A Warrior Of Youth

Chapter Two: First sight

Lissa’s POV

“Melissa! Get up! You have school today! You don’t want to be late!” My mum yelled from the hallway.
The amount of times I have asked her to call me Lissa. I hated being called Melissa.
I sighed and rolled out of bed. Today was going to be horrible.
I showered and quickly dressed in black cut off jean shorts and a red floral tank top. I went into the bathroom and looked at my bare face. My fringe flopped over my left eye and for a moment I thought I saw Benji staring back at me.
“Holy fuck!” I said startled at my reflection. I shook the thought from my mind and focused on doing my make-up.
I rummaged my make-up bag for my eyeliner and growled.
“Benji! Did you borrow my eyeliner again?!” I yelled as I exited the bathroom.
When no one answered I realised I wasn’t going to get one.
My mother stepped into the hall and gave me a sad look.
“It’s okay sweetie. I miss him too” she said sounding like she was going to cry.
I went back into the bathroom and stared at my face in the mirror. This was the closest I would ever get to Benji. He wasn’t going to be there when I needed him. It was just me.
Again, I had to shake the thought from my head before I started crying.

So far, the only good thing about coming to Ohio was that my parents bought me my own shit box car. Basically I would drive it to and from school since I didn’t know anyone in this stupid town. It was an old black beat up Chevy Sonic with 2 doors.
I rolled my eyes as I got into my car. I wasn't sure what would be more embarrassing. Showing up and getting out of my parents car or getting out of this car. As the new kid, I was screwed either way.
Driving into the school parking lot, my car wouldn't stand out. Majority of the cars were small and old.
Getting out of my car the soft breeze blew my long hair out of place. I internally groaned and grabbed my backpack from the passenger seat. I walked into the school and headed for the main office for my class schedule.
I opened the office door and the receptionist greeted me with a friendly smile.
“You must be Melissa Harper. The student coordinator will be with you soon.”
I gave her a small smile and sat down on the chairs provided.
As I waited the door to the principals office door opened and five boys walked out. They all hung their heads, but had cheeky smiles playing on their faces.
"Boys, the school year just began and you've already earned your first detention. You're juniors now, time to act like it!" The principal said before slamming his door.
I cringed at the noise, but the five guys laughed.
"Did you see his face?! Priceless!" The tall one said with a deep voice said.
"I know! I still can't believe he thought the water guns were filled with 'water'" said another with choppy black hair and perfect cheekbones.
I rolled my eyes at them. I saw them give me a look as they passed me, but didn't say anything. One of them gave me a small smile as he exited the office behind the others. He was cute.
"Melissa Harper, the coordinated is ready for you" the receptionist said.
I grabbed my bag off the floor and went into the office on the other side of the desk.
A middle aged women sat behind a small desk on her laptop.
"You must be Melissa" she said.
"Actually its just Lissa" I said correcting her.
"Okay, Lissa. So transfer from Philadelphia. Must be a different coming to a small town from a big city like that. How you finding Ohio?"
"It's okay. Still settling in."
"Hmm, so your transcripts say you were in a music class and we're in advance chem and bio. Impressive. So I'll sign you up to the same classes" she said as she started typing.
"Actually I don't want to do music, could I possibly get into some other class?" Music was more Benji's thing, but I used to do it also. If I were to do it now, I would have a break down.
"I'm sorry, but there are no vacant spots anywhere else. You're gonna have to stick with music" she said handing me my class schedule.
"Thanks" I said flatly and exiting her office.
"Oh and Lissa?" she said as I reached the doorway. "I'm sorry about your brother."
"Thanks, but you didn't know him. You have nothing to be sorry for" I said slinging my bag over my shoulder.
Great, now every teacher is gonna know and they will feel sorry for me. What was the point of moving if I was going to get reminded from everyone?

At lunch I went to go find my locker. So far everyone gave me weird stares and would whisper something to their friend. I wonder what they thought they knew about me. The guys I saw earlier today were like the 'popular's' of the school. Always causing trouble and always copping the blame. Everyone was talking about what they had done to the freshmen. I thought it was just immature.
I found my locker and spun the dial using the combination the receptionist gave me earlier.
"7... 24... 12 - Ow!" I squeaked as someone pushed into me and I crumbled to the ground.
"Oh sorry, didn't see you there" a girl said sarcastically as she walked past with the tall guy from this morning.
"Come on Scout" the guy said as they walked away laughing.
Well this great. I officially rank zero at this school.
"Hey, are you okay?" A guys voice asked.
I turned my head and the guy who smiled at me was standing over me, with a hand extended to me.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Isn't that your friend?" I asked.
"Yeah, ignore Andy. He can be rude sometimes, but Scout is worse. I'm Jake by the way."
"Lissa. I'm new this year" I said taking his hand to pull myself up.
"I know. I saw you in the office this morning. So where you from?"
"Philly" I said turning my attention to opening my locker.
"Cool, so how do you like Ohio?" He asked curiously.
"It sucks so far" I said yanking my locker open and shoving my bag in.
"Oh, fair enough. So what classes do you have later?"
I rolled my eyes. Seriously? Why was this guy talking to me? He barely knows me! If only he knew why I was here.
"Uhh I have music after lunch."
"Me too! Do you play anything?"
"Piano" I said getting annoyed.
"Jakey!" A girl called and ran up to him, cuddling his side.
"Hey Ella" he said wrapping his arm around her.
"Where have you been? I have been looking all over for you. Why are you talking to her?" Ella said giving me a nasty look.
I returned the look to her and shook my head.
"Ella, don't be like that" he said kissing her forehead. "Nice to meet you Lissa. I'll see you later" he said walking away with Ella.
"I was hoping I wouldn't" I muttered under my breath.
He was just another immature dick head.

Notes

Hey guys! Hope you're liking the story so far!
It's still so weird for me to be writing about them in a different context and I different character. I'm still establishing Lissa's personality. For obvious reasons shes anger and sad mostly. but let me know what you're thinking so far! ily guys!

I hate endings too, but all stories must end somewhere. I know it was sad and all that shiz :P but I just thought not all stories have a happy ending. And thank you so much! I'm glad you still like it and dont hate me for killing Lissa. That was hard. I had originally thought for her to commit suicide, but then thought, what if she gets what she wants and goes home, but something as simple and common as a car crash seemed to kind of fit better with the whole being insignificant issue.

I know guys. You probably hate for doing that, but yeah.. if you read above in the other reply I explain my reasons. It just fit. I really wanted to kind of show that the Gandhi quote may be true in a way, but everything you do creates a ripple effect.

@TheOutlawAndAndy!! @bvbchika
Awwwww thank you! I was getting really sad when I wrote the part where Jake finds out.. They had just declared their love for each other again and the most horrific accident happens. I'm glad you like my last bit. I wanted to contradict the Gandhi quote cause not everything is insignificant.

It's weird when all you guys say I'm a good writer. I just get ideas. I don't know how or why, I just do. This is just a creative outlet for me that I love to do.
You guys can read my other stories if you haven't already.. My next story will be a spin off about CC and Kimber.... Already have ideas for them hahah
Thank you so much for commenting guys! I was freaking out when I saw 7 new comments and reading them makes me so happy! So literally, thank you so fucking much! I love you guys :) <3
