Our faith will silence the doubt

My husband.” James heard a man chuckling. “I’m a lot of people.” “Well who exactly are you then, are you Dave, or Robert, the man I contracted to kill Dave Parker?” “You never actually told me what Dave Parker did for you to want him dead.” James felt the hairs on his arms rise as he heard Tammy’s laugh. “He wasn’t very fund of the idea of drugging Zoey, of erasing her memory little by little.” “He knew what it would do to her.” “He knew better than anyone what that would do to her.” “And you where okay with that?” “Zoey had been such a good girl all of her life. We managed to erase her memory before when we killed the Sterling family. I don’t know why he wasn’t okay with the idea now.” “Could it be because one dose of that drug wasn’t enough to erase her memory now? You know what will happen if you continue to do this right?” “I know exactly what that means Robert. That’s all part of my plan.” “You want to blame him for her death.” “You’re smart Robert. That’s right I’ll keep drugging Zoey as much as I can. The drug may be too much for her at some point and she will be overdosed, that or if she stops taking it she could go mad. It’s an addiction to her now; she can’t last long without it. Two months tops and she will die one way or another. When that happens Valentin will be blamed for the death of her wife; I already have someone working at his house that will help me make it so that he was the one drugging her. After that his family will lose their money and it will all go to me.” “You mean us, right?” “Yes it will go to us. It’s a shame Dave Parker didn’t like my idea. He loved that girl too much. He actually thought of her as a real daughter. Pathetic that was his weakness. And you know what they say Robert; your weakness may be the death of you.”

James couldn’t believe what he had just heard! Tammy had killed Dave Zoey’s dad. “Come on we have to get packing. Our flight leaves in three hours you know I hate being late.” James jumped up startled as he heard a loud bang. A baseball came flying into the window in the basement. “It looks like we have a rat in the house Robert. Do you mind taking care of it?” James froze in place. Kaili looked at herself in the full length mirror. The dress was beautiful without a doubt, but this wasn´t her. She wondered how long she had been living this lie. She hadn’t really picked it though. Her mom had arrived by surprise before her flight to Tokyo left and picked the dress out. The dress was long and silky with the back uncovered and long sleeves. It was simple and pretty. But it just wasn’t her style. She looked at herself once more, what was her style then? She frowned at her burnet hair. It was so simple. But her mom had insisted on dying it at least for the wedding. “Dennis…” Kaili closed her eyes letting one single tear fall. She would never get to marry him like she had planned. She hadn’t even had the chance to say goodbye. She didn’t even have his number! Blu had promised she would try to get in touch with him, but she didn’t have a response yet. Everything was going all wrong! Her mom had made some drastic last minute changes. The wedding was moved to Tokyo 7 days before it was to be held. The guest of course had all been confused and her mom had been oddly kind when she bought the ticket switch for them. Kaili’s mom had taken her phone away without her even knowing and now she had no way of knowing about Blu. Kaili felt her head was about to explode. This was too much and too weird. What was her mom thinking?

“Are you ready Kaili?” Kaili looked at her mom threw the mirror. “I can’t do this.” “Of course you can.” “I-I don’t think I feel too well mother. I need a minute to think.” “Well don’t think too much we only have three hours until the wedding starts.” “Mom, I can’t do this. I can’t do this to Valentin. He doesn’t love me.” “That doesn’t matter dear. I thought we made it clear when we set this wedding up that love wasn’t something that mattered here.” “Don’t you understand what you’re doing? You’re not only ruining my life, you’re ruining his!” “That’s enough Kaili I’m not having this discussion with you. Not now, not when I’m so close to getting what I want.” “It’s always been what you want hasn’t it? Everything is always about you. You don’t care about me, about dad, about anyone. All you care is about your damn self! How could you be so damn heartless?” Kaili saw something go through her mother’s eyes at that moment that scared her. It was madness. “I’m the heartless one? Look at what you’ve made me do!” “What are you talking about you’re doing this on yourself! I have nothing to do with your crazy decisions. I’m not going through with this. I’m almost twenty years old now mother. I’m capable of making my own decisions. You have no control over me anymore.” Kaili fell to the ground as he mother’s hand made impact with her cheek. Kaili felt the hot tears falling down her face. Kaili screamed as she felt her hair was about to be pulled out of her scalp. “Look at me!” Kaili started into her mother’s eyes. “I will always have control over you Zoey Parker. If you ever think of disobeying me again you will be sorry for it the rest of your life. Do you hear me!?” Kaili tried not to smile. “What did you just call me?” Kaili stared at her as she felt her mom’s grip on her hair loosen. “Did you just call me Zoey Parker?”
