The Summer Job ~ Andy Biersack *Completed

Ch.6

--Baylie's POV--

My ears slowly tuned into my alarm going off and I shot up out of bed, remembering the unfortunate deal I'd made with our Manor King. I groaned and turned my head to face the clock: 9:35. I pulled myself out of bed, feeling weighted and sluggish. I did /not/ want to go to this. Perhaps I could skip and convince him I've got school. However, I was afraid of the outcome of that. Manor Kings are quite powerful people. With control over the entire neighborhood, more money than anyone else in the area, and no fear of legal boundries. Manor Kings are virtually invincible to felonies because they are high up on the police board as well, and just about everyone trusts what they say. I set down my brush and grabbed a stale piece of bread before heading out. 10:43. I was 43 minutes late. I bit my lip and hurried up the cold stone pavements. I could feel the icy air from inside and I wasn't even there yet. I turned the corner and began to walk towards the black painted door. I shivered, frowning that I'd forgotten a jacket. Just as I raised my hand to knock, the door flew open.

"Are you Abigail?" A short, frail old woman asked in a hurried, upset voice.

"Y-Yes." I responded, worried.

"Come in, Mr. Biersack is very upset...Quickly, quickly..." She said, sounding more and more anxious as she led me through the hallway and up the winding staircase. I noticed a bundle of maids cleaning up an explosion of glass and replacing scattered furniture, making me shiver. "Wh-What's he so upset about?" I asked, although inside I knew. The flustered woman did not respond, but rather stood me outside a large, arched doorway at the end of the hall. "Here...Let me go inside first. Why were you late?" She asked, sounding terrified but brave. "I-I...School." I stuttered. She nodded and slipped into the large room. "I'll be right back." She whispered. I nodded.

I heard a few low voices from the room and one loud shout. The woman quickly returned, looking pale and upset. "He's ready for you now." She said frailly. I nodded, but just as I was about to go in, she stopped me. "Are you one of them hookers? He doesn't ever bring young women in here." She said, her english shaky. I laughed lightly out of nervousness. "N-No...I'm just a maid." I said, although his last words to me evidented otherwise. She nodded, but her look was almost sympathetic. She walked away and I peeked inside the room to see who I assumed was Mr. Biersack, as she'd addressed him. He was facing a huge window, and there were books scattered all over the floor. "M-M.r Biersack?" I asked shyly. "You're late." He hissed. "Why?!" He turned around, and I was once again haunted by his electrical blue eyes. I opened my mouth to speak. "And don't you dare tell me it was school; I know you dropped out years ago." I closed my mouth, having no response. "Do you not take this job seriously? Hm? Answer me!" He demanded, slamming his hands down on the wood desk in front of him. "I'm sorry, Mr. Biersack but I've got obligations at home to attend! Your anger on the topic is outrageous!" I retaliated bravely. He shot his glare up towards me. "Don't speak to me like that. Now, now, now, what will teach you a lesson?" He asked, sensing my angst.

I crossed my fingers, throughts running through my head of the horrible things it could be. I sighed shakily. "I'm sorry," I began, but he cut me off. "No. Sorry doesn't have any effect on this, so cut the apology." I nodded shyly and he sighed, lifting his weight from the table and pacing around the room. "Alright." He said. "You'll accompany me to the Curelli party on Saturday, I'll have my people get you a dress. Come at your usual time, and if you look as draggled as usual I'll wash you myself." He snapped. I inhaled and opened my mouth to defend myself, but his stare told me otherwise. I sighed and shut my mouth. "Come back here when your done cleaning today, I have papers for you." He said. I nodded and he watched me for a moment, almost curious. "May I ask, sir, er, Mr. Biersack, how long the party will go for?" I said, remembering his distaste for the word sir. "I don't know. That all depends on your behavior." He addressed me as if I were a dog about to go for a walk. "Besides, Abigail, perhaps I'll want something afterwords." He winked. I tensed. "Please don't speak to me like that." I said quickly, staring down at my feet. He chuckled. "Oh I'm must fucking with you. Now run along. The maids have work for you." I nodded and hurried away, once again in no paticular hurry to return.
