I Guess Dreams Can Come True

“Andy! Andy, bro! Wake up! It’s just a dream! Just a dream!” I heard Ashley yelling as he shook my shoulder.

“Kate!” I yelled as I jolted awake.

“Andy, it’s fine! What happened?! It’s just a dream!” Ashley said, trying to calm me down.

“What?” I said, sweating from my intense dream.

“I guess you had a bad dream, you kept screaming ‘Kate’ and ‘bye’ it was crazy, bro.” He said, calming down a bit too.

“Where’s Kate?” I asked.

“Still unconscious. Dude, they came out while you were asleep and told me there is only a very slim chance that Kate will pull through this one…” He said, biting his lip.

“But she still has a chance and I’m not letting her leave me. “ I said, glaring at him.

“I guess…” He replied hesitantly.

“Can I see her?” I asked.

“They said no.” He said.

“Well, looks like I don’t give a fuck.” I said as I got up, pushing past doctors yelling at me to stop where I was, and I finally made my way to Kate’s room.

“Sir! Sir! Sir, you can’t go in there!” I heard one of them yell after me. I turned around and flipped him off, then walked into her room.

“Kate!” I gasped as I looked at her arms, torn to shreds, and her whole face limp. Then I looked and saw her bruises all over her, the faint hand prints. Then I connected the dots. Landon, the hand prints too close to her.

“That mother fucker…” I whispered, then I felt someone tugging at my shoulder.

“What?!” I yelled. Then I turned around to see a shaking Alex.

“I…I’m sorry, I thought you were one of the doctors…” I said quietly.

“It… It’s fine… But I wanted to tell you I got them out.. I am a nurse, remember…” She said, looking down.

“Yeah, thanks.” I said, turning back around to see Kate again. I started to walk over, when I heard noise again.

“What?” I asked and turned around to face Alex.

“Why’d she do it?” She asked hesitantly.

“Landon happened to her, Alex. Landon happened.” I said, then snapped back around again to go to Kate.

“Oh…” I heard her say softly, then I heard the door open and close. She was gone. I sighed, all I’ve wanted to do was see Kate. I didn’t touch her because I didn’t want to hurt her anymore, but I got as close as possible.

“I’m sorry I left you alone…” I said, crying. I sat there, looking at her precious face for a little while longer, then suddenly I heard a loud beep.

“What the fuck?” I said, purely confused, and I looked up to see her heart monitor going flat, and before I could even understand what was going on doctors were rushing in, I was soon pushed out of the room.

“WHAT THE FUCK?!” I yelled, and Alex came over.

“Andy, that beep means her heart just gave in… The doctors just went in there, and are doing everything they can, but only about 4% of people survive a situation like this… I’m sorry, Andy.” She spoke the words on venom.

“Don’t say that!” I snapped at her. Why was everyone being so negative?! I wasn’t going to let Kate die like this.

“I’m sorry, but it’s just the facts, damn it! You need to face reality, Andy! And the reality of it is Kate’s going to die and you can’t do anything about it!” Alex yelled at me in anger. I turned around and looked at her with tears in my eyes and pure shock on my face.

“I-I’m sorry, Andy… I didn’t mean to.” She said quietly.

“You bitch.” I said quietly. No one was going to get in my way of seeing Kate again, no one. I went over and sat down by Ashley and started just staring off into space, until I heard a scream shortly after.

“What the fuck was that?!” I said, getting up. That was a girl’s voice. That was Kate’s voice.

“Kate?!” I yelled out to her. I heard a scream of pain again from her.

“She’s awake! Kate, princess?!” I yelled.

“Andy, don’t get your hopes up, please…” Alex said with her negative self again. I ignored her, and ran up to her room door. I heard another scream of pain again, but after followed the faint words of

“Andy!” And a cry after.

“Kate, I’m here! You have to do this! Stay alive, Kate!” I yelled through the door.

“What the hell is going on in there?!” I turned to Alex.

“She’s most likely being forced to stay alive, she’s mentally ready to live, but her body can’t handle it, so they’re using the zap things to keep her alive. Those hurt like a bitch." Then the screaming stopped.

“Andy?!” I heard her yell back, but she was out of breath and obviously in emense pain.

“Kate!” I yelled again, and punched the wall. Why wouldn’t they just let me in?!

“Andy!” She said again, a little more happiness in her voice this time.

“Let me in!” I yelled to the doctors, punching the door again.

“God damn you! I want to see Kate!” I yelled again. Then the door opened under my fist, I pushed past the doctor standing there that opened it and ran straight for Kate
