Our faith will silence the doubt

Kathie wiped the tear out of her eye as she looked at Mrs. Sumpter. “I can’t go through with this.” Mrs. Sumpter hugged Kathie and kissed her cheek. “Everything will be fine sweetie.” “You’re not the one getting married.” “I thought you loved my son.” “I do Judith but I know he doesn’t love me. Not like he loves Elizabeth.” Mrs. Sumpter smiled, “I know dear. I wish there was something I could do.” Kathie opened her mouth to say something but was interrupted by her mom’s shouting. “Kathie, are you ready!?” Kathie took a deep breathe. “I am mother.” “Very well, I’ll go on ahead. Mrs. Sumpter can you please make sure my daughter gets to the church safe and sound?” “Of course, Tania I’ll take care of her for you. I’m just giving her some last minute pre-wedding advice.” “How…nice…I’ll see you at the church.” Kathie waited a few minutes until she was sure her mother was gone. She grabbed Mrs. Sumpter’s hand and looked at her, “Please, you have to help me. I can’t get married, not today. Not now, not with Valentin, not when I know that, well not now that I remember who I am.” Mrs. Sumpter looked at her confused. “What do you mean dear?” The door swung opened and Kathie jumped up startled. Had her mom not left, had she heard everything?


Mrs. Pennington looked at her daughter frowning. ¨I can´t believe she insisted on wearing that mask to the wedding.¨ Mr. Davidson looked at his wife. ¨Can you blame her? She´s been crying an awful lot, her face must be swollen. It´ll be best this way.¨ Mrs. Pennington leaned closer to what the priest was saying. ¨Can´t he talk a bit louder? I can hardly hear what he´s saying.¨ Mr. Davidson frowned, ¨Calm down Tania, he´s old. Give him some credit.¨ ¨I can´t even hear him say Kaili´s name!¨ ¨Calm down, the important thing is that Kaili and Valentin can hear it.¨ Kaili nodded and Mrs. Pennington managed to hear the I do that she choked out. Mrs. Pennington grinned, finally she´s married. Now there´s no way anyone can take her away from me. The priest looked at the shocked Valentin as he repeated what he had just said to Kaili. About a minute passed and the crowed had gone completely silent. Would Valentin not say I do? Mrs. Pennington stared at Valentin as she furiously whispered his name. ¨Valentin! Say I do!¨ Valentin looked at Mrs. Pennington then at Kaili as his eyes started to water. He suddenly grinned like a fool, ¨I do.¨ The priest smiled in relief, ¨I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride.¨ Valentin stroked Kaili´s cheek and he cupped her chin in his hand as he leaned down. He closed his eyes and felt fireworks go off as his lips met hers. The crowd cheered.
Kathie looked at Valentin as he grabbed his hand. “I’m sorry Valentin.” “It’s no problem.” “I know you rather be with her and not with me.” “Will you stop saying that? Everything will be okay. Just calm down let’s just do what we have to.” Kathie nodded and followed Valentin into the ball room where the party was being held at, Kathie had changed into a more comfortable dress, the second dress of the night. “There she is, my daughter Kaili Pennington of Sumpter!” Kathie walked down the stairs holding on to Valentin. “Here we go.” “Yes, here we go.” Kathie was surrounded by a bunch of masked people making a pathway for her and Valentin. They are cheered and congratulated her. Kathie wanted to be anywhere but here. Her eyes stopped as she got to a guy with yet black hair. She smiled at him and he smiled back. They continued to walk until they got to the main table where the bride and groom should go along with the parents. “Please sit down the first dance will start in a few minutes. Let us give the new married couple some space and some time to prepare.”
Kaili smiled at Valentin. “Ready for our first dance together?” Valentin smirked, “Are you kidding me, of course!” They walked into a spare room and started to get changed. The door swung open and Angela smiled. Her eyes suddenly widened and she slapped the door shut. “Gosh you could have told me you two were getting dressed!” Kaili stared at her, “You could have knocked first!” Angela shrugged, “Not the point right now. There have been some changes in the choreography.” Angela stopped and stared at Valentin who was standing in front of Kaili protectively. “Dude, I’m a girl, and her best friend, I’ve seen her dress in the girl’s locker room no need to be a gentlemen and protect her. I think you should be the one putting some pants on.” Valentin blushed and quickly ran into the bathroom to keep getting changed leaving the door open. “What changes?” Angela smiled at Kaili. “We have a major choreography. It’s a bit bigger than the original, but it’s going to be freaking splendid!” Valentin walked back to them putting his shirt on. “Why the changes?” Angela shrugged not looking at him she didn’t want to see him freaking shirtless! “Your mom and your cousins’ thought about it.” “Wait what?” “Stop asking questions, I’ll just give you the main details.” Kaili shook her head after Angela ran out of breathe from trying to explain everything as fast as she could. “What about my surprise?” Valentin looked at her confused. “What surprise?” Kaili smiled at him, “If I tell you, it won’t be a surprise.” “You mean she-” “Shh! The walls have ears.” Valentin nodded. “Okay then. When do we start?” Angela helped zip Kaili’s dress up. “Ten minutes. You’re going to love it Kaili!”
