think he is feeling that much of anything, let alone hurt feeling." I had had enough. I lunged forward and wrapped my hands around his throat just like in my dream. I dug my nails and tried to prepare my self for what I was wanting to do. In that moment I saw reach his hand up towards the rocks then. I followed his gaze to Leslie.

I had to save her if nothing else. We were going to get out of here alive. Matthew moved his hand slightly and Leslie began to fall from the cliffs like Andy had. I pushed Matthew as hard as I could into the ground before running over there. I tried to make it in time before her body hit the ground below. I held my hand out and tried to stop her. Matthew had to be pushing her down. I reached my arms out further and felt as her body collided with mine. She fell on top of me, as I managed to catch her. I held her close for a moment making sure that she was okay. I pulled her back and looked down at her face just as her eyes began to open. "Where the hell are we? And what happened to you?" She asked looking up at me with her brown eyes. She had no idea what had happened. How was I to explain all of this? Surely by now Matthew was right behind us ready to kill us. "What the hell Jinxx?" She said looking past me. Yep, he was there. I turned around quickly standing up and shielding her from him. I heard Leslie's breath catch as she took in the scene. I felt her power ignite then.

One second she was behind me dowering and the next she was behind Matthew grabbing him by the throat pulling his head back to cut off his windpipes. "What the fuck did you do to these people?" She yelled in his face. Matthew laughed and slipped out of her grip. She began to run onto the rock cliffs again challenging her. She shot a ball of fire , like I did but this time it landed directly on him. I took a second to admire that fact that Leslie was stronger than me, then went to stand beside her. Matthew shot himself into the air and essentially blew the fire out. He landed in front of us and grabbed Leslie by her elbow with a grimace on his face now. It was evident that he was pissed. I followed behind them as I tried to loosen his grip from her. He pulled her down to her knees and I struggled behind him as he kept me away. Matthew reached his hand into the air making his hand into a claw. Leslie struggled to get away. Her eyes black as night, fire shooting up from her hands as she tried to fight back. I was held down to the ground now unable to move. I yelled for Leslie to run, to get away from this. Then with one swipe of his hand, he brought down with such a power and struck Leslie across her throat.

She fell to the ground and her eyes shifted back to brown. I was freed then and I crawled to her side. I held her face in my hands as she struggled to breath. I leant down and kissed her forehead and wiped the hair out of her face as she looked around searching for something. "What is it?" I whispered. She reached her hand out and placed it over mine looking at me one more time. Then she was gone. I felt Matthew walking closer to me then, but I couldn't. There wasn't anything to fight for anymore. I could feel the tears running down my face. I felt the night air rushing cold around me. Felt the snow under me slowly melting. I felt a hand on my back. I looked down to Leslie. "You find me after this. You fucking find me." I cried to her body, hoping that she wasn't too far gone. Then in one motion of Matthew's hand all went dark. I knew I was dead.
