Numb

Courtney's POV:

The person who I least expected knocked on my door, around half an hour later. It was Andy.

Usyally, in these scenarios, it was Ashley who came to talk to me, attempting to pull off the whole, 'responsible legal guardian' role. However, it was Andy, the person who I wanted to see more than anything. Hell, I expected Jinxx or Jake or even CC to show up before Andy. But for what seemed like the hundredth time today, I was shocked.

"Hey. How's the hurricane that is my brother doing?" I asked as he sat down beside me on my bed.

He chuckled, "he's taking it better than expected. But if it makes you feel any better, I think he's warming up to the idea of... Well us."

I raised an eyebrow at his last statement, but Andy made no move to clarify it. "Seriously? I think he'd rather chew off his own arm, or give up booze before he lets me date anyone, let alone his best friend."

Andy laughed, "yeah, I think you're right. I just thought it'd get a smile out of you."

"Well, it shocked me for a little bit then I realized that my brother isn't really capable of smiling. Thanks for the attempt though. And that reminds me," I stand up and cross the room, gazing aimlessly out the window, "we should probably have 'the talk' before we give my brother any more heart attacks today."

Andy sighed and ran a hand through his hair, "I know, but you have to admit, Ash is hilarious when he's angry."

"Stop changing the subject!" I exclaim as he approaches me, his tall form towering over my petite frame.

Andy places his hands on my shoulders, and tilts my chin up, so our gazes are locked.

"Hey, look at me. I'm not purposely trying to change the subject, I'm just trying to lighten the mood a little."

I force his hands away and look away from him, averting my gaze.

"Ever since we first met, back on your first day in L.A, I've known that I felt something for you. Something real. And the more time we spent together, my feelings grew," my heart flutters at his words and I meet his gaze.

"But, aren't you and Juliet... Oh my god! I kissed you while you were dating someone else. I'm an awful person! I'm, I'm such a slut, I deserve to die!" I say frantically, my mind going a thousand miles per hour.

"Courtney! Stop it! You are an amazing person, and don't you ever fucking say that you deserve to 'die', promise? And, well, Juliet and I broke up awhile ago. We just weren't working because I developed feelings for someone else," he explains lowering his head to mine.

I turn my head away, "so, I broke you two up?"

"No. We just don't have a lot in common, and started to drift apart. You didn't drive us away."

"A-are you sure?" I ask, uncertain.

He nods and smiles, "yes, now will you just fucking kiss me already?" He pouts.

I giggle and poke his cheek, making his eyes widen in surprise.

"Did you just poke me?" He asks, mock severity.

I nod and giggle.

"You did not just poke me. You are going to pay for that," he growls.

"Will I?" I ask innocently, pecking his cheek lightly, which turns his shocked expression to an adorable look.

I stand up on my tip-toes and press my lips to his, instantly shutting him up. He wraps his arms around my waist and softly presses his lips to mine, the kiss gentle and nothing like earlier.

Andy is the first to pull away and rests his forehead against mine, breathing each other in. Despite the short moment that our lips were attached, my breathing is already intense and ragged. He really leaves me breathless.

"Courtney, from the moment I met you, I knew I had feelings for you, and they have only intensified with the time I've known you. I love you, Courtney, and I promise to never hurt you. I can't stand parting with you for even a minute, because knowing you aren't mine drives me crazy. So, will you please be mine?"

My heart leaps into my throat, and my eyes begin to water. The words are even more perfect than I could ever imagine, and there's only one answer in my mind.

"Yes! I love you too Andy!" Andy grins and pulls me into a kiss.
