Bullets in a Music Box

Bristol, England

The building was basically silent, only the sounds of the crew members setting up the stage for my set could be heard. I walked across the floor of the stage and smiled. The room was relatively large, but not at the same time. My hands were wrapped around my lanyard and tugging on it. I bit the inside of my lip and kept looking. Today is gonna be busy. First there's sound check, which is going to suck. Then it's meet and greet, which I get to take part in. I get my own time with the fans and my own little Q&A session. Then it's my set. Thankfully I have had four cups of coffee and one and a half monsters today. From behind me, I heard a few footsteps and then a few voices.

"Alright, let's get this damn sound check over with," I heard Zara say and then she hit her drums.

"Zara, hit a few times on each drum and wait for my signal to continue," I heard a sound tech say. I walked over to side stage and grabbed my ear pieces. Another sound tech, my sound tech Amanda, was standing there futzing with the levels.

"Alright, tell me how this is," she said and then I heard loud screeching.

"Stop, I am going deaf," I said and she turned it off.

"I can't figure out this damn technology," she said.

"Aren't you a sound tech?" I asked.

"I am, yes, but this shit is European and I don't understand it. Tom!" She yelled and then one of Black Veil Brides sound techs walked over.

"Yeah?" He asked.

"Can you figure this out?" Amanda asked and he chuckled before grabbing the controls and changing a few levels before handing me a mic.

"Try it out," he said. I turned on the mic and said a few words.

"It sounds a little airy," I said. He nodded and changed something before nodding to me. I said more words and smiled.

"Perfect," I said and pulled them out of my ears and let them fall over my chest. My band was busy having their instruments tuned so I was kind of free.

"What do I do now?" I asked Amanda.

"Well, you could go practice lyrics," she said.

"Hun, I know these songs like the back of my hands," I said.

"You say that now. But when you are in the middle of a song and you flub on a word, it's embarrassing," she said and I gave her a look. "Trust me, I've seen it done before, not the prettiest of sights."

"I practiced these songs every day for twelve days, I think I got them," I said. She shrugged and picked up a box of sound stuff.

"I have to go and put this away, talk to you later," she said and left. I was left alone and I sighed. Then I felt a pair of arms snake around my waist.

"Hey," I said and I heard Andy chuckle.

"Hey. Is your sound check all done?" He asked.

"My ear pieces are set, but we still have to practice a song or two, but those bozos are taking forever," I said. He chuckled again before turning me around and giving me a kiss.

"Are you in a weird mood or something?" I asked with a chuckle.

"Maybe. Or it's that we have hardly spent any time together since we landed yesterday," he said.

"Don't deny it, you enjoyed having some free time away from me," I said and he rolled his eyes.

"Why would I enjoy that?" He asked.

"Cause if you didn't, I would label you as a clingy boyfriend," I said.

"Okay fine, maybe I did enjoy some free time," he said.

"What did you do?" I asked.

"We mainly just went over the set, the schedule for today. Then we went into details about the whole tour and all that shit. It was band meetings all last night and today," he said.

"That doesn't sound fun at all," I said. He shook his head before pulling my into his chest and hugging me. I wrapped my arms around him and inhaled his scent. It was always relaxing to have his scent around me. From behind us I heard Jackson call over.

"Alright you two, we need to practice," he yelled and I groaned before letting go of Andy. He gave me a quick kiss before I walked over to the stage and we began the sound check. It was going well, I walked around the stage. We did the songs and figured out the kinks in the sound stuff. When we finished, it had been at least an hour. I was sweaty and gross, but I was still pumped.

"Okay Sadee, time for your meet and greet," I heard Jon say. I decided to have Jon as my touring manager for now, until I find my own. I followed Jon down the stage and over to the back room where the meet and greet was going to happen. There was a large backdrop with the tour logo on it, a table was set up on one of the sides of the backdrop and the room was small.

"This room is so tiny," I said.

"It's what we got. Alright, the first group of fans is heading in," Jon said and I nodded. My hand immediately went around my lanyard as the door opened and a group of three teenagers walked in with security. I smiled and they were almost crying.

"Hi," I waved and they smiled at me.

"Hi," one of the girls said.

"Thanks for coming out to the show. Who are you most excited to see?" I asked.

"I am excited to see you," the guy in the group said. I smiled at him and looked at the girls.

"Falling in Reverse,"

"Black Veil Brides," I smiled and looked up at Jon. He pointed to the back drop and I rolled my eyes before we all walked over to the spot and posed for the camera. It was fun. They all had tour posters for me to sign, and the guy asked me to sign his phone, which I did with no objection. The meet and greet went like that. The group came in by me, we talked a bit, got a picture, and I signed things before they moved on to see Falling in Reverse.

After three or so hours of meeting fans and taking pictures, I was set free to go get ready for my set. I walked to my dressing room, which I shared with my band, and grabbed my outfit before walking into the bathroom and getting changed.

"Are you excited?" I heard Zara ask from the other side of the door.

"Hell yeah. I am overly hyper right now and super pumped for this," I smiled as I opened the door.

"Damn girl, you are smokin'," Zara giggled and walked over to me and posed. She took an instagram picture and then sat back down.

"I know. How long now?" I asked.

"Ten minutes," Callum said from the couch.

"Oh my gosh!" I exclaimed and jumped in place. The ten minutes went by really quickly and before I knew it, we were being ushered out to the stage. Zara walked out to the drums first and started the beat. The crowd was going wild already. Oh shit. The other two walked out and I was handed a mic. I closed my eyes for a second and took a deep breath before running out on stage. The second I was in view, the entire crowd erupted into cheers and screams. It brought a smile to my face.

"Hello Bristol!" I yelled into the mic. I looked over at Callum and then Jackson, who were both smiling.

"This first one is called The Day You Left," I said and the music started. I walked over by Jackson and danced next to him. In this song, the bass was really prominent. As I sang, I watched the crowd sing with me. It brought a smile to my face to see it. When the song finished I looked out at the crowd and felt a tear fall.

"I hope ya'll don't mind that my songs are kinda sad," I said and heard laughter.

"This one is Memory," I said and Zara started the drum beat. While the lyrics of this song are kind of sad, the song itself isn't. It's rock, pure rock. I looked at Jackson as he played and stuck my tongue out and he rolled his eyes. I started to sing and walked around the stage. When I was singing, it was quiet on the music front, but then I would stop and it would pick up. When the guitar solo started, I was standing next to Jackson, my hand on his shoulder and my free hand fist bumping the air.

"Come on Bristol!" I yelled into the mic and the crowd got loud again. I smiled and began singing again. When the song ended, I was at the front of the stage, looking at the people at the barricade. I knelt down and smiled at them. They all reached out for me and I smiled before putting my hand out and grabbing some of their hands. A few started crying, others took pictures. I stood back up and looked at the band.

"Where I Belong?" I mouthed and they nodded.

"Okay guys, this next one is a song that hasn't even come out, hasn't been sung live, nothing. But I did help write it, it's called Where I Belong," I said and I walked tot he side of the stage and grabbed an acoustic guitar. At the front of the stage, three stools were set up, I sat down on the middle one, Callum on my left, Jackson on my right. We began the song and I cleared my throat before singing.

"As I look at the pictures on my wall,
I can see the pain and the sorrow.
I can see the hurt that I caused.
As I listen to the old phone calls,
I can hear him crying,
I can hear him trying,
To keep me down on the ground
," I strummed the acoustic and looked over at Callum before switching to Jackson. He was looking at me with a smirk. I stuck my tongue out quickly before singing agian.

"He left me in the middle of the road,
With tears falling down my face,
He was gone and I was broken.
The alcohol kept me alive.
My music kept me going,
Something must have brought you to me.
Something must have seen how I was,
And put you in my life.

My self destruction will come in between,
My self destruction will ruin us,
But you keep telling me,
Shut your mouth and follow me,
" I sang and Zara did a mini drum solo before I started the chorus.

"My fingers run through your hair,
Your laugh just makes me smile,
Everything about you,
Is what I want.
Nothing makes me feel,
The way you do.
Nothing makes me want,
The way you do.
I know now, this is where I belong.

When I was a child,
My father told me,
When you’re looking for a boy,
Keep one thing in mind.
He’s gotta make you happy,
He’s gotta make you smile.
He’s gotta make you mad,
He’s gotta make you cry.
A boy is a keeper,
When he can make you,
Know where you belong
," I looked over at the side stage and saw Andy standing there, his arm crossed and a contemplative look on his face. I smirked at him and he smiled back.

"My self destruction will come in between,
My self destruction will ruin us,
But you keep telling me,
Shut your mouth and follow me.

My fingers run through your hair,
Your laugh just makes me smile,
Everything about you,
Is what I want.
Nothing makes me feel,
The way you do.
Nothing makes me want,
The way you do.
I know now, this is where I belong.

Somewhere inside of me,
My heart sings for you!
Somewhere inside of me,
My soul screams for you!
Somewhere inside of me,
My mind is you.
Somewhere inside of me,
You bring out the best in me.

My fingers run through your hair,
Your laugh just makes me smile,
Everything about you,
Is what I want.
Nothing makes me feel,
The way you do.
Nothing makes me want,
The way you do.
I know now, this is where I belong.(X2)

After everything we have been through,
After all the shit we have seen,
I look at you and see my home.
You are where I belong.

Where I belong,
Where I belong,
Where. I. Belong,
" I finished the song and handed the acoustic down to a tech in front of me down by the barricades.

"It has been so fun out here tonight. I've been on this tour for a long time now, and I have to say, you guys might be the best crowd I've seen!" I said into the mic and the crowd screamed back in response.

"To end this awesome time, I have a special song for you, it's called A Hundred Miles Away," I said and the music started. It is a slower song, but it still is a little heavier. As I sang the song, I walked over to Callum and put my hand on his shoulder. We've been gone for two days, but I know he is taking this harder than the rest of us. When the song finished, I walked to the edge of the stage and bowed.

"Get ready Bristol! Falling! In! Reverse!" I yelled and ran off stage. I was giggly and hyper. My eyes caught Andy's and he was watching me.

"Hi!" I said and gave him a hug.

"That was great," he said.

"Thanks!" I exclaimed and wiped some sweat off my forehead.

"I liked how you sang Where I Belong," he said.

"I was hoping you wouldn't be mad for singing it," I said.

"It's fine. I like it when you sing it better," he smiled and I walked over to the cooler they had and grabbed a water. My entire body is warm and I am sweaty. That was so much fun. I think I can get used to this.
