Bullets in a Music Box

Meeting Andy's Parents [[Part One]]

A thousand and one thoughts ran through my head at lightening speed as I ran back and forth through the house, cleaning and getting it ready for tonight. My nerves were shot and I was slightly scared. Andy decided it was a good idea to invite both of his parents to LA to meet me and have a little vacation, and that fact is freaking me out. I sat down on the couch and put my head in my hands. As I sat there in the silence, I realized how dumb I was acting. Andy’s parents aren’t going to care if the house is messy, I think they almost half expect it since their son is a touring artist. But at the same time, I want to prove to them that just because both of us are musicians and tour, we can still act like adults. A groan left my mouth as I keeled over onto the couch and shoved my face into the cushion. Andy was gone getting his parents from the airport and I was alone.

After a few minutes I sat back up and looked at the clock, 2:10. Shit, Andy’ll be back soon. I climbed off the couch and ran up the stair quickly. I need to shower and make myself look presentable. As I walked into the room, my phone began ringing in my pocket. I grabbed it and answered it before looking at who it was.

“Hello,” I answered as I began grabbing clothes to wear.

“Hey, what are you doing?” I heard Andy ask.

“I am currently getting ready to take a shower, why?” I asked.

“Could you possibly run to the store and get a case of beer and something for dinner?” He asked.

“Have they not landed yet?” I asked.

“Nope, the flight was delayed like three hours because of a storm in Ohio. So I’m stuck waiting in the airport for them,” he explained and I smiled.

“I guess I can do that. But I am showering first, cause I smell like cleaning products and I’d rather smell like coconuts,” I said to him as I walked into the bathroom and began running the water.

“I’d rather you smell like coconuts as well. But, yes, get beer and food for dinner. And by the way, my parents are really excited to meet you,” he said.

“I would think so, since you talk to them every day about me and I never get to hear their response, I just have to make it up in my head based on your response to their response,” I said.

“It’s not just that, they are following you on twitter and see everything that I post about you and what you post about me. So they know we love each other,” he said quietly and I smiled.

“Well, we will see how much they like me later, but right now, I am going to take a shower. And as much as I know you’d love to listen to me shower, I’m going to hang up on you,” I smiled into the phone and he laughed out loud.

“Fine, but later tonight, we may have to be a little frisky,” he chuckled.

“Nope. Not when your parents are in the house. Hell no, I’d rather not put that impression on them,” I said.

“Sadee, my parents won’t care,” he said.

“Too bad, you can wait a week till they go back to Ohio,” I said with a smirk as I pulled off my clothes.

“You are a party pooper,” I could tell he was pouting.

“I know. Love ya, but I’m hanging up,” I chuckled and ended the call. As I climbed into the shower and the warm water hit me, my muscles immediately relaxed. I did my business and climbed back out of the shower and wrapped a towel around my torso and another around my hair. Then I walked out into the bedroom and began to dry off and get dressed. When I was all dressed, I looked around the room and bit the inside of my cheek. The room is a mess. As I stood there, I heard my phone ringing in the bathroom. Must’ve forgotten it in there. I walked back into the bathroom and grabbed my phone and answering it.

“Yellow,” I said and sat on the counter.

“Hey Sade-ster. So, I have this question for you,” I heard Zara said.

“Shoot,” I said and she cleared her throat.

“Me and Christian are going out on the town tonight and I am not very girly and I don’t know what to wear. Can you come over and help me?” She said it all really fast and I raised my eyebrows.

“Um, what?” I said after a few seconds.

“Can you come and help me be girly?” She asked.

“Well, I would, but I have already been asked to grab beer and dinner food for Andy’s parents tonight,” I said.

“Oh shit, I forgot that was happening. Shouldn’t they be there by now?” She asked.

“Their flight was delayed by three hours cause of some storm in Ohio. But, if I get the stuff now, I can possibly pop over and help you quickly before Andy gets back with his parents,” I said.

“Oh my god, I would love you forever and ever and ever Sadee!” She exclaimed and I smiled.

“Are you nervous to go out on the town with Coma?” I asked.

“Maybe,” she said quietly and I laughed.

“It’s okay to be nervous, this is the first actual time you guys have had together since you started going out. I was the same way with Andy in the beginning,” I said as I pulled on my shoes and grabbed my keys before leaving the house with the phone held between my ear and my shoulder.

“I do not believe that at all. You guys were like a perfectly synchronised machine when I met you two,” she said.

“Zara, by the time we met, Andy and I had been going out for like five months,” I told her and she remained quiet.

“When you get here, my brother Ryan is going to be here,” she said after a few seconds.

“Okay? Is he cool?” I asked.

“Of course he is. If he wasn’t, he wouldn’t be living with me,” she said and then I heard a male voice in the background.

“No Ryan, you cannot talk to Sadee,” she said and I chuckled.

“You guys are kinda adorable,” I commented as I stopped the car in a parking spot at the market.

“Thank you!” She exclaimed.

“Well, I’m at the market, and I’d rather not be seen by people, so I’m gonna hang up now,” I told her and she made a noise.

“Alright, I guess I’ll see you soon then,” she said and then hung up. I rolled my eyes as I sat in the car. A sigh left my mouth as I grabbed my sunglasses, put them on, and climbed out of the car. Andy and his dad better like whatever beer I choose. As I walked into the store the greeter, who was around my age maybe like a year younger, stared at me without saying anything. Then it clicked in his head and he smiled.

“You’re Sadee Christian,” he smiled.

“I am,” I smiled and he kept staring at me.

“Would it be weird if I asked for an autograph and a picture?” He asked. Of course I was noticed, these damn sunglasses do nothing.

“Not at all, but is it okay with your boss if you do?” I asked.

“It’s fine, a lot of famous people shop here and he doesn’t care,” he said and I shrugged before walking up next to him, took off my sunglasses and posed with a smile. He held his phone out in front of us and took the picture. Then he took out a sharpie from his shirt and handed me his phone and the sharpie.

“Sign my phone case?” He asked. It was a clear iPhone 6 case. I shrugged before signing it quickly.

“Thank you. And I’m really excited to hear your EP,” he said.

“Oh, thanks. But I do have a question for you, as a worker,” I said.

“Go for it,” he said.

“Where’s the beer?” I asked. He chuckled and pointed to a sign.

“Aisle 9, half way down on the right side,” he smiled and I nodded.

“Thank you so much!” I smiled at him before putting my sunglasses back on and walking to the aisle and scanning the beers that were there. One of them popped out at me because it was the one Andy got all the time. I grabbed a case of it and walked further down to find something to make for dinner. I’m kinda craving broccoli and chicken. I could make some sort of bake thing. As I walked to the meat department, a few people stopped walking and stared before continuing what they were doing. I am going to have to get used to that.

Once I had everything all picked out, I walked to the front to pay. As I went through the line, the cashier got this big smile on her face.

“Oh my god, you’re Sadee Christian,” she was on the verge of tears. Shit, we have a crier.

“I am, um, how are you?” I asked.

“I’m good. I love your song Where I Belong, it’s so pretty,” she said.

“Thank you, did you go to any of the shows on the tour?” I asked.

“I went to the last one here in LA. I was in the front row,” she smiled as she began to ring up the items.

“Did you enjoy it?” I asked.

“A lot. I loved when you brought Andy out on stage to sing The Day You Left,” she smiled big and I chuckled.

“Well, he did sing it on the recorded track so, I figured, why not?” I chuckled and she smiled as she finished ringing up the items.

“Your total is $51.33,” she said and I handed her my credit card. As she ran it through she looked at me.

“Are you going to be doing any shows in the near future?” She asked.

“Not really. My band and I are going into the studio soon to record the EP we’ve been talking about, but if we do end up having a show, I’ll tweet about it and put it on our Facebook page,” I smiled and she nodded.

“Have a nice day!” She exclaimed as I grabbed my bags and walked away. I waved and left the building. Now to Zara’s apartment.

When I pulled up to the building of Zara’s apartment, I saw her sitting outside on the grass, staring at her amazing view of the Pacific. I got out of the car and walked up to her.

“Come on Zar! We gotta do this fast, Andy’ll be back to the house with his parents and I have to cook shit,” I shook her shoulders and she smiled.

“I’m coming, calm your tits,” she exclaimed as she stood up from the ground and we walked into her apartment. On the couch in the living room was a guy who I think was Ryan.

“Sadee, this is Ryan. Ryan this is Sadee,” Zara introduced us.

“Nice to meet you,” he didn’t even get up off of the couch.

“Come on Sadee, let’s go make me girly,” she said and I followed her to her bedroom, which was a mess.

“Damn girl, you are a messy, messy person,” I laughed as I sat down on her bed.

“Shut it, I know,” she said from the closet. “I was thinking of wearing a dress, but I’m not sure.”

“What dress?” I asked. I heard her shuffling around in there before she walked out with like five dresses in her arms.

“One of these,” she set them down and I shuffled through them.

“Are you going to dinner? Or just walking around LA?” I asked.

“Both I think,” she said.

“So you need something fancy but comfortable to walk in. Which means these two dresses are out of the question, but one of these three will work,” I told her. “Are you going to the beach?”

“I don’t know,” she shrugged.

“Am I going to have to call Coma?” I asked. She stared at me with these innocent, puppy dog eyes. I groaned before pulling out my phone and dialing CC’s number. After a few rings he answered.

“What’s up Sadee?” He asked.

“I have an important question involving your little date thing with Zara tonight,” I said.

“Okay?” He seemed wary.

“Are you going to be at the beach at all?” I asked.

“Possibly,” he said.

“Coma, give me a straight answer. Zara and I need to figure out what she’s wearing and I am on a time restriction cause Andy is at the airport getting his parents,” I told him and he chuckled.

“Fine, jeez. I was planning on taking her to dinner and then going to a small little concert at a bar then walking around downtown, no beach,” he said.

“Okay, thank you. That is all I needed,” I smiled and he chuckled.

“Have fun meeting Chris and Amy,” he continued to laugh.

“Shut it before I climb through this phone and strangle you,” I said and he laughed more.

“They aren’t that bad Sadee, calm down. They are pretty chill,” he said.

“I know, but it’s still nerve wracking to meet the parents of your other half,” I said.

“True,” he said.

“Well, I’m hanging up on you now so I can help Zara finish her outfit,” I said and then hung up.

“So?” She asked. I took one dress away and it left two.

“Pick your poison,” I told her and she stared for a second before pointing to the black and white one. I smiled and she smiled back.

“Do you need anything else?” I asked.

“Shoes!” She exclaimed and ran into her closet, almost tripping over her pile of clothes.

“You might want to clean this up before you die,” I chuckled and she peeked back out of the closet.

“Shut it,” she disappeared again before walking out with a bunch of shoes in her arms.

“I don’t know which pair would match,” she said. I scanned them and one pair popped out at me.

“These,” I grabbed them and she smiled.

“You are a life saver Sadee, like seriously,” she said and I smiled again. If only she knew that doing this was helping me not be so nervous for tonight. I’m excited to meet Chris and Amy, but I want to make a good impression on them. Meeting parents has never been my forte.

Notes

Hey there readers. Long time no see. Um, I have a legitimate excuse this time, I promise. So, you guys know I'm in college right? If you didn't, now you do. Well the spring semester started on Feb 4, and well, I didn't realize that the classes I took were reading intensive classes, so I literally have no time during the week to write, at all. So I have decided that I will be able to update this story at least once a week, on Friday night or Saturday. So sorry for the two week wait for this. I was also tossing around ideas of what to write about.

In this chapter it is all Sadee, but the next one is gonna be cute and possibly talk about the future of Sadee and Andy. ((Someone should come up with a ship name for them))But anyways, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. I have a few more ideas for this so yeah. But I am telling you that I am going to be writing a sequel, what it's about, I have no idea yet, well I have a small idea, but it needs work. So yes, when I decide to end this, which I hope won't be until at least April, you will have a sequel, threequel? to look forward to! I can tell you that the next one will focus a lot on Falling For Fatality and Evanston. But of course it'll have Andy in it. But I am still in the works of developing the idea.
