"Here is the happy couple!" My uncle Lopez yelled as i and Kelvin stepped into the backyard of my grandparents summer house.

I walked into the kitchen grabbing the bowl my sister eyeing me impassively. "Its freaking fifty degrees outside and you are wearing a long sleeve vest and jeans, why?"

"Its nothing. For me its cold." I laughed nervously brushing a strand of my blonde hair back. "Get the pepper and salt please."

Samantha cornered me and grabbed my wrist rolling up my sleeve. "What is this?"

"I.. uh burned myself." Lowering my head in shame. "Mistake."

"No, this is no fucking burn." She snapped lifting up my vest seeing my body covered in purple bruises. She gasped stepping back. "Please tell me its cause you worked out and fell not that he-"

"Don't tell the family okay." I pleaded. "Please, if he finds out you know, he will-"

"Kill you?" She asked with a pout. "Huh? I am gonna kick his ass."

"We have been together since high-school. We love each other. I got this under control okay. Please just don't tell anyone."

"You better do something before he really kills you!" She warned walking away from me leaving me with tears in my eyes.

"What is he doing here!" My sister bellowed marching to him not before Andy gripped her by the collar haling her back. "But.."

"Keep calm." He warned. "Now Samantha be a good little girl and do not try to push in the pool. Trust me i want to kill him as much as you do. But we can't cause a scene."

"Andrew's right." I whispered grabbing his hand. "lets be cool about this alright."

She groaned and walked away towards the pool pushing her cousin Matt in the pool by principle knowing my sister she had to throw someone in the pool even if its not Kelvin. "Wow you are not dating even for a month and he is here." Kelvin John interjected. "Maxine see you are wearing a something the weather is suited for."

"Well i could not exactly parade in bruises while i was with you." I snapped as Andy's hand tightened around me. "What are you doing here?"

"I have been your boyfriend for over ten years i am part of the family now. You sure fit in." He snapped turning to Andrew.

Andy remained silent as his body was raging through hell. "Andrew my boy." My grandfather came to the rescue."Why don't you come tell Nana about the trip you took to Mexico. Maxine help grandma prepare her famous pea salad."

"Of course." I looked up to Andy with a small smile.

"Go. i can handle him." His lips touched mine slowly giving me a deep kiss. I turned back to Kelvin who has an anger expression on his face, the same face he always made when he was about to throw something at me, or hit me. Or a matter of fact rape me. I gave a nod and walked in directly towards the cabinet. Grabbing a bottle of whiskey i popped the cap gulping the thing till i could not feel my sadness anymore.
