A New Beginning
Chapter 4
The bell rang for lunch. I walked to my locker to grab my banana. I'm wired, I eat fries and a banana at lunch. I just really like bananas and I always forget to pack two so I buy fries. Anyways, I'm so, so nervous about sitting with Ashley and Andy. My hands are sweating really bad. I need to make an appointment to get the damn nerves blocked in them so I don't have that problem. Ugh, I got strange problems. I call my hands mini waterfalls.
Before I enter the cafeteria I take a deep breath and put a smile on my face. I try to calm down and wipe my hands on my pants. I enter and see them right away. They're sitting at one of the round tables in the corner, alone. Yay, hopefully none of the fan girls Ashley mentioned sit by us. They can sit with them some other time. I just really want to get to know some of my heroes. I stride over to them, making sure I don't trip, and checking my breath. My breath smells fine, and so far I haven't tripped.
I sit down a crossed from them. "Hi guys." I say with a bright smile. I set my purse in my lap and bounce my foot up and down. It's a nervous tick. "Hey!" They say together. Andy points to my banana. "Is that all your eating? I got money if you need some." I laugh, I can't believe he'd pay for me. "Oh no thank you, I'm just not that hungry today." He smiles and lifts one eyebrow. "You sure?" I roll my eyes. "Yes, I'm sure." Ashley nudges him. Andy grunts and looks at him. Ashley has a sly smirk on his face as he wiggles his eyebrows. Andy lightly slaps him and they turn back to me. "So, tell me about yourself Kara." Ashley asks me. I shift in my seat. "Like what?" He shrugs. "Anything that comes to mind."
"Well, I'm a writer. I'm working on two books right now. Ones a romance/thriller, and the other is a whole bunch of genres combined. Um, I've been learning how to play guitar for about a year now, and I know how to play the violin. I want to get as good as Jake and Jinxx one day. Ummmmmm, I like bananas. What about-" I stop talking as I see Brad coming towards our table in the corner of my eye. Oh. Shit.
"Hey ugly, how are you doing?" I glare at him and grunt. "Go away Brad I don't want to talk to you." He totally ignores what I said and starts talking. "Ashley I told you about this bitch. Why are you sitting with this waste of space." Ashley gives him the evil eye and clears his throat. "You have no right to talk to her like that, now get the hell out of here." Brad shakes his head and crosses his arms. "Not until I'm done talking to this bitch." He turns to me and walks a little closer. "So you think you found some friends, huh?" He waits for a response he's never going to get. "No one likes you, they probably just feel bad for your sorry-" But before he could finish Andy stands up and walks over to him. "Don't you dare say that to her! Ashley and me are her friends now. And, if I ever hear you talk to her like that again-" Ashley walks over by Andy's side and interrupts. "We're going to hold you down and let Kara kick you in the balls so hard you'll have to get them amputated off." Andy and Ashley high five. Brad gives me a dirty look and goes back to his table.
I can't even begin to believe what just happened. My heroes stuck up for me. MY CRUSHES STUCK UP FOR ME! Oh wow, and Andy and Ashley said they're my friends. MY FRIENDS! Oh wow, I feel this extreme happiness right now. I don't think I've felt this nice in my life. They sit back down and look at me. "What was that about?" Andy asks me. I look at Ashley and he looks at me. "Um, he um, he-" I don't know how to put this. "He and his friends bully me. I'm kind of embarrassed about it. That whole situation this morning was because he took my backpack and hid it somewhere in the school. I had tripped and fell and I just felt so depressed I didn't even want to get back up."
Andy sighed and reached for my hand. "If you want me to I'm more then happy to kill him." I smiled and looked at our hands. "No, you don't need to. I think Karma will bite him in the ass one day." Ashley grabs my other hand. "As long as we're friends we won't let those bastards bully you." I lightly laugh, I'm so scared that they might get their hands soaking wet. "Thank you so much. You guys don't have to." Andy lightly stroke my hand with his thumb. "But we want to. I think your a really sweet girl. We might get you a guitar lesson with Jake and Jinxx in the future. Can I, well we, drive you home after school?" I smile at him. "I would love that. Sorry I forgot to tell you I have really bad sweaty hands." They take their hands away. "I didn't mind it." Ashley says. "Me neither." Andy pipes up. I hear the bell ring. "Well I'll see you guys later." I wave and walk off. As I'm leaving I can hear them whispering. "Isn't she hot? Why would she get bullied. I mean, there is nothing wrong with being a bit gothic. She shouldn't get bullied for who she is." Andy says to Ashley. "I know, those green eyes are the huge turn on for me. You don't understand how badly I want to punch out that ass." Andy sighs. "I was so close to it, too."
