Happiness
What is happiness? Well, I don’t quite know what happiness is. I know I get a nice feeling when eating a tasty meal, and I feel something nice when I accomplish things; but nothing beats the feeling I get when I’m staring into these beautiful, bright blue eyes. Nothing beats the feeling of having these strong, warm arms around me; feeling his muscles twitch with the slightest movement. Everything feels so at peace when we are together. So I guess happiness would be whenever I’m with him.
Before we left my house, I packed a week’s worth of clothes into my bag, as well as all my makeup and necessities. I had a plan; a plan to find discover what happiness is. It was time I started living my life, and enjoying living it.
Andy and I both drove our cars back to Ashley’s house. I had told him to pack a couple days’ worth of clothes, but told him nothing more, even though he persistently begged me to tell him why. He scurried around his room, packing things into a black duffel bag. He packed all kinds of clothes, a suit, a couple jackets, every pair of shoes he had brought; he included his makeup, hair straightener, and a blow dryer to the mix. He packed more than I did, and I’m the girl!
We said goodbye to Ashley and headed out to my car. I opened the trunk up and Andy threw his things in, shutting the lid when he was done. I was already in the driver’s seat, ready to embark on our journey. He climbed in to the passenger’s seat, smiling at me as he looked over at me.
“You aren’t taking me somewhere to kill me, are you?” He joked.
“Oh, of course! That’s why I asked you to pack clothes.”
“Plleeasse tell me where we’re going…” He begged, acting like a child. His pleading only made me laugh.
“Nope, I’m not telling you. It’s a surprise!”
“But I don’t want it to be a surprise.”
“Well I’m sorry.”
After about four hours of driving,my car came to a stop outside of a big hotel-- we were now in downtown St. Louis, Missouri. Andy jumped out of the car, strutting over to open my car door for me. I climbed out, locking the doors behind me. I had booked the hotel for three days; I had so much planned for those days.
We walked into the lobby of the hotel and it was absolutely breathtaking.
I couldn't believe this was actually reality; I couldn't believe this was actually happening. I peered over at Andy, who looked completely mesmerized at how beautiful it was. He was beaming his handsome smile for all the world to see; he looked happy. I smiled myself, wrapping my arms around his. He gazed down at me, still beaming.
We strutted to the front desk. An older lady with black rimmed glasses and smile lines spread across her face, was typing away on a computer. She had a two piece, black, skirt suit on, and black, pointed toe pumps. She looked a bit intimidating; my anxiety threatening to flare at the sight of her. I took a deep breath and continued up to the desk, releasing my grip on Andy's arm once we approached. I told them I had booked a room; I gave them my name and information.
"Hello. I booked a room online." I spoke, sounding a bit too innocent for my liking.
"What's your name?"
"Crystal Thorne."
"Would you like two queen beds, or one king?" The nice, older looking desk clerk asked.
"Uh..." I looked over to Andy for guidance. Does he want to sleep in the same bed with me?
"We would like one king bed, please." He answered, smiling reassuringly down at me.
The woman typed something into the computer at lightning speed.
"Are you paying with cash or credit card?"
"Cas..." I finally pulled out enough bills from my wallet to pay, but looked up to see a card getting handed to the woman.
She handed the card back to Andy with two room keys, and explained where all the amenities of the hotel are before we trotted off towards the elevator.
