The Summer Job ~ Andy Biersack *Completed
Ch.53
--Andy's POV--
Ricky returned to sit next to Chris across me, tossing me a beer. Chris finished his long train of thought, leaving us in silence for a moment. I snapped the metal corner of my beer can and took a sip.
"How's Baylie been coping?" Chris asked in a low, quiet voice.
"She's been good." I lied.
"She looks tired." Ricky added.
"She's fine." I said nonchalantly.
"She doesn't look fine, Andy." Ricky pushed further.
"It's not my problem how she is." I tried to push it off. I knew very well Baylie was not fine, and I was trying my best to help her, but I couldn't tell them that. Baylie wasn't the leader of any big company, and she had no power in the business industry. She was a thief, too. I couldn't have everyone knowing that the most respectable, powerful figure in the business was completely infatuated with someone like her. It would make me look absolutely pathetic. Weak.
"Then why do you keep her around if you don't care for her?"
"She might come in handy some day."
--Baylie's POV--
"She might come in handy some day."
I stood just around the corner from the sitting room, listening. His words played in my head, over and over. He doesn't mean it, does he? How can I know? I straightened up and walked in, smiling fakely. I didn't sit next to Andy this time, but rather next to Ricky. And closely, too. I wasn't sure what I was doing, but all I wanted to do was hurt Andy at this point. It felt good to hurt him just like he hurt me. He glared at me a moment, but looked back to Chris as he began to speak again.
"I think it's time we get going." Andy stated through a locked jaw.
"Actually, is it okay with you guys if I hang out a little?" I asked, smiling innocently. I could almost taste Andy's frustration.
"Cool with me." Chris said. Ricky nodded.
"Actually, Abigail, I need you to help me with some paperwork." A glint of murder flashed in Andy's eyes.
"It can wait." I said, clenching my teeth. He glared at me a moment before Chris got up, offering to show him to the door. "No, it's okay." Andy said. "I know where to go." He got up, striding off. I heard the front door shut. Ricky looked over at me while Chris got some food. "Someone's pissed..." Chris said under his breath. I sighed.
"You guys wanna go swimming?" Ricky asked spontaneously.
"I don't have a suit." I corrected.
"We have shirts." Chris said, smiling as he threw a cracker at Ricky and flopped down on the couch.
"O-okay..."
--Ricky's POV--
I was reminded of how white my chest was as I removed my shirt and pulled up my swim trunks, heading out. I'm pretty sure I'm even paler than Chris, for Christ's sake. I grabbed a cheese square before heading outside to see something beautiful, yet something I'd never expected to see.
Baylie stood by the pool, wearing one of Chris's t-shirts and her hair in a frizzy, uncombed braid. All over her legs and arms were sets of black x's and cuts and bruises and burn marks, and yet somehow, she was beautiful. Some things seem to look even more extraordinary when they are completely destroyed.
I smiled at her awkwardly, the same way a middleschool boy would. She smiled back, looking down at her legs and suddenly frowning. "I forgot about them..." she said. "Can you get them wet?" I asked. She shrugged.
"Guess we'll see."
