Remembering Yesterday

Chapter 4:

Thirty minutes had passed and still no luck. Zoey looked at James her eyes filling with tears. “Maybe this is destiny telling us that it’s not meant to be. I’m not supposed to meet Black Veil Brides.” “Come on Zo, what are you talking about? Destiny can’t tell you shit, because we don’t know a Destiny.” Zoey rolled her eyes and let herself fall on her bed. “This is a serious matter James!” He frowned and looked at his phone. “Don’t give up hope. We’ll see them. Even if it’s only you, I don’t care if I don’t get to meet them, as long as you do, I’m happy.” She couldn’t help but smile at that. James was always so nice to her. She still remembered when he gave her his cupcake when they were six. She hadn’t been able to get a cupcake on time, and they were all gone. James being the sweetie that he was had given her his, and they had split it. “Thanks Jamie. You’ve always been there for me; I don’t know what I would do without you.” James looked at her his face getting all serious, which was funny, because he was hardly serious.

“Well you’d probably always forget your math homework, because it’s the last thing you do, and you always leave it on your computer desk, under piles of drawings you do when you start procrastinating, forgetting about it the next morning, because you were too lazy to put it in your backpack the night before. And you’d forget which class to go, because you easily get distracted, and you just follow the crowed, which is not good. Imagine if they were walking to their deaths, and you’d be walking with them? You should really start paying more attention.” Zoey sat up and looked at her best friend astonished, “Wow, you’re very something, I didn’t even know those things about me. It’s an official fact, without you, I would be dead by now.” James looked at her frowning, “Don’t you think that’s being a bit extreme? It’s partly my fault, for spoiling you so much. If I hadn’t dragged you into class those few days, it wouldn’t have started to be a habit, and you would have eventually started paying attention. The same way with your text book, and your locker combination, and you eating breakfast, and…” “Okay, okay, I get it! Geez!” She let out a soft sigh and smiled, “Still, I think destiny put you in my path and without you I would be a total wreck. I would have probably been in the show fifteen and pregnant, or worse, teen mom.” She made a face of pure horror.

James started laughing like a maniac. “Now that would sure be something. Your kid would be just as spoiled as you are. And there you go with that Destiny stuff again. You know I haven’t really met her but she sounds like a total bitch at times.” Now it was Zoey’s turn to laugh. “Oh shut, up!” She threw a pillow at him, and for the next fifteen minutes or so it turned into a pillow fight, with screaming, laughing, and falling. They stopped whenever they heard the announcers voice, but still not luck.

Zoey grabbed a water bottle from the refrigerator and threw one at James. She opened the bottle and took a huge sip; she inhaled for air, due to her heart rate pumping like a mad from the pillow fight. “I think you like dislocated my brain.” James busted out laughing spilling water everywhere.” “I don’t really think it’s humanly possible!” Zoey couldn’t help but giggle, “Well, it could be!” “I doubt it. But what are you complaining about? I was the one that got bitten!” “Oh come on! It was not that bad.” He held his arm towards her and pointed at the bite marks on his forearm. “You managed to make me bleed a little. I was attacked by a vampire!” “You are such a baby!” “Well sorry for wanting to keep being human.” “Let’s go upstairs before the commercial are over. It’s out last chance to win, come on.” She ran up the stairs nearly falling but catching herself and flying into her room. “BVB army.” Zoey jumped onto her phone and clicked the number one button then waited. She saw James with his phone near his ear.

“And we have our last winner. Lucky winner what’s your name?” “Allison Creel. I was just calling for…” “For the contest, yes we know.” “Contest, what contest?” “Didn’t you call for the giveaway for the Black Veil Brides concert?” Zoey looked at James and saw his eyes were wide open. “Black Veil Brides, ah yes, I’ve heard about them. Tickets you say?” “Yes we are giving away double passes for the concert. And you’re the last winner to enter and win. That is…if you’re entering the contest?” “Yes, that sounds good. I’ll enter, what do I have to do?” “Well Miss Allison you’ll be the last lucky winner to go see Black Veil Brides in concert if you can answer this simple question: What is one of the songs of their album, Set The World On Fire?” A sneeze was heard and then Allison’s voice “God, Bless you.” “Correct! Congratulations Miss Allison you’ve just one two double tickets to the Black Veil Brides concert next Friday at eight pm. Please don’t hang up someone will tell you where to go to pick your tickets up.” James jumped up startled as he heard Zoey yell. “You have got to be kidding me! Allison, Allison? How could Allison have won the tickets? She doesn’t even like the band! How in the world, why is God so cruel! She didn’t even know the answer; she just said that because someone sneezed. Ugh!” James frowned as he sat on the bed. “You’re right. She said she hated the band because they were just a bunch of emo suicidal kids who knew nothing about good music.” “Then why James, why did she call, why did she win!?” He shrugged and pulled her close. “I don’t know sweetie. Life isn’t always fair.” He rubbed her back as she started to cry.

Zoey felt as if her heart had been shattered beyond repair. She still remembered the night she first heard a song by Black Veil Brides. She had been sad, because she had lost a cheerleading match. James was browsing through the web, and that’s when she heard their song Knives and Pens start to play. At first she’d thought it was annoying, the way the song started, with the guitar and the drums. It seemed it would be just another song with the lead singer screaming endlessly. But that’s when she heard his voice. She had looked up from her pillow and saw him. Andy Biersack. His icy blue eyes, his smile, and his voice; it was like he was telling a story, a story about him. She felt his words striking her like arrows. She later found out he wrote the lyrics to his songs. That’s when she fell in love with the band. The lyrics were wonderful, the singing, the drum playing, everything about the band was great to her. She saw interviews and saw that the guys were all very mellow. It’s like the fame didn’t get to their heads, and she liked that. They weren’t total jerks to their fans, like a lot of singers. They joked around, acted like normal people, not snobby, rich famous people. She wanted to meet them, and she had made it her life goal.
