Remembering Yesterday

Chapter 9

James grabbed the tickets and handed them to Zoey not daring to look at her face. “What’s this?” She flipped the tickets over and her eyes widened. They were two VIP passes to see Black Veil Brides. Zoey looked at James and he smiled. She threw her arms around him as tears started to fall. “Why didn’t you tell me!?” “Well, we weren’t really on speaking terms. And I knew you wouldn’t let me do it if I told you.” “James, this was not worth what you did. Do you know how much people are going to be bothering you?” He shrugged, “I don’t care, as long as your happy.” Zoey felt like a complete bitch then. James had done this only for her, he knew he would face years of humiliation with what he had just done, but he hadn’t cared. “Thanks James, you’re the best.”

Zoey ran into her house. “Mom, dad!!!” She ran into the living room and found no one. “Mom, dad!!” Mrs. Parker walked out of the kitchen, “What is it?” “You will not believe this! Is dad home?” Mr. Parker walked down stairs. “What is it, sweet?” “I’m going to see Black Veil Brides in concert!!” Her mom looked at her confused, “Who?” Zoey looked at her dad astonished, “Can you believe her? Dad, tell me you know who I’m talking about.” “Umm, that band you have blasting full volume when we tell you to clean your room?” “Gee dad, you could be a bit more enthusiastic!” “You aren’t serious right?” Mrs., Parker looked at her daughter frowning. “Why would I be kidding about something as awesome as this?” “Dave, would you please say something? You know how I feel about that band.” Zoey looked at her mom surprised, “What do you mean, that band!?” “I can’t believe we even let you listen to it in the first place. Their music, the screaming, it makes no sense at all.” “It makes a lot of sense, if you would just listen to the words, and stop listening to your stupid friends.” “I don’t think I like you talking to me like that.” “Well I don’t think I like the way you express yourself about the music I like.” “You’re not going.” “What do you mean I’m not going? Do you know how much I’ve been waiting for this!? The tickets, do you know how hard James worked for those tickets. If only you knew what he did to get them, in what situation he had to put himself into!” “I don’t care what James did. If he wants he can go, but you’re not going.” Zoey looked at her dad on the verge of tears. “Dad, please, talk to her! You know how much I love the band, you know how long I’ve been waiting for this opportunity!” Mr. Parker looked at his wife frowning. “Don’t look at me like that Dave, she’s not going!” “You can’t do this to me mom! I have good grades.”

“I said you’re not going. And I don’t want to keep having this conversation with you!” Zoey stared at her mom. “I can’t believe you! How could you do this to me? You know how much I love this band; you know how long I’ve been waiting for this. This has been one of my biggest dreams for years! Mom, you can’t do this to me, please!!” Mrs. Parker walked back into the kitchen. “Dinner will be done soon.” Zoey ran upstairs, “I’m not hungry!!” Zoey ran into her room tears falling down her face. “She can’t do this to me, she just can’t!” She quickly called James and told him everything. “What are you going to do then?” She looked around her room thinking. That’s when she saw the pep rally poster on her bathroom door. “I got an idea. And you’re going to help me.” “What do I have to do?” “I need you to be my partner in crime.” “What crime?” “Chill, James, I’m not going to tell you to kill anyone. But you’re going to help me. I’m going to sneak out.”
