Remembering Yesterday

“No! You no take her!” Andy repeated the words Zoey had heard in her first dream his eyes filling with tears. “She laughed then and said she would never let you have me; that I wouldn’t taint you with my darkness. I knew I was hurting you while I tried to pull her away but when you looked at me with those big scared eyes I knew that you didn’t even feel the pain; that you didn’t want me to let go. I screamed at her again to let you go but she laughed and said that she would never let me have you. And that’s when she hit me. I’m still not sure what it was with. I fell on the ground hitting my head and I still remember your hand reaching out towards me as she ran out the door with you.” Zoey wiped Andy’s tears away and hugged him. “You couldn’t do anything Andy. We were both just kids.” Andy let out a heavy sigh, “I know. But all these years I’ve had hope. Hope that you would still be alive and that I would find you some day. And here you are fifteen years later unharmed.” Zoey looked at him at Dennis, her Denny, her savior, her warrior. He hugged her tightly and she hugged him back her heart filling with joy. And they stayed like that hugging each other knowing that nothing could ever come between them, because they had found each other again.


“So what’s the plan?” Jinxx yawned and looked out the window. It was almost five in the morning; they had been on the road for about three hours. “I think we’re almost in Colorado.” Andy looked at Zoey who was asleep right next to him, her head on his lap. “Good. Traffic isn’t heavy yet, we should be there by six, seven at the latest. We’ll stop there and get another car, grab a bite to eat, then head back out. We have to get to Cali as soon as possible.” “What then?” Andy let out a soft sigh. “I don’t know. Maybe we can get on a cruise ship and be on there for a few months, at least until we think of something else.” CC walked to the front of the RV a towel around his waist. Andy stared at him. CC looked at him yawning, “What?” “Tell me you’re wearing boxers underneath.” CC smirked. Jinxx rolled his eyes, “Come on man, have some respect, there’s a girl on this RV for crying out loud!” CC frowned, “She’s asleep! I just needed some fresh air, this is a very never wrecking situation we’re in.” Andy played with Zoey’s hair then looked at CC, “Put some clothes on.” CC let out a soft sigh, “Fine.” Andy smiled, “Thanks.” He picked Zoey up and tried to keep his balance. She was heavier than she looked. “Need any help?” Andy shook his head smiling at Jake, “Thanks though. We’re going to head to bed.” Jake nodded as he laid on the other side of James. “Alright, I’ll just chill here for a while longer. I’ll tell you if anything happens.” Andy looked at Jinxx, “You coming?” Jinxx shook his head, “Nah, I gotta call my little doll.” “Make sure not to tell her too much.” “Don’t worry about it. She’s on the road as well, on her way to visit her mom. She figured she’d be safest there.” Andy frowned, “I think you should go with her.” He looked at Jake, “I think you should all go. I don’t want you guys in this mess. Zoey’s mom is crazy, if she tried to kill James, I know she’ll try to kill me too.” Jinxx laughed, “No way! We’re not leaving you.” Jake nodded, “We’re a family, and we’re in this together.” CC walked to him smiling, “We’re a fucking Army for crying out loud! We can take a crazy bitch down.” Ashley walked out of the bathroom half asleep. “We are the Black Veil Brides!” Andy chuckled and looked at his friends. They really were a family.
